As I was flying thru Leeds on my way to Sol I was asked to explain why I own/fly a Redemption VHF by an SA player. What does it matter what ship I fly?? And you know who you are if you read this, who are you to be hassling me anyway, if I may ask that is. I'm not here to tread on anyone's toes but the game is called "FREE" Lancer, so I believe I am entitled to play as I please as long as it's with in the rules, yes? and I'm not troubling anyone else.
Why am I being asked to explain myself??

Crossfire is a "RP" mod. Clans have their own system in which they are entittled to set specific rules.
The Redemption can be found in one of those "owned" systems by "CFPD", which has rules regarding passing and trading rights.
Of course, you are free to break those rules, but you have to face possible "retaliations" from CFPD for doing so.SA having different agreements with CFPD, we may also report to CFPD illegal activities.
(This is of course RP - you are not going to be banished or something for this, but may be hunted down by CFPD,
although as far as I know, you may also be "cheered" and greeted as a hero from pirate factions :p... it is a RP choice)Regarding this matter, I invite you to read more about clan systems rules on those boards
-
So you are cops, after all.
The point is some clans have restricted the sales of ships/equipment from their systems. Check the Systems' rules board to see what is considered ok.
-

No, Silver Arrows are not Police (heh, as Ryelous said only XENO-cops ), but we can help our allies if needed. Police RP is much extensive. ... In this particular case we can ask player about ship (polite ofc ) maybe fight him (depends on circumstances ) but we for sure will be not chasing ppl around CF universe. -
So you are cops, after all.
Yep.
XENO-cops.
We issue (permanent)traffic stops on all hostile aliens by use of ship weaponry.
-
Ahoy Zoolamon, you probably should align with the pirates here around - no matter if you really want or not. But pirates don't matter of restricted stuff - and especially not from coppers ahm flatfoots systems. CFPD has missed to stop you in their system so they cant do anything now. -> BTW Thats usually for coppers.
My advice: You are free to ignore all hails directed to you, from either SA, CFPD or any other allied clans amongst both. They cant help you any further. Please have a look at LP or Fallen, They know how to support you and or keep your back free of ahm rusty raw materials aka coppers or their derivatives.

yes its called Freelancer
but online is should be callled Clanlancer
-
2Huor: ROFL ... and yes, more pirates = more fun
2oldgit: hmm why? ... there are more freelancers in space. They can do what they wish. Clans are for ppl who think that been freelancer is not enough fun for them and seeking something more or different.
-
no if you want to do what you wish
play single player.
freelancers must expect restrictions when playing online
some systems and equipment are not available to them
so you need to read all the clan rules
after that you need to stick to non clan systems or ask clan members
for pemision to enter the system or purchase equipment from them
if you dont it can get interesting
-
Hehe i forgot to mention SMG. Always a good decision anyway. And the good - you must not align with them to use their anti copper services, they always feel comfortable to make coppers lives harder - just for fun's sake (OK there is always beverages included - but the more beverages the funnier the situations become ;D )
edit: Sorry oldgit - nothing is restriced - its called freelancer due to the free choice to free lance around. Free lancing doesnt mandatorily mean you have to care for any stuff around that actually is not protected and thus free to get. It has always been in the clans duty to secure their systems in time. If they missed this date they have to watch their property being used. @Zoomlamon: Dont care - just do what you want to do Just stay in touch with some pirates or hire some mercs from px (unfortunately ioc wouldnt do any jobs agains the coppers - for some certain reasons). And PX maybe dont mind to take that much money from you - especially not against CFPD as they are nearly (i accent - nearly) are on war with them
-
In my opinion, you spy for the police - you are police.
-
Zoolamon, you've just been asked, nothing more. As freelancer you can buy it, at least the real freelancers (explanation in next phrase)
Clan members even get killed all arround if they steal it without permission (aka pirates, mercenaries and CSF). Just that some freelancers are on a band/side, like CSF (which is not a clan, but half the server's players who fight for unviersal domination by individualism and destruction, against ASF who fight for unification and peace), and those freelancers, or hostile clans recruits do get more than 'asked' about their ship
This is why OP_R8R (the admin) worked to create and place a BIG clan banner in front of the gates, showing you clearly that's somebody's territory.
It's like, you are free to do what you wish, until you visit your friend's house, there you do what your friend wants as a guest
Shocky, don't take it that way, else: you kill for the police --> you(PX) are police so pirates may kill you on sight. Or not ? Contract/bounty/agreement/clan agreement, it's not always the same, but doesn't say what you are.

My thx to everyone who replied to my post. In case you haven't already figured it out yes I am a noob to FL crossfire MP, so I expect to get a few things amiss while learning my way around.
In relation to the matter of my ship (Redemption VHF), Yes I bought it from the CFPD system and a CFPD player was in system at the time and even chased me to X3043 and shot me down for not paying his system tax but he made NO comment on me having this particular ship. I read the server rules a few times but have not had opportunity to read clan rules yet. Did I miss something in the server rules that makes reading clan rules mandatory? I realise it is probably a good idea to do this an will get to it . Perhaps there could be a set of links in the server rules to clan rules to make it easier for new ppl like myself
At the moment I am neither police/pirate/merc or smuggler, still trying to gear up , meet ppl, make some friends and eventually decide what role I wish to play. I am an ex WoW player 3 yrs of that game playing every day and I had had enough so I dug out my old favourite FL and looked at mods available and crossfire looked simply AWESOME. It's a magnificent mod and will take some getting used to so I apologise for any offence to any one I have caused already in my short sojourn here so far. Thank you to all who have helped me along in my Crossfire journey so far.
Good hunting/trading to all : )
