  • Hi
I've just negotiated my way to Weth in the Inner Core I'm on friendly terms with the Dom'Kavash, through many battles with IC aliens, picked up some guns, all going well then I get to the Weth jumpgate dock with it materialize in Weth and before I can get into free-flight I get blown to bits by an NPC lose all I've gained and dumped back in bloody Omega 3.
What is the point of going to the Inner Core at all if when you reach a safe haven and are friendly with the system owners (the Dom'Kavash) and you die the game puts you back to Sirius (Omega 3) and not your last jumpgate, will this be the same in Crossfire 1.9? cos if it is I wont be bothering with this mod anymore which is a shame cos I enjoyed the rest of it and the game
will have lost a player.I'm sorry to have to say this is a Major offputting factor in multiplayer to going any further and after being encouraged to leave single player I can only say how very dissapointed I am.
    Bye Bye
    Vardek.

  • Vardek, I am very sorry to hear of your disappointment and troubles with the Inner Core sector. However, this is by design, for this is the most hostile environment of this Freelancer Mod, the Inner Core sector of the Crossfire mod, it is controlled by very powerful and very aggressive alien races who are bent on the destruction of both Dom'Kavash and mankind.

You don't step through the GMG Hypergate in Omega-3 without your balls, your brains, alot of skill and good fortune, or stuff like this happens unfortunately. (and yes, it's happened to me on several occasions in the past too! :D )

Bottom line, IMHO going through the Inner Core solo and alone is a VERY difficult and demanding task, you are overwhelmingly outnumbered and outgunned. Only the longest playing and most experienced pilots here are able to take on the hostile Doms solo, destroy their fighters and live to come back to Weth and then the Sirius sector to talk about it.

At the very least, you should have taken a wingman with you to help you, as your chances of survival increase exponentially with another person there to help divert the attention of the hostile Doms. Any Silver Arrows personnel would be more than willing to help you out in that degree, I'm sure there are others as well who would fly with you as well. As the old saying goes, there's safety in numbers.

As Awesomeman explained, you must land at Mirtrrak Battle Station in the Weth system if you are save your progress in the Inner Core system and to respawn there if your ship is destroyed. Otherwise, you will respawn at the GMG Hypergate Station in Omega-3. Again, this a two-fold reason, one, there is nothing but hostile forces from Venn to Weth in the Inner Core sector. Two, this is to reflect the difficulty of this part of the mod, as it is the ultimate NPC challenge IMHO, however it can be overcome!

Again Vardek, I implore you to reconsider your decision as quitters never win. You will never get to explore and see the rest of the Inner Core sector if you give up now. There are many people who are willing to help you out if you let us know before you go off in the most dangerous part of the known galaxy.

At the least, you can look at my signature and see if the SAL Xeno Guide can help you out. I will fly with you next time if you want my help, I've done many Inner Core missions in my time with the Silver Arrows and in Knights of Mercy expeditions, I can take you where ever you wanna go in the Inner Core and teach you how to get you there alive and back home to Sirius.

  • Hi Ryleous
Thank you for your reply and concern,I appreciate that the Inner Core is the most hostile place in Crossfire with Extremely aggressive aliens and no safe haven until Weth but I have been
across there before and lived to tell the tale in Sirius (admittedly in single player, when there were no more challenges in Sirius I practically lived there) but this time round I'm in multiplayer
and yes the aliens are even harder but in my new Redemption ship I killed at least 8 aliens and gathered a couple of very handy alien guns and made it through into the Weth system,it was
only then that the instant I appeared in Weth I was blown to bits before I could engage free flight or even move....see I am good enough to get through the Inner Core solo I did it!,don't
think I'm not grateful for your offer of a wingman but I gotta do this alone cos I know I can.
Maybe I'll try again I don't know...I'm more tempted to wait for 1.9 an see what that's like cos there's nothing left in Sirius or Altair that I cant kill an just making money gets
boring, the Inner Core is certainly a step up that's why its a pity there's no place to dock there...there should be.
Perhaps we'll bump into each other in the future in 1.9,( I'm particularly looking forward to new quests and missions I'll certainly check those out)but for now Thanks for all your
help, you and everybody else on this forum.
    Vardek.

  • Ahhh Vardek...

If Sirius and Altair regions are not a challenge anymore for you, IC still is...
Those trips are never"walks in the parc", and even if you succeeded a few times,
it does not mean you will always do.

But isn't it what makes it challenging?

Dying and losing its cargo is never funny I admit, and can get frustrating after a while
(I usually take a break, or switch to a "calmer" activity within Sirius).

Believe me, the game would get very boring without those "incidents" though.

About respawns... I personally prefer being taken back in O3, allowing to head elsewhere,
than continously repop in... let's say Pyrrdra for example? with the chance of being
    blown up again when respawning...

