You are wrong there Michael. Atlas path does lead you to the center. It's the so called "shortest path" to the center. Btw did you do the day 1 update (i kinda forgot to ask, because if you did, you can chose 3 paths, and not the usuall two : 1. Atlas, 2. Free roam)?
-
It's not, there's 3 waypoint systems (except when it's 4 because of Nada and Polo's waypoints to black holes), one is the orange "shortest path to the center" system, one is free roam, and 3rd is Atlas path which doesn't go the same way as the center path, but to the closest artifact, and I finished atlas path spent the 10 balls and Im not any closer to the center. What about you ? Did you finish the atlas path and got to the center or just read reviews.
I have the global release game from GOG so it's updated yup.
Screenshot shows "Back on Atlas path" option gone.

Unfortinatly i don't have the game. I'm read everything online or watching a gameplay video, or review, or patch update etc. I wish i had it to play it for myself, but yeah, can't afford it....
I'm glad that you are guys enjoying it, bcs i'm tired of hearing only negative things. I'm glad that there are people enjoying it

Deep purple. And sunrise. Lighting, shadows, all look perfect.
Racing the sun is fun too, if it gets dark, you can just go up, fly to the other side of the planet and daytime it is !
PS: Flying with the animals.
PS2: I need a way to favorite locations so I can go back there and build stuff once the announced Building system update is out.
PS3: I've seen the ultimate being, challenged the bipedal sentinel walker, yet some Meat-eating diet critters got me jumping again right after jumping out of the spaceship...

when talking about flying animals...
if you need to scan them and they move too fast to track them....
just shoot down one of them and scan the roasted chicken on the ground.you also should try feeding animals (it works)

When i open the galaxy map i can see a red line, which is kind of a path to whatever system. It is however more than 10 jumps away as far as i remember. And it requires to have power for the hyper jump driver, which i can only create with some raw materials - which i think its plutonium and anti matter. However anti matter can only be bought at some locations and its hard to find those. I can create energy just for 2 or 3 jumps then i have to refill that crap. And that takes too long because i have to go to the planets, farm resources, find a vendor who offers anti matter and so i can continue.
What do you mean with activate a monument? You mean those monoliths that i can visit to solve the riddle and make progress with the alien language? Have activated already a dozen of these
Means i am catched with exploring and finding vendors that offer anti matter. Unfortunate there is no option to mark such stations, so once you left them exploring the other parts of a planets or you left the planet then its very hard to find these locations againSomething that should be improved somehow - an option to mark useful places on the map would be cool.

You are not supposed to jump from star to star, you can jump 10 stars away too (just keep pointing to the next star on the path), depends on your warp drive but it can go up to stars 1650 light years away or so.
Crafting line: Suspension Fluid -> Electron Vapour -> Antimatter
But you have to discover the recipe at "Manufacturing Centers" or live aliens riddles.Im not sure what "monument" you ask about. If it's about atlas path, it's "Atlas Interface" a huge rhomboid station in space.
But if you lost the "Blue path" line to them, you can find that path again asking it to the 2 NPCs on that "Space Anomaly" station (in space) which is spherical and has a PURPLE waypoint (not yellow like normal ones).
-
Never have seen it, where am i supposed to meet this gigantic double pyramid?
I meant those monoliths on planets surfaces, kinda like Stonehenge. -
First is that red orb anomaly you see right when your ship is crashed and asks you to give in to it's guidance or not. Then you complete the repair your stuff and fuel your hyperdrive and etc quests and it will "call" you to the stars by itself in 3-4 warp jumps but for me it was in the jump after I learned the recipe for the Antimatter which makes you self sufficient and comes with storyline text in it, then starter quests continue, which is why some ppl have it at 3rd jump and others at 10th jump.
Guide in images:
Screen of that manufacturing facility which gives you the Antimatter formula and secret story lines. After that you get this:
And the KEY Monolith is one that pops up in your radar right after the next warp like this:
AndGoing there will show this:
Then when on Map space it will guide you to the next Atlas Interface with a new path on blue lines. (Notice you can change paths with Q and E on PC, to center, free roam or atlas path, or black hole shortcut path when available from Nada/Polo)
And THIS is how the "Space Anomaly" station looks like, with NADA and POLO inside it, ones which appear on the secret message when you obtain the Antimatter formula:
That should be all, not much spoilers as I didn't show what happens after you activate them, but too many screenies.
TIP: For when answering the alien's riddles, pick the answer based on what they would answer: Korvax are peaceful explorers who praise the sentinels, Gek are traders and Vy'keen are warriors and hate the sentinels.
Late edit: Don't finish their Nukes though:
And WTF IS THIS ? (not my find, from the internet)

