  • Actually the quality on PC is supposed to be better than on PS4.
Its said that the graphics look much better on the PCs which currently dont experience any of the problems.

Yesterday I found a new ship... 27 slots now.
Too bad that I was on a planet which had no zinc anywhere.... so i spent 2 hours running around on the surface trying to find a trading post where I can buy some resources to repair that ship.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,

    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • There are also trading machines on the walls with a big eye in any random base/shelter where you can buy zinc. And if you had a normal engine up, you can use the scanner in space (just outside athmosphere) it will point you to an abandoned building and trading post (at least for me).

PS: Holy, 117 Toxicity no wonder Gek work on "substances"

  • Yes, i was looking for one of these trading machines... but that took 2 hours.
Launching did not work because for some reason you cant launch if your impulse engine is damage (and that requires zinc to get fixed).

  • I see that you guys are enjoying yourself. I'm glad that atleast some people are enjoying it and not hatting it. When it comes to the performance issues, there is a way to fix it (i'm not sure if you did find it yet, if not i could do that for you). I've watched some videos and i know how the end-game is. I won't spoil anything of couse.

Post come pictures from your planets :D

    "Only the strongest will survive!"

  • there are countless of suggestions of how fix the performance problems.

    vsync off
    aa off
    af off
    disable steam overlay
    update drivers
    disable gsync
    use the experimental patch
    install the 2010 redist
    force tripple buffering
copy a specific opengl dll into the binaries folder
    ...
    etc.

    ive tried everything meanwhile

  • Did you restart the game, everytime that you did some changes to the graphics? The best way of remocing fps bounces ( it sounds crazy), is to set all setings to high, then restart the game, open it, set everything to low, restart the game, andopen it again, then set the settings you think are the best, then restart again and then should everything be okey xd

  • I dont know if anyone found the end game yet, reaching the center of the universe not just of the first galaxy, or second.

  • im pretty sure that the performance problems are not just some settings
I have tried all possible combinations for hours and its pretty clear that on the PC version alot is broken atm

the AA does not work correctly no matter which you select.
FXAA, SMAA or no AA ... all look the same
VSync seems to cause widespread problems
    the FPS limiter is broken
anisotropic filtering seems to be broken aswell for many players
    gsync causes problems
there are the overlay problems with steam which causes the game to flicker if enabled
there is a problem with SSE and the physics engine
there seem to be problems with opengl and nvidia cards
there are crashed on AMD phenom PCs
and alot of other weird stuff.

Im not blaming the devs considering how small their team actually is... but I hope they work on fixes soon.
Overall the game should actually run better on PC than on PS4 since the PCs usually are more powerful.
And the screenshots from the few PCs which are running well atm look really good.

and best... on PC there is modding support.

  • I believe it was the 1rst path end not the end game. Lots of videos about the path end but it gets you on the next path in that other galaxy and dimension, didnt see the universe center ending yet, if any o.o.

  • Ok, today the experimental patch on steam got another update.
Its a big improvement. Now the game runs smooth for me even on highest settings.
FPS still isnt that high... but remains constantly over 35 which is absolutely ok to play the game.

  • I think the reason for so many bugs, problems etc. is that they had to give out the game. They post-noted the game for like 3-4 times and they had to release it already. As you already said, they have a small team and ofc they need a lot more time, then for example bethesdas team needs. Anyways, they should fix all the major problems in less than a month i think.

Michael, watch this : No Man's Sky Review in Progress Commentary - YouTube

    "Only the strongest will survive!"

  • i think the current experimental fix is a major step in the right direction
meanwhile i have found a tropical world full of awesome creatures and despite the screen being completely full of planets and creatures the game runs well.

Other developers havent managed to fix this game in years... *cough* Cryptic STO *cough*

  • Never had any problems on PS4. nothing that looks weird. Performance could be better yes, considering that all is procedural rendered.
Also the shown screenshots here are not looking better (graphics) than on PS4.

Seems the devs focused on the PS4 instead on PCs. The game makes fun, however i havent found a path to follow yet. And i have no idea, where i can find the red crystal ball from the very beginning which offered to help and show me a path to follow.

  • i think i sold my atlas ball
    O_o
but there is one at the trader (probably the one that i sold)

  • When you meet with a "Space Anomaly" you can find your "Atlas path" again in case you strayed off it or never started it as you said no at the 1rst minute of gameplay ball, or anything like that.

What is weird for me is that I spent those balls and created the new star but I didnt see any cutscene showing the new traveller or so, I just continued as if nothing, as it said I'm "free to explore" now. Guess I also have to reach the center.

For me the balls costed 1000x mores to buy back, but still had enough in the end.

  • There's a NPC in the "space anomaly" station, in a random system, which will guide you to the next Atlas Interface so you can start/continue your atlas path when you're not on it already, for whatever reason.

  • you are free to go anywhere if you want... on the galaxy map there you can select the option of free travel

but you also can follow that altas path which guide you to the center of the galaxy (which is the end of the game).
When you start your first game you have by default a fixed path selected. After 3 jumps (4th system) you encounter an anomaly (IF you already have activated a monument on a planet once).

Thart artifact is an atlas space station with two NPCs you can talk to. They will guide you to the next atlas station. The distance to that station seems to depend on your current location. For me it was only 3 jumps but I have read that people had to travel up to 10 systems.
However, on that new station you finally make contact with altas and get told to follow the atlas path. You get fuel for the hyperdrive and eventually an Altas Pass V1 which you can use to open locked doors and containers.

I am still on the system where that 2nd atlas station is... and i think will stay there for a bit exploring everything.
