I have a interesting question. I saw a video on Disco Forums, the video contained models in which were from your Continum Lancer's Dream project. To be more specific, the station model. I remember seeing it on the ModDB page for that mod. Is there any relations to the Freelancer 2 Project? Or did someone from the Dev Team offered the model? I just really want to know cause its a bit confusing.

What is it with the post's on RSI regarding bloody joystick support for Freelancer.
Everyone knows that Freelancer is best played with Mouse and Keyboard combo.
Meh, they must think they still have an old Atari games console or something.I am very suspicious regarding this site, something doesn't add up.
I mean, why now, why the secrecy.....
What does he hope to gain ( except money from us oc ).Imo, Crossfire to me IS Freelancer 2 with the continuing storyline.
Ok, it may have not have Trent and Juni in it, But to me it has the feel of Freelancer 2.
And hopefully Crossfire 2.0 continues on further and deeper.I think Roberts has regrets by leaving Digital Anvil when the project of Freelancer
was almost finished, only to hand it over to someone else to complete.
Plus the fact how long it has been around and STILL played today, all money that he could have gained
only if he stayed put at D.A, and also could have created MODS himself and sell them as addons for Freelancer.
Hmmm, very strange to appear 10 yrs later to announce a possible Freelancer 2 on RSI.
Will he also walk away from that one I wonder????I must stop drinking Rum.

New project Chris Roberts will have name "Cloud Imperium". This not Freelancer2.

I am most confused about the choice of polls.
1st one was about cockpits.... does anybody actually care about that? The gameplay is important not the style of the cockpit.
2nd was about controls....
3rd about which kind of game the players wantsthe 2nd and 3rd poll are quiet irritating
he wants to announce his game in about 2 weeks and does not even know what kind of game it will be?
So far i was thinking that he already has a concept by the hands... but these polls seem to show something different. -
maybe thats the plan, irritate the playership and then present something no one wanted to consider. Probably it a Commodore like game
-
Just please be patient. Will see, what it will be. Just hope for the best but rely on the worst. After the closure official freelancer, I will not be surprised, anyway.
P.S.
Meanwhile, in Russia...

@ Hour
A so-called "FREE2PLAY"-game (HAHH).
As it looks like you have already to buy a "standard".
Most likely you won't go anywy far without. But I have to admit it LOOKS very good.

Y>eah wtf, man I hate Microsoft they could've just brought Freelancer 2 and it'd have beat all space games
-
Microsoft was just like this team's boss, and giving the equipment (PCs), so they weren't the ones creating Freelancer, but they are the fault that FL got closed, the source code eliminated(or closed) and later on, Digital Anvil disbanded.
-
They are the ones which kept the game development running after Chris Roberts original concepts for the game failed.
They funded the game development... they changed to concepts and gameplay to the Freelancer that you can play today.
They supported the game till 2007.Without Microsoft you would not even be able to play Freelancer or be part of this community.
For me its pretty hard to have negative feelings knowing all these facts. But I guess there are still people which say "I dont like using a Microsoft product... instead i use Windows).

And as you might know Chris Roborts is superior, without him the space sim genre will be or would already have be dead. So no matter what he will make. Its better than everything else and all other server of every other space sim game will be empty - so good this new game will be. There is no doubt. Not a single one.
where is the ironic button?
-
oh cmon... he is the hero that saves the entire genre
... with shiny animated cockpits as most important feature.[ani='scale','1500']
[frame](animated doll costs 20.000$)[/frame]
[frame](only 20.000$)[/frame]
[frame](pledge NOW!!!)[/frame]
[/ani]damn it, you are right... where is the irony button when you need it?

Dude calm your tits I just said I hate microsoft for Cancelling Freelancer 2, but I didn't say I hate Microsoft above everything. o_O Let's see how this Star Citizen: Squadron 42 will be. You know I understand the name Star Citizen (It's nearly something like Freelancer) but I don't get the part Squadron 42, because if you will be able to make things on your own, and stuff the Squadron 42 part doesn't fit in! Squadron 42 is like beeing in a Military Company, or something. But yeah whatever
-
Dunno... but in my eyes "Star Citizen" sounds like paying taxes.
-
Squadron 42 and Star Citizen fits the same as being 12 years a roman legionaire, then getting a pice of land and get the roman citizen rights.
Worked for the roman empire from approx. 250 bc until 300 ad.
Then the germans WANTED ALL !!

I think you find it was David Braben and Ian Bell, that started the whole Space Sim genre off,
With Elite and Frontier:Elite 2.To even suggest that Space Sims by Roberts kept the genre going, is clearly criminal.
I got fed up with the dam cockpits of WC, seems to me all he wanted was a great looking cockpit for
his ship design, I prefer what Freelancer/Crossfire offers.Star Citizen is just another WC clone, and to add insult to injury, he put some Freelancer in it, but
its STILL Wing Commander at its core. So no big shock to me there, he is sooo linear.Freelancer as it is, is still imo the best format for a space sim i have EVER played, loads of room for expansion,
New storylines, quests, systems, all can be done relatively easy.
Also with a new game engine, who knows its potential.
I think Roberts has given up way too fast on the Freelancer Legacy that is.You just need an imagination and a flair for all thing Sci Fi.
Things that spring to mind.
1. More sleeper ships discovered =new systems
2. Coalition join ranks with Liberty or Nomads
3. Ancients are found to be still alive and need our help
4. Earth is again under attack by an Alien force
5. Be able to terraform a planet that can sustain life.
Just a few to mention, i have loads.
And I know you was being Ironic/sarcastic Huor.
Roberts was too quick to have given up on Freelancer, it can be STILL huge, and all he can do
is make another WC version, because thats what Star Citizen really is, is it??Rgds
