  • Yes its that the ones I seen looked like worms, not as complex like the ones in the trailer, just like little dragons with lots of pieces, floating around casting creepy shadows, was bit scary xD

And, apparently some went through 23+ galaxies already, trying to go for the universe center. lol

I remember you asked about Atlas PASS V2 and V3:

Seeing that video made me curious about MODS, and oh there are some beautiful ones out there, Low Flight, Cockpit Freelook and Denser Forests are just a great addition. No more missing the landing pads ! As you can fly lower. And well looking to the sides and all inside the cockpit feels more immersive. Maybe quick flight too but with all engine upgrades you dont need it at all. "Level of Detail" seems like a great mod to avoid having stuff load too late and pop right in front of your ship or so. "Busier Space" brings extra action to the game.

So many Science ship seeds, but I think I still prefer my normal original one with it's interesting illuminati icon and camouflage color (seems to change color like in the pics I posted her before): 169 NMS Science Ship seeds (Pictures + Seeds) - Album on Imgur

  • yeah... and so far no reply which is symptomatic for that game

Alot of activity on the official twitter account all the time prior the game release and then... nothing.

Total ignorance of the problems, no communication... for a very long time not even patch notes (until directly requested by the players) and even these now available patch notes are hard to understand and mostly a copy/paste job where you can find PS4 fixes in the PC patch notes.

The games sales number are expected to go well beyond 700.000 sold copies at a price of 59€ which easily adds up to more than 40mio € revenue. Just alone the steam charts had in the first week after the release a peak of 212.000 online players. Today you can find roughly 1000 players on these charts so more than 99% of the players have abbandoned the game completely after a very short amount of time.
And we are talking about the PC version of the game here... which has access to modding which made the game better than it original was. PS4 has no modding support.

A poll showed that more than 40% of the players want(ed) refunds after seeing what the game really is like. Many others voted to keep the game, hoping for future updates before they play again.
The official reddit page has more active visitors online than players in the game. While after the first few weeks many players tried to defend this game many of them meanwhile changed their mind which most likely is due to the lack of communication from the developers.

The ASA investigations are most likely the coffins nail for this game.
Personally I am a bit surprised that these investigations are only against Valve and Hello Games.
GOG also does the same kind of advertisement for the game and Sony directly influenced the PR and presentation of the game.
In my eyes they sit in the same boat.

  • That happens when 3rd parties take directly influence on the development board without getting proper information in advance. Either those managers were lied on too or they ignored the warning and concerns from the developers, which i tend to believe in. Poor management and if people get refunded then this will have an impact on the poor developers too. The managers or companies who made the decision to release it prior finished development should bear the costs.

The idea of the game was great but the devs would have needed more time to finish it properly. A bigger team would have been necessary to finish it in shorter time. There have been press announcements prior release about this issue.
Multiplayer interaction could bring back players if they weren't totally driven away meanwhile because they are so frustrated.

The question is why only now for hello games, have there been any investigations for other games which promised and didnt deliver what they claimed? I think there are more than just this game.
Unfortunate - for the devs - there must be a beginning.

    signature.png

  • there have been such investigations on other games in the past
however there the developers communicated and resolved the problems with updates

a prime example of a game that was terrible in the beginning and evolved to be pretty good is "Destiny"

I just dont think that NMS would ever have been a good game because its not just a few bugs or missing content that caused all the problem.
    The game doesnt feel right.
There simply isnt something specific you can blame for.
No MP... ok most player could have lived with that.
But there is also no purpose in this game. Nothing you do has a value.
You can upgrade your ship and equipment but what for? There is nothing that requires you to do that. No big enemy that you cant kill with your starting weapons... so why upgrading?
Nearly nothing you can do with a 48slot ship that your starting ship wasnt able to do.
You can upgrade your ship to earn more money... but what for? There is nothing you can buy.
There is no point in exploring because... it does not matter.
There is no point in learning the alien languages... it simply has no influence on anything.
There is no point on improving the reputation.... that has no influence on the NPCs.
There is no point to follow the Atlas path... as we meanwhile know the game does not really create a new star... that was just fake.
There is no point going through the center of the galaxy (in 30 galaxies).... it simply is pointless to do that.
The game is pointless... its an interactive screensaver.
The game is so prodecural that everything looks the same... the stations, the outposts, the npcs, the plants, the surfaces... animals... after 5 hours in the game you practically have seen everything that there is to be seen.
And then there are the gameplay aspects.
You are supposed to do the same stuff over and over again for nearly nothing.
There are players which have found the Atlas pass v2 and 3 after hundreds of hours of gameplay.... just to find out that behind the locked doors that require these passes is absolutely nothing of worth.
The game was artificially stretched into length.
Jumping 1000ly actually lets you jump ... dunno exactly... maybe 300ly. Yes.... a 1000ly jump brings you 300ly close to the galaxy core. WTF? The devs have increased the distances between the stars before releasing the game because they feared players would make too fast progress but they forgot to adjust the light years.
Also the fact that you have to hold the activation button for 5 seconds for pretty much everything before something happens on the screen is just to slow player progress down.
Ive read that in a patch they meanwhile changed it so you have to press that button multiple times now over multiple seconds to activate something.
The developers seem to aim to make the gameplay as complicated and enlogated as possible. That does not have anything to do with fun or intuitive gameplay.
The whole UI is a mess and so primitive and discouraging to use.
And then there are the performance problems and crashes.

