  • The SOL Systems in Crossfire are exactly like SOL Sytems in X3, distances are toooo long.
Did you copy that from them or them from you??

I don't know, thinked Crossfire is a Sequel to Freelancer, but since I've discovered that you don't have a real storyline,
only some discovery "missions" over the news panel without videos and coworking with the persons of freelancer it's no more
    that brillant like I thought.

Think that's a good extension for multiplayer, but for single player it's not.

I'm sorry to say that because I know that you worked a lot for that MOD.

  • the Sol system was build by me and has nothing to do with other games at all
we had this system in CF long before x3 did even exist... and i doubt that they copy from us

to say that Crossfire has no storyline is a bit weird.... I remember very well having created 20 storyline missions with cutscenes and everything that would qualify it to be a storyline mod

  • @SWAT_OP-R8R:
Sorry, was not my intention to offend you nor to bash the mod. As I wrote, I respect your work and think it's a lot of that.

The thing is that I'm playing the Mod in SP (the old Missions yet done) since some weeks and all what I can see are some news in the newsboard,
then I had to discover 3 datadisks (done) and have some other things looted (need to be 3 again I think), but all the time there's no interaction with the persons of the past, no Video, no mission control system like before, nothing. And most of the time I don't know what the missions likes me to do. I feel somehow lonely in the Universe without the advise of the mission system :-)
Will that change with the advanced Missions or is it all the time like this?

Huor: Yes of course, shure you can live with that. But if mayority of new Players feel like I do when they start playing CF, it will not be an success outside hard core multiplayer players. Maybe it's that what you want?? Don't believe that.

  • no offense taken
but CF1.9 contains 20 story missions... practically an entire new campaign that starts right after the last vanilla mission

  • What has the storyline to do with the skill of players? The extension we have made at CF is that you have 20 new story elements that proceed after the original story line ends. To say we have no further story line is just wrong - simple as that. Hardcore players as well as noobs should be able to recognize this.

Sure its discovery missions but also fighting missions. Its nothing else in the original story line. We do not have videos extensions. Sure where do we should get them from?

  • Guenni7 : "You received a negative reputation by guenni7 for Crossfire: SOL System. Due to this you will loose one reputation point. Comment: didn't play SP but claiming SP Problems - very usefull statement but without brain" I'm sure you are without a brain. I stated that i completed it, but you didn't. So your statement is wrong. Please, GTFO and don't argue with me. I'm offering you something to work with, while you're offering nothing but dumb stuff written here. If you need help ask, don't argue.

  • My post "What is X3" was downrated too... it worked :)

So Thanatos is from there? Very nice to know, thanks :)

"Across the savage skies and through the fissures in the fields,
The rumble of the engines and the trundle of the wheels,
Through hell and horror trudge and yet their spirits never yield.
Will they sing of these forsaken pawns of war?"
-Miracle Of Sound, "Pawns of War".

Did not say anything about the skill of the players?!
and my last post did not state that there is no storyline at all.

What I said is that it doesn't feel like Frelancer, because there is no mission system ("Meet Juni in xyz", "Fly to xyz" messages, no given Coordinates, Waypoints etc.), there are no new video scenes (BTW: it's not the task to robb them, would be a task to develop them). So at all I see a storyline that is text-based in a graphical game.
Therefore I think the Mod is more for the Multiplayers with more Systems, more Ships and Equipment, but not a hit for Single Players.

That's ok, but I don't think it's a Freelancer Sequel (As I thought), maybe that my expectations were to high.

  • guenni7: do not forget that freelancer have still its code locked ... this mean that are given some limits which simply can't be overstepped. Crossfire pushed FL limits in many aspect very very far, but still are things which can't be changed and need to use original code.

  • guenni7: By what you are saying, it seems that you are missing the campaign, and only doing the story through datadisks and such (which is actually for Multiplayer, not SIngleplayer).

You do go along Juni, sometimes with King ( yeah, you got times when you're alone with lil Jun'ko Zane ;) ) and even along the whole Coalition fleet escorting you.

To access the actual storyline, the one with missions, cutscenes/videos like in the original story, NPCs escorting you and such, you have to have the game on "Normal Storyline" and start the vanilla/Freelancer storyline normally, after finishing the last vanilla mission, after opening the portal above the Nomad base and return to Manhattan, you get a new mission with the proper Missioni text, message and such, which tells you to go to a planet, there you meet some guys, speak with them in the bar automatically (no spoilers, but well, that first dialog may have little sound issues, but the text version of the dialog comes after it, so don't worry), and then, WITH mission messages, you get automatic waypoints showing you the ways, nomads attacking Sirius systems in your way again, the text telling you the orders of Juni, another boss, or somebody else, and the Crossfire campaign guides you all the way from Manhattan out to the bottom of the Alien sector, passing through the Coalition guys, and everything. The ending of it comes with the CF 2.0 version.

The storyline is NOT the one where you try find the datadisks and black boxes yourself with the hints they say, that's a feature older than the actual "extended campaign", which was meant for Multiplayer, where there is no possible "campaign".

That's why there seem to be misunderstandings arround here, ones are speaking about the actual storyline, you are speaking of the OLD method used as a story, not the actual campaign. Or at least it seems so, because Juni speaks with you, and King, some coalition dudes, and some cutscenes, if you are doing the actual extended campaign and not getting anything else than text, that may be some bug with the installation you have.

Any other doubt or such, just ask :)

If you noticed in my text, I mentioned "starting" the vanilla story from the beggining, and in Normal SP mode when activating the mod.

If you used an older save file from Freelancer or such things, the extended campaign won't work, because you have to finish the original campaign while being in Crossfire.

And ya, in Sol, from what I remember, you get to go there inside the Osiris, where you and 2 strike team forces get launched to attack a huge nomad ship ( Nomad Strike Carrier), some of your people may get killed in the try and get notified about that by voice chat, finish the mission then dock back to the Osiris for continueing your team's trip to Earth, then you get sent over to Coalition in a diplomatic way so they get to escort you and Juni through their sector/systems.

That's not really what I'd call "being lonely" and for sure it's a "mission system".

  • You staited that I didn't even play SP. Therefore you got the comment. And for you Answer about the comment, you did gain that I don't delete it lioke I did for the others. @All: Didn't know that ratings for comments affect account reputation. I deleted all comments (except one :-) )

First of all you're arguing again. Next, i stated u didn't even start to play CF SP, as this is Crossfire Mod, not Discovery or Flak 88, or something else. And your answer is false. Your point is false. You can re-read my words. I don't want to write anymore.

  • Thanks a lot Michael for your advice, you were on the right path: I used a savegame with Last vanilla mission yet done.

As I don't wanted to play the first 13 Mission all again, I now loaded a savegame and did only the mission 13 again,
so the CF storyline was triggered and surprise:

It's all there what I expected of CF: Storyline, Video Sequences and Mission control with Waypoints. Yet fighted that nasty little Nomads on my Way to NB.

In the newsboard I still can see that entry "Quest: Incomming Transmition (initial quest)" of what I thinked it is the storyline of CF, this is a Bit confusing. So last Question: Will I have problems because I only did Mission 13 in CF or is it all ok when one time the storyline is triggered?

@Duck_Dodgers: Maybe I understood you wrong when you said "You did not start SP", thought you're kidding me. Sorry for that. I deleted the bad comment hoping you get back your rep point.

  • i dont think this will make probs
