SWAT Portal 2.1

    Soon this site will get a major update. allowing us to introduce many new features and a better site navigation.


    We for sure will loose some features by updating the Portal from what i can say with my experience at TLR (which already runs on that new software) I can say that it is worth it.
    A few fundamental things will have to change here.


    The user areas will seriously get improved with better social features and better user gallery support.
    Our current gallery for the games is unfortunately one of the few parts which is not compatible with the new software. But we have no intention to get rid of it. It might take some time but we will keep it running somehow.


    The design of the Portal will change to a very clean and fresh style.
    First only one dark style will be available but a bright one also is in production.
    Whats with the current styles?
    well... dunno atm
    there was the idea to allow premium users to use more than just the 2 standard styles... so you probably see some of the nice styles we currently have later


    Premium user?
    It is intended to created a new user hierarchy.
    guest -> user -> premium user -> moderator -> ??? -> administrator
    (dont think too much about the ???, ill explain that later)


    users can become premium users under special conditions -> here we are again at the question "what do you do for this community?"
    premium users will have special rights that other users dont have.
    it is also possible that the premium status can get lost.



    While we intent to keep the main forum structure some major house cleaning will be done.
    The amount of outdated threads and threads which were posted in the wrong boards is overwhelming here.


    There are tons of planned changes and new features that i will explain when they are done.
    The forum itself will stay available during the updates. There will be no downtimes.

    I like the whole idea of a premium user thing! It is kinda like vet status on my airsoft forum. If you are a vet than you are e respected member of the community that people should take advice from, and you also get access to a private vet only board.

    This needs more clarification.


    I understand you want people to help and thats fine, but if I or you go to a forum, dont you expect to be able to view ALL the information there regardless of wether you help or not? if someone is restricted of information until they offer help, then it may put people off comming here who just want to access information.


    If thats not the case, then whats the benifit of premium user...?Will it just be for the base community?

    I understand that "what do you do for this community" this way:
    You do support the community by helping others, sharing information, giving advices/hints/tips, staying on topic when posting, don't flame/spam, don't "attack" others only because they have a different oppinion or dont share point of view, sharing experience, proper behaviour and so on.
    Support can be in many ways, does not always have to do something with material, skills, or whatnot.


    If people start insulting others, because they dont get told what they want to hear or others have a different perspective of it - this is not supporting or doing anything for the community


    A lot of people so far, see it just as "I want and look for it, I demand others to tell me. But I dont give anything myself" "If I dont get what I want, everything is shit" "if they dont help me they are not worth anything" ....


    Of course, support does also include other things like developing, money, personal work, moderating, RP-stories and so on, but this is not meant to be exclusivly.


    But thats just my point of view (surely not pleasent for a lot of people here)

    He just tells premium users will have "bonus" powers, not that "users" will have less powers or can read less than what you can read now (as OP is the only one who can see "all" parts).

    Will there be (or is and I missed it) a "new since last sisit" button? and will we be able to chage some colors...while what I see is ok (sorry) ...the bright red on black/grey background is a bit too much contrast for my eyes (read => Marauder is old)

    I reported your bug, and also fixed it myself, the solution is posted there as well.
