Call it stupid if you wish but all I've seen since the very first announcement of cf1.8 back in 2007 was nothing but criticism, attacks on swat, how OP is demoralized on not going on, how the community isn't doing its part.....you know i can REALLY go on if you want me to. And the best part is, all the threads containing these facts are there (unless OP deleted them all).

Everytime its the same story - OP feels bad blames people and we feel sorry and show our support. But this is not the first time he has blamed the community for not bringing its part like in this thread. Exactly WHAT is it you want us to do for you OP? I ASK YOU HERE AND NOW. TELL US!!!!

Stop bitching and moaning. Its bloody annoying now! If you want help then ask. Oh wait you already did in many other threads you made in the past. You got posts where help was given by some loyal members and what happened? was the help appreciated or ignored?

Seriously OP. Just bloody well delete CF1.8 if that's your wish.No one cares anymore because you dragged it out for too long. You are the most childish adult I have ever seen on any forum....more to that your the bloody creator! I just want to know why you go on like this every month or two....is it personal reason that drive you to bringing your frustration out on us? or is it just some additional attention you want to make you feel better?

You know in the past we all....no THE ENTIRE community kept on praising you on how you are a mod god and that your work surpasses all and you go and be humble by saying "every mod is good in its own way and deserve equal respect" just to throw it all away by yet again, blaming the community.

Look at them, every single person in this community is willing to go with you all the way, everyone respects you, but you! You have the nerve to pull this crap off everytime.

So here is this part. I will no longer support CF1.8. In fact I will no longer even show support to the swat community.That includes me being apart of PX, I don't wish them to be blamed because of me. I do not wish to waste my time by reading the depressing posts of a mod god who cant release his mod for his own personal reasons and doesn't want to accept credit where credit is due.

Truly I give the best regards to the future of the swat community.

On top of that Elixer, and anyone else who wants to talk shit, and complain that OP isnt doing his job. OP spends practically his life savings, and more so in order to keep this server going, and to do everything he can to make it better and bigger, and how do people repay him? You all treat him like crap for supposedly not doing his part, and taking longer and complaining about the problems in Swat and the community. I dont see you other people (Except the modders and clan leaders of course. Thank you all for the support you do give. ^^) spending most of your money just to keep this place alive. No one has the right to tell OP when to release the mod, or how to handle the community, he is pretty much the mayor of CF and has every right to do what he does, even if its irrational. Are all his decisions good ones? Maybe not, but its something we all have to deal with and try to find solutions for. When he feels that the mod is complete, and that the community deserves it, he will release it, but not until then so why doesnt everyone just shut up and be patient and work on the other important tasks at hand such as bringing this community back together like it once was when I first joined CF 4 or so years ago.

Well im not exactly saying that your decisions are irrational, or bad, in fact I personally agree with every decision youve made, I probably would have done the same thing myself if I was in your shoes. Im just stating that for those people who might think that you are making bad, irrational decisions.

I haven't posted for sometime now, mainly due to the fact CF1.7 kept crashing after every time it updated with content.dll errors.

In other words, CF1.7 got removed from the computer.

I, like everyone else have waited for CF1.8, and I'll wait for as long as it takes Op to finish / release it, and hopefully, it won't crash as it's, to me, a totally new mod, it's been tested and retested.

Sure, it's frustrating when you hear it's going to be released soon, but it never has been. I haven't a clue what's involved, I leave it to people like OP, I may not agree with his attitude at times, but hell, it's his work, and I respect that fact.

So as far as I'm concerned, until it's released, I'll play whatever mod I want, especially as I paid for the Vanilla CD, and bear in mind without the original, no mods would ever have been released.

I am reminded of a movie I saw long ago about Michaelangelo (I forget who played the roles). The artist was working at the top of a very high scaffold, laying on his back, and obviously tired. The pope asked the artist in frustration, "When will you be DONE with this work?" The artist answered, "When it is FINISHED!"

Moral of the story: you can't rush a MASTERPIECE. OP increased both the scope and volume of the work in CF 1.8 to a level never before contemplated, attempted or seen in a FL mod. Museums around the world are filled with masterworks that took time to complete; on rare occasions some of these are taken on tour so more people can see them. The Sistine chapel can only be seen 1 place, and CF 1.8 will be much the same...

BTW: imagine how much longer the work on top of that scaffold would have taken if the artist had to climb down himself every hour to get something to drink, do his ablutions, get fresh materials, etc.! He obviously had the help of people with no artistic ability whatsoever at least conrtibute to the work by providing encouragement & refreshment, and it's hard to tell which was the more important! Take this chance to do the same...

Michale Angelo didnt go round showing screenshots/pictures of his work, telling peole how far thingS were progressing etc... which imo was wrong to do as it only leads to assumptions from people to as and when it will be finished...
The part where you say you cant rush a master piece is very true and even though i dont know OP personally i know his nature and being a perfectionist is the worst thing you can be when trying for something like this...aslo it is not in his nature to accept failure from others and to suffer fools lightly..so i guess you lot have pissed him off once to often..

Some folks have a lot on their plates and some not enough. I couldn't do what OP does, so I wait. If an elephant daddy can wait 2 years to see what he's made, I can wait longer than that to see what someone else has created.

I used to program in assembly language, but I am lost in Mod development. I can offer suggestions, but the grunt work I have to leave to the pros. I salute them all.

To those of you who are frustrated with the 1.8 wait. You obviously have very little else in your lives. If you are bored that bad, go play with yourself until you forget why you were bored. Then come back and enjoy what you have. If you hear each tic tock of the clock, then you have issues well beyond waiting for the 1.8 mod.

If you played every open player mod and every multiplayer mod until you were exhausted, then you may have something to bitch about. Until then...be happy that you're not old, homeless, hungry or crazy. A good day for some of us is waking up. Simple huh?

Try making games on a 4-bit mono-color computer. That was easy compared to the MODs of today. You Modders are awesome. And, I for one, do not care if you take your time to do it right the first time out. Just, do it before I die, okay?. That gives you about 30 to 40 years, I hope.

so is this mod out becuse the severs say 1.8 and when i try to download it from the swat site it goes to this shit about a sever being depresed and i know i havent played this mod mutch but i would like to still play the severs

Oh for crying out loud, are these arguments still around? I think it's fair to say it's time to cheer up, everyone :)... The frustration,is it done, when it will be done, I bet it will be done by the date x, I hope there will be dockable space pancakes... I mean, I haven't been around for a long time, because of a general lack of time, and I don't know the entire argument, but this is what I see. Still, it all doesn't matter, and it shouldn't, because of this:

Freelancer itself is something very brilliant. A true gem of computer tehnology, atleast from my perspective, one of the most enjoyable games of all time. If there's someone out there who is willing to polish that gem for YOU and for FREE, you should respect that. Period.

So it takes long. Took a couple of thousand years to turn a chariot into a formula 1 racecar. Was it worth the wait? Ooh yes it was. So it shall be with crossfire aswell. Freelancer isn't running away, and I will be waiting for the day of its release... Until it's ready
