I have chars to protect Custodian ,when we have an intruder I always switch char immediately and get them out/kill them.

Even in Daedalus, for the sake of fair RP, i dock my char in Reese for protection of daedalus, i wouldnt leave it by the X3043 gate and just wait for somebody to jump in so i can F1 in on them. Sure, then there will be a chase, in which i will attempt to kill them, if they dont have permission to enter, which i will ask the rest of the LP online before i go hunt them. Its a shame BG do not also do this, instead, i had permission to enter Cust with my store, and was killed when i got there so i lost all my weapons which took me a long time to collect. After about an hour of saying, hey this is unfair, i got a token few weapons refunded to me by one of the BG and a begrudging appology which took a long time to extract. Having spoken to OP about it, hes going to be restoring my char.

The point im making here, is that the outlook of BG seems to be that its members attitude is to win 'at any cost' even if it means doing underhanded deeds which border on cheating, which damages their repuation.

Im doing you a favour by telling you this, otherwise your just going to find that nobody will RP with you, at least now you'll know why. Its constructive criticism, i.e. its an organised and subjective criticism that something can be done about, im not just sitting around saying your all assholes am i.

All i asked for is for BG to be sporting, and dock at the nearest Battleship in dublin, rather than leave their chars at the hyperion jh. To do this is not amazingly time consuming. the nearest place to dock nr. hyperion jh is 15.2km. How can that be such a problem ? because theres a 10% better chance of F1-ing in straight on top of the train thats why, and winning is all that counts, not the RP.

Oh, and as Si points out, loosing money should not be an issue, i agree that you should not be prepared to gamble money if you cant afford to loose it. Well, im not soar about this, how could i be, when witnesses were SL Gu$t and |RIP|Criminal, they were both hired for 25 mil each plus a 10 mil bonus per BG killed. This meant my trade run was not for profit, it was just for a bit of RP action, which never happened. Although i didnt make a deal about it when it happened, it left a bitter aftertaste, and that combined with the other instance leaves me with no option but to leave BG out of my Role Play from now on.

p.s. read the Mercs thread, you will have my Mercs opinions on what happened, they are not happy that they failed their mission in an unfair way.

With these threatening 'ban' words going around, it seems to me that some people think they are above playing fairly. Well if you want to carry on, i see it that BG are destroying RP rather than creating it, the very thing that people come here for, and that in turn means more people will leave.

Im dropping this subject now, i've make enough good points, its all here, and clearly there is no point in saying anymore on the subject, especially if it just sidestepped into accusations of F1'ing out in combat, which is a completely different issue. Im never going to go into Cust, or do a Sol run again, this way i can enjoy fair RP with honourable clans.

i make my point pretty clear now and i will say this just one time

to use F1 in combat is not allowed
to use F1 outside combats IS ALLOWED

its used on all servers to get chars in position for over 3 years now and it will not change
that has nothing to do with cheating or unfair treatment... its a simple to push effectivity

and yes BG like to win but we never would do something unfair and we did prove this many times before
not to mention that BG has done more for the RP in the last few weeks than most others

oh and i really have enough of this fucking "oh that is unfair" "oh this guy killed me" "i lost all my stuff"

I understand, however, what about F1 INTO combat ? i.e. i F1 switch char to appear next to my target. Nothing is said about this.

Have we agreed the rules regarding trains and escorts?

Will BG attack the fighters first and leave the train to try and escape?

On the main issue it seems if the server rule is that you cant F1 out of PVP, when you F1 into PVP (by coincidence or other reason) there should be a reasonable 5-10 second delay before the 'F1 into' person moves his ship. BG Si says he does this already and should be commended and made the rule for the server.

Since the BG blockade came into effect I only did the Sol run once cos I find it boring most of the time anyway and I am not that interesting in making loads of cash - in terms of making money, I must be the least productive pilot on the server considering how many hours I have put in.

What I have been considering though, is doing the Sol run in my VHF and to see what RP consequences that will provoke from BG.

no it was not directed to you... at least not only to you... there are many ppl here which came up with that crap in the past and im sick of it

if you have to leave the server because of critics then i cant help you... there are ppl that have to live with critics everyday and they dont think about leaving

about this F1 into a battle... thats plain stupid... coz you never know if the battle is where you left your ship or if its 20k away from that position
you only see it when you already F1 into that system and then it would already be too late

so either you are not allowed to enter that system if there is just the chance of a fight in there (no matter if they are really fighting or just sitting around and talking) or you jump in and break rules this way

ONLY F1 when you are attacked is not allowed... it always was this way and it will remain this way

Okay, well,
im not really the type of person who camplains when killed. In fact, i do not care at all about being killed. I even ask people to kill me sometimes because i cant be bothered to dock!. Its just the way it was done, i felt was done with guns, rather than brains.

If BG are going to shoot first ask question later then im sure i will do the same in future.

I do love this server and enjoy playing on it, like you say, i have to bear with it even if i have some critics. and the RP isnt exactly perfect.

I like BG_Fying_Si's idea of giving somebody a 5 seconds chance if they happen to F1 in straight on top of somebody. Si is a very honourable BG guy.

Yep - I am with you here. However, as anyone who has seen me fly a train can testify - I would need 10 sec grace period if someone happens to F1 into me by chance. It will take me at least 5 seconds to decide which way to go.

And Saxony, it tears my heart out to hear of all these probs you been having with your train, why dont you give me a shout - I wont charge much - only a couple of PPCs as you will probably be paying more for my company than for your protection.

I think OP has made it very clear about f1. According to the rules f1 into combat is legit and f1 out of a system to avoid combat (creeping) is legit . f1 cuts both ways.

When trying to run the blockade why go straight to the gate? Why not fly around for a bit and wait for defenders to f1 into the system? If defenders just want to stay by the gate and not chase the smuggler then f1 out of the system and try again later. After a few times the defenders will see they must pursue for RP to work. So instead of complaining and name calling, try some strategy. This game is about fun and good natured banter.

i will stop posting about the F1 creepers but the ones who F1 when in combat i will still make best efforts for them to be punished under server rules and i will still blacklist them from being given a chance to drop ect in the future (this only applies to me)

my views as a legitimate trader(ahem) have allready been voiced on this matter many a time, if you want to run the sol BMG route in your train expect to be bloody shot at! take/hire an escort if neccassary, you earn 60 mil from the damn trip anyway!

i would never F1 out of the blockade coz its fun to try and break through, thats what it is all about - FUN!!!!
Si, Sanny and Tassie, aswell as other freelancers hired for the blockade can tell you all i allways rush the blockade, allways un escorted, and 99% of the time i get through. with some interesting rp conversations between me and my persuer.

I had no problem with the posting on this thread, until I reached page 5. I was not aware that people used F1 to transport themselves to a new location in an instant. And that may well and true been ok for 3 years (or however long it's been), but you will not sit there and wave the RP flag if you pull that crap.

I am an old school roleplayer. I have been into the "scene" for a very long time and played a great number of PnP as well as computer based RP games. And using the F1 key in the manner described is using Out of character (OOC) info as In Character (IC) info. It is not cool in the majority of RP settings, and I question the use here.

Granted that it would be dull to guard a system all day. But if that is what you set out to do, then do so. Don't use some half-assed excuse of RP to jump in and out at your leisure.
If you truly want to RP a blockade and not be bored. How about setting up patrol routes? That would involve travel to the setting. You could also set these partol routes with shifts. So a set amount of people take turns "on duty".

I like the idea of the blockade, but it should be done correctly. Cause calling it anything close to RP related in it's current state is a big pile of BS.
