background to the California / Sol blockade

I am going to post my 2 cents real quick.

I don't see where RP is dull at anytime, especially when you see two clans(CFPD & LP) consistently duking it out, long distance hunt and chases, not to mention the private name calling in order to fire things up.

I see BG placing interest in Dublin in order to stir up some action there, I see MW getting involved in multiple acts, I see DC starting to return to the server.

Not to mention, I see UAC slipping by the blockade on a regular basis while BG and CFPD are tied up in pvp with escorts and pirates.

What I DON'T see is CSF taking control of THEIR space.....like DUBLIN.....O.o ( all the while ASF is setting up shop)

So lets discuss RP some more.

Don't go there about SP duties and the countless hours some of us put into it.

In my little time here I have seen reloaders and pilots that by all rights should have fixed their hull before engaging in PVP with me.

This BG guy in Hyp or Sol was just hanging around for ages - maybe already had a PVP and should have fixed his shields and hull after that - but he didnt - we PVP and I beat him - I saluted him for his honour. He fought with 50% hull and challenged me.

Other people reload in trains when attacked - some dont - some run and some F1

Some people do this F1 creep thing - which is so funny.

You accost some people and they tell you they are too busy to PVP - you can engage them anyway or respect their wishes.

Some people you can warn many times and they dont respond at all - then you kill them cos they were warned.

I think everyone is different and wants dif things from Crossfire - despite it being a PVP server - somepeople just want to trade. Some people will treat every cargo as their true life savings whilst others will laugh away a loss of millions.

Well - apart from reloading in combat - I dont have a problem with anything else - even F1 out of combat - cos - let me admit it - I have wanted to do it many times against Sev/ Gunny/ Dopple/ Argos u name it.

It takes something not to reach out for the bots and shields buttons - it really does.

I would say if someone does anything you dont think is honourable - just note it and get them back!!

Mercs are available and some even do jobs for free!! You will find on this server - many people can advise on how to get justice.

Wavey the beauty, though, would be that everyone is NOT self-sufficient, and must act as a society in role-play.
i see the dilemma though, just that the server is prettier on the other side... i mean that if we had to work together to make it serverside. Anyway...

What are you leaving for? we shouldnt be angry at one another for expressing opinions on RP, f1ing and the like.

I've been in low spirits for a very long time... I come here to have fun and instead it's becoming just another thing to stress me out. Nobody needs to stand up for me; I gamble by speaking my mind every time I post and there are consequences for that... Wavey should feel free to bite my head off whenever he feels like it... I made a bad first impression my first week here and have somehow managed to irk him every time we've crossed paths since. I just hope that he has as much respect for me as I do him. No one need to leave or get a hissy fit over a topic like this. All that needs to be done is for all egos to go right out the window. And look at the problems each of us have objectively.

When I suggested to remove the system ID in the player list I meant just that. Just the part that tells what system someone is in. The rest of the list serves a legitimate purpose and hinders no fun in existing.

I see alot of diffrent view on how this would have a negative effect. And I can agree on some points to a degree. But I still say that the list in it's current state kills alot of the unknown facors. And it's those factors that would truly make it interesting.
I agree that you can't always win. But you will be hard pressed to find players that would willingly enter dublin with 3 BG in that system. It's just not gonna happen. So I still say that it would be a nice feature to remove.

Short of that it's the same thing that has been suggested before.
That people stop using F1 as their own personal warp portal and start actually traveling to the systems where they want to be.

ROFL. Dude many people challenge the blockade in Dublin. Even if 6 BG in Dub. There are also other trading routes.

The location id and f1 add to the difficulty of CF. Players should learn the skills to cope with these factors instead of saying no fair please remove. Strategy as well as good combat skills are required here.

The reason some of the CF veterans get annoyed about these topics is because instead of the noobs taking the time to search the forum for these same subjects they just make another post. They often start out by telling everyone how great they are and how much experience they have bla bla bla. Then they post a critique list. Its the same thing over and over. If you decide to stay around for a while you will see what i mean.

I am sure that people challenge the blockade from time to time. That was never in dispute. I do however belive that a majority will look at the player list and choose a diffrent path. Or just wait out the people in that perticular system. Without the system ID that would not be an issue. And it would add to the fun of the game. The unknown factor is always the most fun.

And this is not at all about skill. It never was. It was about some realism to the game. People talk left and right here about RP reasons for certain action. I find that laughtable in it's current state. There is an abondance of information and tricks here that seriosly hinders any form of roleplay. And it is being used without shame.

In these matters I rather be new to the server that a veteran. Cause a general effect of being "used to the swing" is the faliure to see beyond the box. I think this thread has more than a few good suggestions that would improve the game experience. But they are being comletely ignored by those that rather maintain the status quo.

This isn't a revolution trying to start. Just a few good suggestions that should be explored, in my opinion. Take it for what it is.

That is a legitimate concern about the list. And one that perhaps a solution can be found for.
But note that I never advocated the removal of F1. Just the use of it. People should hold some responsibilities in their actions. And a policy of not using it as a means from travel would be on their own part to uphold.

This is called "The Limbus", neither hell nor heaven... a suspended state.

i myself would have thought it means once you push the f1 key there would be a delay of 40000ms before you are given the popup screen to exit or change characters. Which if that would be so i think would solve alot of bickering about f1ing out during pvp...or couldn't hurt. It might also make people think that f1ing out during pvp would be useless because by the time they are given the popup screen to do so it would be all over for them...So it might be best just to go ahead finish the fight win or loose...I think thats how it should be set, Then that way you still have the option to f1 out when you are docked or no one else is around bothering you.

Well you guys have your extended F1......takes me damn near 45 seconds to a minute to make the switch.....some players told me 2 or 3 minutes for them.
