so what are some relatively good ships that arent too expensive and will help the campaign still be a challenge but not as difficult
Starting help needed (ships, guns, wiki? etc.)

hi,
I wrote this hint already somewhere else, but here again.
Start with buying first Startracker and then a Defender and better Guns. WIth Starfly and this Laser MkI nothing is going on but thats what you have starting money for.
If you are able to go to Texas, go there and do as many missions to have at least 1,000,000 $.
Then search the gate to Custodian north of Manhatten. In Custodian you can buy Eagle, Sabre, Titan.
With them you are pretty well off and those cost you around 500,000. Use the rest for whatever you like to buy there. If you are able to farm >10 mio credits, I am recommending do the same and buy on top in New York System and System to the left upgrades MK IV for Shield and Power OR buy the Werewolf on Planet Pittsburgh and also those two upgrades ( but then you need much more money). I finished the 1.9 campaign with this ship easily but alweays had problems with energy. I should have bought the Power Generator MK IV. This would have made the campaign much more relaxing. Shield Upgrade MK VII you can get in California.
@NucNuc the Oasis jump I also thought it is easy since there is a very nice ship. Unfortunately When you go there normally always Corsairs are waiting for you at the portal and blow you up. There is no way getting away from them when they wait for you, and to fight them you don't have the ship. I never had the "luck" that I jumped there and no one was waiting for me.
PS: I finished 1.9 campaign with the ships provided (Defender, Anubis, last was Titan I guess), second time fully with Werewolf, for sure much easier. So it is not needed to push you from the beginning to the max.
@Blaze1506 you will have to change your ship anyway after leaving Liberty space. Also you will get automatically more money through missions from story line or missions. Just see what comes your way. But for sure it helps to check the wiki for Ships and stay on alert when you go to this area. E.g. after some missions you will come to Kusari space where the Cayman can be bought.

after 2nd mission (Ashcroft) i bought the Chimera in Helios and finished the whole campaign with it. after vanilla-part my ship was equipped with all available high-class-stuff: power-generator, MKII-shield, shield-upgrade, Armor upgrade, Adv. Hydroxin Thrusters, 2 × Sunslayer torpedoes, class 10 MK guns. CF-campaign was easy going

so what are some relatively good ships that arent too expensive and will help the campaign still be a challenge but not as difficult
... some requirements you ask for ....For the vanilla part every Heavy fighter you might come across WITHOUT visiting Custodian (which I consider a wee bit as a kind of "cheat") like Trident , Trailblazer , Marauder (got a "new" model in CF 2.0), but also some so called "Light Fighters" like Shade or A-100 Stormrider will be absolutly fine fo finish the vanilla part - with some challange
But for the CF continuation you definitly will need a Very Heavy Fighter. Cheapest - but by far not bad at all- are the "vanilla" ones, Sabre finished the continuation in 1.9 as well as 2.0 with it ), Titan and Eagle.

When I was doing my most recent playthrough, I said "Flak it all and no regrets", whipped out my FL save editor.

I also restartet single player for 2.0 on my laptop and also was passing recently this race event, mastered it with a seething fury, which has the agility attributes of a flying wardrobe

Ajay and his B.
even savegames are not save from this romance -
Thats really must be love.

Buy the Titan in Custodian than the new Elder in Custodian until mission 13 than Redemption bacause is equipped with Adv. Champion H.F. Shield.
You need 5.000.000 to go to Ainu Depot after Tekagi's Base mission (do not enter the bar) and you need 9.500.000 at Bruchsal Base. -
Want a good ship? Great weapons? Lots of money?
Say no more! The best way to start off if you're really looking to roll the cash in is to fight as much enemies as you can and fill up your cargo hold with their escape pods. Go to your nearest prison and sell sell sell! You will make millions! ONE ordinary fighter (corporal) gets 30,000 credits! The prices can go from 30,000-100-whopping thousand for ONE FIGHTER! Once you've got your millions, head over to the Custodian system and go exploring, you can find great VHFs but i recommend the classic vanilla one such as the Titan (my favourite) the Eagle and the Sabre. You'll find all kinds of shield upgrades, thrusters etc if you explore enough...but it all starts with the money!
Easily found prisons:
LPI Huntsville - Texas, Liberty
LPI Sugarland - Texas, Liberty
BPA Newgate - Manchester, Bretonia
Fuchu Prison - Shikoku, Kusari
Vierlande Prison - Hamburg, Rheinland -
Very important thing, if you get the Access Denied because you enter New London through The Corridor, the way back is Quantos and be ready for Nomads.

Reading CF WIKI helps ...

I have the TItan now and am looking to buy the Redemption when I can. I dont know when this is going to be though

I'm looking for a Crossfire 2.0 ship to play singleplayer.
Freighter, Fighter, Bomber... I see that many ships are changing.
Something diferent than VHF. Just to have fun.
Maybe earlier one ship than later another one....
The Bullpup MK III I have tried. -
If you can save $108 million then buy the rheindland battleship from bruschal base
-
with about 40 mill u can get the Manticore Dreadnought in Chugoku or the Iteron Battleship in California.
but be aware, with a BS or DN u will not be able to win the race against Hovis in Dublin.
-
if you are going to use BS or any capital ship in campaign, expect trouble docking on some story bases. I stuck to fighters only for SP