After the 3rd system jump you should get your first contact in space with anomaly.
After that you can see the atlas path on the galaxy map and where exacly you can find the next atlas station (that pyramid). What I dont get yet is that I have multiple choices on the galaxy map.
There is a way to the center of the galaxy... and there is a altas path (which currently leads me into the opposite direction). Dunno where to go and what the consequences are.
Another thing I am wondering about is.... how do you land on these landing pads on ground.
When I do manage to land on them then usually by luck.
Very often hit the ground 10m next to the pad.
Ive not figured out how to land exactly on these pads. I know that launching from these pads does not cost any fuel. So... it wouldnt hurt to know if there is a secret to landing.Oh and how in gods name can I get hands on a Altas Pass V2 or V3?
Ive read tutorials and went to the correct locations for meanwhile + 50 times without getting a pass.
Are there any requirements?I just had that nuclear bomb stuff today.... I helped to build it. That didnt have any negative consequences (not yet).
-
When you fly towards a landing pad you normally press S to slow down and the cockpit looks down so you are able to see some white marker targeting the landing pad. I think after you do it a few times you can guess when you're above it so autolander gets you there.
Atlas path is actually short, the way to the center will take a week at least, counting you have all warp upgrades. I spent as much time with Nada and Polo path as with Atlas path and I think it's not finished yet even though what Nada told me last seemed like departing.
There's a bug for Gek transmission towers that you can re-use them indefinitely, and get about a dozen crashed ship locations before it starts looping. Easy path for max slots ships, I find this after already having that though.
Science class ships are best if you want to see the planet below you (and landing pads xD). Ones with round cockpit.
I used something else instead of atlas passes v2 and 3 so I actually have no idea how to get those. Didnt try investigating either.

well i jumped to the 3rd system meanwhile and finished one milestone of the game
The map shows me an Atlas location, but thats 7 -10 systems away. I was told to visit a planet and activate one of the monuments there. The vocabulary i have meanwhile is pretty good, so thats not a problem any longer.
However making progress is. Aside from the 7 - 10 systems away mission point i need warp energy. And therefore i need antimatter, which i dont find. At least thats very hard to find. Although i have the knowledge to create the warp energy i dont have the knowledge to create antimatter. Very frustrating because, when i am caught in a system that does not offer antimatter, how am i supposed to escape and get to a location to buy antimatter then?Regarding landing pads: As Micheal wrote, you have to wait until you see the white crosshair targeting at the platform. Use the ships break to draw your nose towards it. But usually i have the same luck like you OP
But its not a big issue, because if you land next to a platform you eventually are lucky to meet someone else there and eventually also find a good ship or trade opportunity^^ -
the problem is that getting the nose down is not working well with that stupid auto pilot
to be honest I never seen that white docking thing before just because i cant really look downI got the recipe for antimatter relative early from a factory.
There you get lots of nice stuff.Regarding words..... well... i know about 300 words meanwhile but thats not much yet.
I think each race has more than 450 words. So there is still alot to learn.
But sometimes the words you already know are enough to understand what they actually mean. -
You dont try pointing the nose down, you press S to slower the speed and it automatically points down, while ur mouse is also down.
There must be some antimatter on one of the many ships at a space station or trading pads.
Tip for words: when at atlas interfaces, walk over all the small lightbulbs around the room, part of them have new words for you.
Only proper alien monoliths with interesting quiz tests seem to have "Atlas" words though so its very hard to get any atlas vocabulary at all even tho I know 400 words.
I think the achievements are very shallow, should be rebalanced, half of them are just too easy, able to max them in a single day. Babelfish included.

Apparently people call the unfunctional undetectable by scanner easter egg that looks like a huge monolith with a hole in mid... as a functional portal.
I visited it long ago and Im pretty sure there's nothing you can do with it... unless I missed something ? Any ideas ?
Inside the hole it just says Temp is stabilizing, and didn't find any puzzle to activate it lol.
-
From the game code these portals have activation triggers.
but it is not clear how to get that done.some people think its just cut content which does not work anymore
others developed wild conspiration theories around these objects.
Some people believe that the other ruins and monoliths are aligned in a way that they lead you to these monolyth. Others try to see patterns in the texture and geometry of these objects. Others believe that they can be activated if you have specific items in your inventory... or combinations of items. The whole hype around these monolyths gets fired by reddit users which got cryptic messages from people that have posted images and comments with coordinates and hints like "combination is the key" etc.
There meanwhile is a subreddit just about the Portals in no mans sky
No Man's Sky Portal HuntingTo be honest.... i think now that we know that its not worth to follow the Atlas path
people have tested the network traffic and confirmed that there is no communication with the server when you create a start
and the way to the center of the universe
which only resets your game in a different galaxy
this portal thing is at least a reason to keep trying different things in the game.
Edit byMaybe its something pretty simple like....
Dancing naked at a specific time around the stones while chanting the words you have learned, after you have put specific items in your inventory in the correct combination and sacrificed a jurassic pork with a Vy'keen Dagger. -
They are also finding more green alien looking multi tools like that one I linked long ago which I never seen in game despite trying, but just suppositions. Found a different transformers weapon though which splits into 4 parts when going on shooting mode.
So, nothing certain about that ? Im pretty sure that solving all the randomly generated monoliths around it or so has nothing to do with it, else they wouldn't be so randomly generated...
Portal to Earth could be nice. With the moon and all
Now reminds me of our user @Portalearth
I put my bet that it's just unfinished content. Happens with indie games.
Portal activated and being used in video:
You are right that people found all that stuff in the CODE, and Dialogs but parts are missing so it was only a dev trailer thing, in the trailer the planet name changes but I dont know, same as you can't warp without going out of planet's athmosphere as in that video doing it right from ground level. And those floating critters are scary. like floating worms or snakes going through air xD)
-
the floating snakes exist in the game
ive seen multiple screenshots showing them from regular gameplay
