My personal view.....1 player account is enough. If players can have more accounts...whats the difference with more than 1 pc? I also think that more than one player should be able to play from an IP address as far as more than 1 household member. I guess I see both sides of the issue.....I'm sure that admin could probably tell the difference if they choose. Also I think that the admin has better things to work on in the time. As I say, only a personal view point.
OP, Huor and the other ppl who developed Crossfire have gone to *great* lengths to make the mod a level playing field for everyone. It's safe to assume that everyone who plays here has a PC [even a crappy one] that is capable of playing Crossfire. However, not everyone has the financial resources to afford 2 PC's or an uber PC that can run 2 instances of Crossfire. Just because you can doesn't necessarily mean you should. Is it fair to those plugging away on one PC when there are people abusing the system of multiple logins to get ahead? Even if you're just mapping or whatever, the point is not everyone is capable of doing what some of these guys are doing. Is it fair to the players who can't, or don't? No, it isn't.
If it is, let it be known that I'm a retired PC techie [which most of you guys know] and I could probably frankenstein together 5 PC's that can run Crossfire whith my current inventory of spare parts. Would that be fair? Would it be ok for me to log in with 5 accounts? One mapping, one fighting and 3 trains in formation doing trade runs? This is something I could easily do but the question is: Is it something I should do? No...not fair to the players who can't.
