  • OK, so I have been searching for help about
two years by now and finally gave up and decided to write here. I am not sure I
will get the right answers, but I'm out of options.

So, I've been playing the Freelancer
regular campaign several times and got bored. I've found out that this
Crossfire mod, is some kind of a continuation of the regular campaign and decided
to give it a try. And this is where I hit a wall. First of all, there are three
versions of the mod: 1.7/1.8 and 1.9. Than the is the Mod Launcher versions.
When finally I managed to install and run the mod, I couldn’t find a single
trace of new storyline. It was all the same as before, with only the new
systems added (which is good, but not what I wanted). So now I am going to
shoot with several very concrete questions and I am hoping I will get clear
answers to them (just to clarify that I don’t like smart guys trying to be
funny, or puzzle type answers-just go straight to the point). So here we go:

1-First of all, is it really possible to
play additional single player camping beside the regular one with the mod, or
no? If this is a negative, please ignore all the other questions.

2-Which version of the mod should I
download and install (1,7/1,8/1,9 or all of them)?

    3-What are the exact installation
steps-please explain them so that even a sheep will understand them....

4-If I manage and install the game, what exactly
should I do, in order to start the additional campaign, after I finish the
    regular one?

5-In the mod, is it still possible to
reduce the difficulty, by altering the ini file, as in the regular game. Please
don’t kill me, for asking this, I would never cheat in multiplayer games 8).

This is what pops in my mind for now. If I
have additional questions later, be prepared for second edition. :D

  • Howdy cveteca,

Only CF 1.9 is supported and install by these instructions in th FAQ http://www.swat-portal.com/php…ail&category=7#question12
The extended CF storyline continues immediately after vanilla storyline - that's it
Don't cheat in SP or you will be a sheep in MP (and I know what thats like) - c training video to get a better fighter pilot @PvP Video Training
When you continue the storyline you will find much more difficult NPCs

    Hope this helps

OK, I've got some of my questions answered.
I will repeat the once I didn’t get an answer (or at least I do not see it):

4-If I manage and install the game, what
exactly should I do, in order to start the
additional campaign, after I finish the regular one? - I've been there before last time I did the regular
campaign, and after the last mission Trent was in Manhattan and I couldn’t find
any way to start the new additional campaign. Is there something I should do,
or somewhere I should go in order to launch the new campaign sequence?

5-In the mod, is it still possible to reduce the difficulty, by altering the ini
file, as in the regular game. Please don’t kill me, for asking this, I would
never cheat in multiplayer games - please just give me the answer-this is single player, and most of all-it’s MY game and
I like to play it the way I want. So- is it possible to cheat (I prefer to call
it "reduce difficulty") or no in SP?

  • As SilverFox said the additional missions start right after you finish the Vanilla campains, and thus you need not do anything but contiue on. These missions will take you to the other areas that are part of CF and you will meet Tougher NPCs.
Changing the mod in anyway is not permited and thus all files should remain the same as you get them, plus it makes the mod even better to keep it as is. There are better guns and ships throughout the game as well shield up-grade and gens to help with your guns.
Missions are a great way to collect pods and sell and prison stations when you can get out of NY (just a sugestion)

And lastly welcome to CF and hope one day to see you on the server

See you in Space soon :)

All Characters are Licensed Police Officers:

    Katertrak_Jack (flying a BS)
Laws_Brann (testing different ships for IC hunting)
Junker_Clunker (Mission char for good cach fast)
    Cargo_Brann (Transporter of lawful cargo)
Katatonic[ASF] (ASF business only and afew events if other char can't make it)

See You In Space Soon :)

  • Hello cveteca,

new campaign start asap when you will finish last vanila mission. Practicaly all added missions are created as extension for last vanila mission. If I can recomend ... start from begin, many graphic was highly upgraded. (and do not forget remove whole old cf folder with saves in your documents)

reduce difficulty is possible for SP (it do not work. for MP) via one ini file (you can be also invincible). I do not remeber this file name, only know is located in fl folder in documents (Im atm out of my PC to check name).

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • OK everybody, time for the next series of
    questions.

First of all, why the hell you (mod
developer) made the game sooooo damn hard. Ones it took me almost half an hour
just to take out several regular Reinland fighters. Don’t remember the regular
Freelancer been so hard. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the perf.ini trick, I would
have been stick to the first 2-3 missions. So, the questions:

1-what are the best weapons in the game. Of
course this should be 10-th lvl weapons? Just give me the names and I will try
to find the locations myself. And by the way, is there any point at all, using
turrets and mines? Turrets I think can’t take a ship down, even if I have 100
attached to me. As for the mines, its freaking hard to hit something with them.

2-whats the easiest way to make a lots of
money fast. I noticed the cool new ships for sale, but all of them cost millions.
Currently I have about 2 mil, but is hardly not enough even for a paintjob ;) . The fastest one I've found, is buying
pharmaceuticals (if I remember correctly) form Planet Blood and selling them on
neighbor planet Molog in Custodian. But doing this even with the ship that has
the largest cargo space (from the regular ones) Dromedary, brings me only about
a 200 000 per run. Do you know of a faster way to gain money?