There might have been a good idea behind this game but in nearly every aspect the game is disappointing.
It feels a bit like the developers have never played a fun game before.

I remember two interviews with sean murrey where strange things were said.
The first one was where he showed his game and the interviewer asked "why do you show us that scene again" because exactly the same stuff was shown in a different interview and he replied "its just because its a cool scene". Meanwhile we know that the scene was faked.
And the other moment was an interview shortly prior the release where he said that he hopes not to fail the expectations.... which in the end did.
I think that guy played nasty game with the players out there and knew what would happen when the game is out.

  • That sucks. Was a nice game for an Alpha state not full release AAA game, many games with more detail than NMS still in Alpha right now, like now old Planet Explorers.

  • I guess that one from main issues is that NMS devs and/or publishers poorly predicted how will gaming world evolve with time. It seems that procedural generation evolved much faster as was expected and also that it was faster/better implemented in other games. They reached a point when was possible release unfinished game (with a risk) or wait one, two or three years and then not been able sell it, because it become obsolete in comparison with other gaming titles. I only hope that this situation will help set some useful precedents, and that gamers will be much better protected against incompetent Producers in gaming industry.

  • The no mans Sky reddit page was shut down over night.
One moderator decided that enough is enough and set the whole subreddit on private. This locks out more than 150.000 subscibers.

The reddit Administrators are currently investigating.

  • :strafe: ... there is no way to stop rage critic storm if devs are silent. What really amazes me is, that this product is still available for sale at the same price ...

    Edit by

EDIT: I from curiosity checked Hello Games pages with NMS title there and saw that they had comments there available at some time, but it was disabled before release :) , no forums, no discuss with players, nothing.

    Edit by
EDIT: ehh, there is facebook page with comments ;) .. not much positive reading. ..and very likely locked too as last comments are month old.

  • Maybe it is not up to devs to communicate with the public. There are certain jobs (i call it management) to take over this task.
Consider that the team is very small and from my view they werent able to contribute to a full featured game release in that short time - as it was already clear in advance. I blame the managers and publishers for this disaster.

    signature.png

  • well, the developers are the managers
or better said Sean Murrey is

and he was very communicative prior the release... which all of a sudden stopped
Sony is the publisher but the Sony CEO already has critized Hello Games and Sean Murrey for their PR
with other words... Sony is blaming the devs.

Meanwhile the reddit admins have reopened the old NMS reddit page and asked the people to stay calm and not talk bad about the game.
In my eyes thats a big mistake. It draws a wrong and one-sided picture on the game. Thats not much better than false advertisement.
But well, reddit is reddit and most likely nobody will care what moderators and administrators want.

Ive played the game for 2 weeks after the launch... Ive tried to like it in the beginning and failed with that soon after.
Ive no idea where everything went wrong. For me personally the lack of communication is the main issue here.
The game is not like advertised... yes... alot of stuff is missing or completely frustrating... but if the developers had started to do honest communication the situation wouldnt be as bad as it currently is. They could have started to gather feedback from the players and announce a roadmap of future changes and improvments.
That would have been the correct way to deal with the situation. But nothing... not a single word. Thats a middle finger right into the players face.

They charged the players like NMS would be an AAA-game (59€ -> for gods sake it a discounted version) but in the end we got an alpha version of an interactive screensaver.
There are better early access games on steam which cost only 10-20€.
The best is... there is even a No Mans Sky Collector edition (explorers edition) for only 149.99$. The problem with that is... the people which ordered it until now have not received anything except the steam/gog download code.

  • And the 3000 bucks early bird guy is probably just a fluke from PR, false advertising too. No evidence of it and it's just stupid lol

I liked NMS's graphics and kept seeing new details much into the game, even though they were small, thousands ship combinations but on about 5 main classes. Same for planets, floating circles, floating flat islands, square garage-look like boxes, but that's about it. They did a nice try at not making you feel lonely/alone in that game with the assured critters, spaceships, capital ships (even though bit unreal, their warping) and those drones always around but in the end it still felt empty.

Apart from multiplayer which could've been fixed in the future (but I bet they would have a hard time at it on a game like this), the storyline part was just absent. Famous writer announced in PR ? There were only 10 atlas meetings and about same of Nada and the other guy meetings where these 2 were interesting, both are mini stories and side stories. No storyline.

Also the latest reports that they closed their offices. Even if its true that people visited that place and nobody was there and that after the release team members left the studio then this is still no solid proof of everything being completely dead.

They made alot of money and probably just moved to new offices that they couldnt afford previously. ATM thats all speculation.
