  • because it´s a funny way to start an uncontroled flaming ;)

    Tip:
Police: If you see someone smuggling -> fine
Pirates: If you see someone smuggling -> tax
Merc: If you see someone smuggling -> offer escort or hunting services.
Smuggler: If you see someone smuggling -> kill the competitor

  • Don't think it's just Pirates and Mercs that Smuggle though, I've see many Police that also smuggle. It makes my blood boil :cursing:

But in some cases, I don't mind. Just More people to kill ^^ But just because I don't mind doesn't mean it's not unfair. The only problem I can't seem to get past is... You smuggle to get money, you get money to get good stuff, And you get goods stuff to make it easier to kill your enemys, But when your a Smuggler. You don't really have any enemys to kill, because you wil be running to get more money and stuff... They might have a fighter somewhere. But then who would the kill? If they are not Smuggleing then they are within the rules of the cop so we won't attack them, Pirates will still fine them I suppose... But then they will do what they do best. Run.... In many ways, The smugglers lisence is confusing to me. In the end, All you are doing is making money, And now we go back to the begining again... And if the smuggler clans do have enemys to kill (Most likly Cops) they will slowly turn into Pirates and call them selves Smuggs.... You can't win!

What would the smuggler clans do apart from smuggling? What will they do with their money? The only reason there are not many smuggler clans around is because of those 2 questions.

  • @DR: hmm, I expected something like you posted. But "good guys" had to solve this situation ... and way(-s) how to do it within current server rules was found ... not easy and not as "fast" but still ...

Exist some reason, except that this is hard to detectable or punishable, why must "bad" boys use this? I'm really curious :) . ... I not expect that things change until 1.9 but sometimes I'm too pessimistic :D

@Fud: I think that you may be surprised how can be Smugling as clan RP attractive if only those license will be allowed to trade BMGs :D

  • PvP is 80% of the game while most of it is a direct result of RP interaction between players

... why the hell else would you play this game - other than exploring, doing missions, killing NPCs etc.

CF is not a chat platform either

the Smuggler licence is kind of obsolete as it gives no advantages as of yet... things are fine as they are atm; people are just too lazy to find out other ways to make money

  • playing with frends is not good reason to play crosfire ?
kiling some npc helping new ppl ?

way ALWAS have to be kill this one kill that one >< and no it is 10% of the game, countre strike is 80% pvp

in freelancer you need funds to fight, money to reaper and munision, you have to cover WAST distances
tryding is BIG PART of playing crosfire, or doing misions for money. weapons, armor upgrades, ships dont have % to pvp damage or devence (that mean they are not made ONLY for pvp :))

players choose to fight all the time and it is ther bisnes, if this is wat they like :> i dont like pvp cuz i sux, i dont have the time to lern and practise, i am sick of hearing how much i sux compere to other players :>
i choose other kinde of RP non agresive :P

  • i would complete Spiky's comment by saying that if ppl would respect the rule and trade BMGs only WITH a Smuggler license, everyone would just go on by their business because the smugglers would be easier to control and hunt. The problem is now that everyone has become a drug dealer because it was paying, without any consideration to the roleplaying in general.

And eventual Smugglers would have one of the most interesting RP of all : the undercover life !!! having virtually limitless money to hire mercs for protection or to eliminate rivals... Having pirates vying on their valuable cargo and police trying to throw them out of business by arresting their traders...

    @DW : great tip ! :D

  • the 4 RPs are basis for getting the ball rolling and maintaining the action. Of course, the most basic interaction is "kill an enemy" and the 4 RP decides the enemies for each. But you can use your imagination to extend your RP and customize it a bit. Hopefully, you can find ways of playing RP without having to shoot ppl. But unless you are nice with everyone, you'll have to shoot someone from time to time...

The only thing that you must remind when you make a custom extended RP is not to go to the opposite of your main RP (ex : Police smuggling, Pirates acting like rebel police, mercs not collecting bounties, smugglers taxing, etc....)

  • i think it queit funny how do u think most Police make there money BMGs and they are good at it coz they arnt suspected xD 8o

  • He is babbling that, removing the /setbounty, BMGs and 'that' would make this a normal boring mod (?) and therefore there would be no point in shredding tears.

Or in other (very delicate) words <3 Op because he could have put a password on the server (OW MAI GAWD) - yet he did not do such impertinence.

  • Spiky, I don't know how the hell we did RP before 1.7 around here. Removing all the in-game commands , bounty command, BMG's and such. Must have been pretty boring! No wait....it wasn't, there was actually MORE rp and action! Not to mention people actually DOING their RP. Spoiled children.

  • I knew everyone would have an opinion on this! :) And many posts were quite interesting. So what have I learned so far?

    1) OP clearly designed BMG's and Smuggling Liscence so that only those with a liscence can buy black market goods.
    2) The mechanism for enforcing this is not in place yet and anyone can buy/transport BMG's.
    3) A large number of players are using this technical "loophole" to make huge sums of money in a short period of time.

Isn't taking advandatge of a technical loophole in a game to advance a character's rank or stats called an "exploit"?

Why is it not enforcable? What happens when a player taxes with no pirate liscence? What happens when a player makes a private contract to collect a bounty but doesn't have a merc liscence?
What should happen if someone smuggles BMG's without a liscence? Maybe the same thing that happens to anyone else that RP's without a liscence?