3-when I got rich (for which I need your
input on the upper q.), which ship is the best, so I can go ahead and purchase
it? I know, that from the regular one, it is the Titan, but I have almost no
observations on the new ships. So which one is the best of them? And whats the
deal with the battleships? If I purchase one, shall I be the terror of the
    univerce ?

OK, thats it. Now I will await for some
experience player to do some input here and he will have my gratitute
    forever 8).

  • the game is not too hard... you just use the wrong equipment

  • easiest reachable guns in Sol system and next Coalition Gatlings (are more interesting guns but those are harder to get :) )

doing missions and sell escape pods in prisons (like is for example in Texas)

explore and try .. for SP you can be good with MANY ships ... its matter of "I like this design"

CF is difficult .. yes, but it is challenge what most of ppl like and CF offer them allot fun.

and btw ... you rly should explore a bit .. CF is nice place for exploring :)

  • Ok, probably not the right section/thread , but that really reminds me that I can try creating " PvE Lessons " sometime , although the last 2 vids of the PvP lessons aren't done yet , it won't stop me of trying to make some PvE lessons too since a lot of people have troubles with the NPCs in the beginning.

Anyway dude , if you've looked at the PvP Lessons thread that SilverFox shared , I guess in the beginning , you'll just need to take Maneuvers and attacks from these vids ... I mean against NPCs. The others will come in due time.

  • Okay, so i had troubles in the start too. No money, no guns, no nothing. But the first thing i did (before i started playing SP) was get on MP and talk to the people. I soon hit the Jackpot. Shockwave and The_Cro_Legend. They were the ones that guided me. First I explored a bit in MP, did missions, found stuff that i should be interested in, and then i went on SP. No biggie. But i still lacked money. So, the pro tip here.

That's what helped me with the cash problem. ;)Anyways, for the ship i'd pick Chimera from Helios (Capua Base), guns - PPC (Phoenix Project Cannons if i recall correctly) and then i went on rampageing. Also you should try and search for the Energy Upgrade, Shield Upgrade, and get one of those Armor Class 10s. Those help alot.~Scorpi

  • Just wanted to report, that the new missions are really buggy the further I progress. On top of that, I reached a mission where I have to eskort two trains form Dublin to Mars. Well, that is impossible. First of all, had to restart the mission several time in the Hyperion system, because the trains couldn enter the traind line correctly and just got stuck in the beggining. When I finally did it, later in the Sol system, I reached to Jupiter somehow. But what was my supprise, when the trains, instead of taking the Mars traid line (the mission is to escort them to Mars), they took the Earth one. Than after we reached Earth, another supprice- the trains just turned back and went all the way to Jupiter on cruise speed. After we got to Jupiter, the stupid trains tried to dock again with the traid line to EARTH (damn it), but unfortunatelly, they couldn't do it for some reason and ended up doing constant circles arount the traid line. Thats when my patience run out and I quit the game.

So I wanted to ask-is there any way to skip that obviously buggy misson and preceed to the next one, because I really got into the story ?

  • Take yourself and do it over and over and over again.
And suggest to change those train fuxors with freighters.
And in next, I will spoiler you a bit - you will get a hostile contact with... my comrades, Coalition :)
Ship advice: If sluggish ships do not confuse you, try Basilisk. VERY MANY bots/bats (130/130), armor and nice firepower.

"Across the savage skies and through the fissures in the fields,
The rumble of the engines and the trundle of the wheels,
Through hell and horror trudge and yet their spirits never yield.
Will they sing of these forsaken pawns of war?"
-Miracle Of Sound, "Pawns of War".

  • Trains should go to Earth first and next to Mars.

SP is working good .. but you need to follow few simple advices:

    • If you have problem with mission, ALWAYS use last MISSION save .. auto-save and players save can be corrupted with wrong passed mission way-points, triggers etc. Only mission save can assure that your starting conditions are without problem.
    • Always follow mission path precisely ... one missed way-point or trigger ends with mission bugs (alas CF SP can't be altered in this)
    • And for train mission: simply each time fast enter formation and enjoy space view (do not touch controls :) ). In one time your convoy will be "surprised" ... try wait until you get order to engage enemy and then blow them as fast as possible and re-enter formation. This way you should be OK with this mission.
  • Thank you both. Finally reached Mars with the stupid transports. If I could I would have killed them myself :cursing: .

I wonder something. The new ships that come with the CF mod, costs milions. But when I compare their stats with my Titan, the look almost the same. So why the hell do they cost as much as 10 Titans, when the stats are almost equal. Is there something that is not shown in the stats?

P.S.- oh I almost forgot. Does somebody wants to give me several milion credits in Multiplayer :) ? What was my supprice when I entered Multi today and found out that all my hard earned single player credits do not tranfer in MP 8|