In any case, do not give up and try again... Odds will not always be against you ^^

  • Heh, shit happens, try again.

Weth has DK defense stations around the Ryssk gate because other species' gunboats sometimes breach perimeter and go berserk in there.
Expect this each time you enter Weth and go dodgy immediately. No other way of "saving" except landing on Mirrtrak, 1 TL away from the gate.

  • Maybe it come useful: In systems where you know that NPCs spawn right behind JH (as Weth) never come in enemies in your back (escaping by jump) - lure them away or kill. Not doing so, you have much bigger chance to be spawn-kill by NPCs. Second: start use your mouse wheel and thrust key (usual TAB) repeatebly before!! you have 'ship control' and the same with bots/bats. This tricks saved my skin many, many times. Sure it is not 100% quarantee, but it works.

  • you can blame the mod if you are feeling dramatic or even wait for 1.9 but nothing will change
ALL FL mods and the original game will let you spawn at the last base, something else is simply not possible

  • Vardek dude, shit happens and this answer is enough, but having in mind what happen to me in past 2 years here, i will try to give you advice.

    1. Never sleep in CF (this game is so nasty)
    2. Always be ready when u jump through the gate or hole (put ur fingers at F and G-and if u think this is hard, just imagine me, i must use shift +F or shift+G every time)
    3. I saw and experience so much nice things as well bull shit in my life till now, which nor one game til now can show to me.
    4. Logical conclusion is CF is just a game but so fuckin close to RL (i mean when u live this game from all possible aspects ;))after all this is the reason cos i still standing here.
    5. Keep trying or "die" trying.

  • SMG Picard is lose first place in EPIC Galactic race because of spawn-kill by Nomads in LP .... price cca 200 mil.

Cro was after 10 days of hunting in IC with a trunk full of guns was killed in a similar way. over 100 mil

I can be 2-3 times kills with 6-7 guns in Weth. over 100 mil

I think there are many similar examples, but that's it hard life pilots. Me personally, it makes the game interesting. Factor coincidence that you can not influence.

Bond's post should be read 5 times, it is an old fox.

  • Hi Again
Many Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and info and especially SA_Forlon, you have given me hope:
"Maybe it come useful: In systems where you know that NPCs spawn right behind JH (as Weth) never come in enemies in your back (escaping by jump) - lure them away or kill. That as I remember is exactly what happened to me,just before I jumped to Weth there were 4 Savage Heavy Fighters bearing down on me and the jump hole saved me (or so I thought!)
now I understand why I was destroyed, they followed me to Weth and I was spawn-killed by them instantly when I arrived in Weth so really it was my fault for not luring them away
or killing them before I jumped. I honestly didn't think that they followed you through the jump-hole so I relaxed thinking I'd made it and as soon as I appeared in Weth Boom!.
I will try again and hopefully this time I'll make it.I thought I knew Crossfire by now but it still has surprises, which for me makes it an even better mod than I already thought it was and
without this forum I would have stopped playing,so many thanks to you all, see you in space.

... I rather think that they send info for patrols on other side. Dunno how this really work (it could be only coincidence), but this is from my experience. Few times when I was destroyed right away when enter system was when I "escaped" by jumping.

I second that ... completely....it WILL get you killed at some stage ...

I normally make a run for the place I want to re-spawn FIRST, dock and then undock and then go back into the are of interest.

    Kind Regards

Actually Forlon, I believe there is somewhere between a 50% to 70% chance of a United Dom GUNBOAT wing jumping into the Weth system when you do anytime you come through the gate.

This leads me to believe the Doms are sending these gunboat "assault" wings from the other nearby occupied systems from another location not shown in the game to the Weth gate, theoretically. For RP purposes, I can only assume the United Doms have figured out how to "piggy-back" their ships into the Weth gate from another jumpgate source as we jump through the Weth gate... So because we are friendly, therefore they see this as the best attempt to mount an "blitzkrieg" assault on the Dom'Kavash Defense Stations in the confusion of friendlies and hostiles appearing in the system. So since we are usually a nearby target they will destroy us and Dom'Kavash alike and since we are usually the closest target, we usually get targeted FIRST.

As explained before Vardek, use the tactics with bats & bots, your mouse wheel(thrust) and afterburner to keep from getting destroyed when jumping into Weth. Sadly there is no real alternative to dealing with this annoying phenomenon.(of which I can only assume is by design)

  • inner core is a great challenge and been there myself alone a number of times to clean the dust out of my engines and sharpen the wit and reaction times and return to sirius for a rest lol. but one thing i refused to let it beat me so i continually went back for more to i did succeed and the vast exploration too. but keep at it vardek the reward is at the end of the tunnel
