Trade route tools and Crossfire

  • Lovely mod so far, even if it is making me go through the first 13 missions so that I can get to the Crossfire content.

However, does anyone know of any trade route tools that actually work with the Crossfire mod? I was playing with the following with "vanilla" Freelancer, but when I try to use them with Crossfire all hell breaks loose.
Freelancer Trade Route Calculator kind of works but is still having lots of problems, and returning next to nothing in many cases.
Freelancer Companion just crashes hard on startup.
Datastorm just pukes error messages all over the place, and doesn't understand the new systems. I have a feeling they hardcoded something they shouldn't have.
    and so on.

Anyone know of a trade route calculator that works with Crossfire? Or of a way to make the above work with Crossfire?
Or am I going to have to back to making my own spreadsheets? Which is not something I really enjoy.

    thanks.

  • DataStorm isn't compatible with Crossfire, as Crossfire is a huge mod, and there are lots of times OP has made multiple versions of systems, such as X3043, Omega-3, Kyushu, etc tht messes up its calculations in Datastorm, and stuff like Canis and IC systems are jumbled into one place. If you need to find anything in-game use the Lexicon link: https://swat-portal.com/forum/lexicon/Lexicon/ And if you need any help with Trade routes, Save your game then buy an amoured Transport and map all of the Commodites. (Dont know if this works on SP but it works on MP btw ;) )

  • never ever use any tools or other mods in the same time when CF is ur choice. never ever edit any files of the CF mod. most probably u will corrupt ur CF installation.

the only way to get a good overview for trade routes is this: take ship and go to all bases, buy one of each commodities. the more u continue the more u can scan the daily trade routes (trade routes change daily). this works for single player and multi player. best trade routes bring u profits of more than 50 million per hour, u would need a train for this.

  • Look
What I really like about FL CF or any other mod or game I have ever played above all else has been flying and exploring docking each new gate & jump hole and then exploring each individual sector.
Along the way you trade, fight and build, which you now can do in CF if you are in a clan.
Joi_Trent has got trading figured, he is a TRADER and knows on which day that next big trade is going to happen.
I have had some great tips from him and have made millions.

For myself I have still made millions, but I FLY FIGHT POD AND TRADE AS I GO .
JUST PODDING CAN MAKE YOU MONEY and in CF heaps of credits.

When you have your first train you will make 100 million quite easy and that is trading legally.
When you want to have a bit of extra fun you buy your smuggler licence and act like a rogue or pirate , avoid the constabulary and MAKE EVEN A WHOLE LOT MORE MONEY.

Just fight and trade and enjoy the flying, the more you EXPLORE .... THE MORE CREDITS YOU WILL MAKE.

SO MUCH YOU WILL END UP GIVING MILLIONS AWAY to help any NEW PLAYER STARTING OUT .

excuse the long winded story and any typos ......no.1 Enjoy the Game.

  • Back when these tools were created I convinced the developers to include code that prevents these tools to work with mods where such tools are considered "cheats".
FLcompanion was the first that included a fuction which simply crashes the tool if its used with a protected mod.
Datastorm a bit later also included a somewhat different protection.
Freelancer Trade Route Calculator delivers to a large amount false data.

They work on other unprotected mods... but they dont work here.

I see. So even in single player I'm going to have to spend the extra hours building my own lists.
OK then. I guess if it gets too onerous I can always just go play with another mod.

From my perspective, I play a game to have fun, not to spend extra hours on the same kind of tedious paperwork I'd do at my paying job. However, I'll see if I can ignore that in this case, just to get to the extra missions.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Trading in SP is not needed at all. High lvl missions after campaign (or in Open SP) plus selling escape pods into prisons give you all you may need. If you will do little search for bonus mission, you can have in campaign half more as 100m ... short to say, in SP moneys are not issue.

CF is primarily MP mod and therefore we have some restrictions. In MP are good reasons why are 'scanning' tools disabled.

Well, Id assume that players which played the mod in all the years had fun even without any extra tools.
It also doesnt matter if you play SP or not... the way how the market works is the same.

  • and btw, i never trade in SP. podding (= killing NPC-s, collecting their life pods and selling the pods to prisons) is more fun, profitable enough and less time consuming. mostly i don't even take any missions. killing battleships in New York is enough :D

I don't try to assume what others enjoy. I said "from my perspective" and that's exactly what I meant. I know that some people enjoy the necessary paperwork, or just play in such a way as to avoid it. Heck, 30 years ago I was playing "universe simulation" games that required that kind of paperwork and I know I enjoyed it then. Personally, and from my perspective, I just don't enjoy it now, which I why I was using such tools in the first place.

  • the point is that you dont need any tools or any paperwork to play and trade in crossfire
