what i just have realized is that mass pvp almost always results from RP, see pirates vs cops, the beginning is one tax or fine and of course both parties refuse to do so, they commit long-term pvp fights because neither of both are to leave the pvp ground / system (reason might also that cops / pirates dont let go) which is fatale for good RP'ing 
but that surely doesn't get started in X... maybe once every MONTH. But if you RP, not just say: Tax 1milordai. That's just nonsense. Strict RP rules should be considered adding to the current ones.
The idea of closing X for PvP sounds good if we add some details to that. Not just that anyway many complains of those asteroids and NPCs doing a lot of lag, that CSF or ASF are hostile and keep "accidentally" being killed by them at the end of a round, but also that is the only way in/out of many clan systems (few have 2 ways in/out) and the place to do ASF / CSF NPC Missions.
But this restriction should be in a way that no one is "untouchable" in there, like in NY stores not allowed and guys above lvl 50-60 either, or like in Arena, no stores and to get out for the RP request when you get it, to avoid ppl to use it as hideout. We don't need hideouts.
And if you close it , what? You think they will stop PvPing and start hunting somebody for RP purpose , etc? They will just choose another system to have these massive PvPs.
They are just lazy to do RP , for I don't know what reason. If you want them having RP , you need to create something that they will like or attract them better than just fighting for fun.

Exactly. I will give IOC credit for enticing smuggling pursuits ( at least for me they do ), but they are slick and it requires more than 1 cop to track them down and eradi...I mean retrieve the stolen goods.
I think have much easier idea how to solve pvp fests in X ... simply remove equipment, ammo from planet equipment store ...

face it people, it is simply not possible to stop pvp-fests, as Crysis already said, if they get restriction in X they go and do it somewhere else... to restrict pvp-fests in mass you have to restrict pvp at all and this cannot be your wish, aint it?

If you want the old fashioned RP happening in the server , you need to restore it first. If the people aren't bored to trade again (something of a high value in order to attract pirates and cops) , organizing fun events(not those which we do/did always in the Arena) etc.
The people are just tired from all of that , because there aren't any traders that can carry something of a high value(such as BMG for example) that can attract cops , pirates and even mercs. There aren't events like (Clan Wars , System Invasions , Hunting etc. <- all of those in a friendly meaning of course) and so on. At least the last time that I've been in the server(few months ago or so).
What we must do is organize all of that , otherwise don't except RP any time soon.
when i read this thread i see 16 members and 14 guests on frorum and on sever 20 ppl online , so why not all of u move on server? w8 ,just half of u... and play ur rp how u wish to do it instead to complain about others rp who are active ppl day by day .CF have a lot of systems, so not need to stay in x or Arena to meet so caled no RP ppl .
Btw i am online and i not see non of u ... so play the game and stop spam the froum

I just didn't want to go right in your hands. When it became clear that you were able to block both short ways to Cambridge (i.e. through Omega-3 and Omega-5), I went for a longer one, and then you suddenly left... Otherwise a nice RP involving 3 people of 3 clans could have occured (there was also a merc I hired for protection).
P.S. At the end, mines and insane inertia in Custodian brought me to death 
So we all failed. Hope it will go better next time!
@Pui: I can't, I'm packing up for a trip... And this is a backup copy of my OS, without CF... Damn trojan did it again yestreday.
the best RP can come from very spontaneous moments.
and currently, 4 people in X just killing each other and gawd knows what else is going on the rest of the server.
if we took PvP away entirely, a huge number of players will leave. should we limit the PvP some how AND have the GR's on more consistently to enforce it, the server won't be as boring to play on.
the problem is that with organization, there needs to be someone who's willing to step up to organize said events. it used to be that there was a different EM for every event. i would step up if i had more consistent internet connection instead of bumming off people's wifi. besides that, a number of people have real life issues and problems. young people like me with nothing but time would be best for these sort of things...

I see a few people on this thread online NOW ... but I don't see you ( ok I saw you - and died by the hands of aliens lol )
The point is - There is enough reaction on this thread to show that there is definitely a problem with this behaviour.
I agree with Lonewolf. I just logged out from the server and there was a half dozen players in X...all of them pirates or cops and one merc collecting bounties. I'm pretty sure that's RP. So, why do pirates and cops hang out in X all the time? Well, X system is a central hub with a fair bit of player traffic. The 3 largest police clans have gates to their home systems in X [Tarsus, Custodian and Nephele]. Many other clans have gates to their home systems in X. Personally, I have been taxed/fined more times in X than any other system so, along with the generic PVP, there is a goodly chunk of RP, too. Here's what I see happening in X nearly every time I log in:
Pirates go to X to wait for likely victims travelling thru the system [it *IS* the shortcut to various areas]. While waiting, they fight each other.
Cops see pirates in X and go to engage.
Cops and pirates fight, fight, fight.
Pirates put bounties on cops, cops put bounties on pirates.
Mercs come in to collect bounties.
Smugglers make a nice profit because all the cops and pirates are in X!
I kinda like things the way they are.
