  • Clan wars are always the most entertaining part of a space flying battle simulation, but real wars, not like GO? UHM... WAIT, CIGGY... OK GO NOW^^, but the real deal, a lot more strict ships and equipment restrictions for players (meaning restricting shields, ships etc. ONLY to friendly clans, if anyone wants to get any of those by force entry and purchase that player is risking an open war between his clans, or is provoking retaliation from entire clan whose territory the player invaded, simply by plundering the NPC there, or worse, by equipment/ship purchase)


    This is why I find clan system placement crucial for real server activity


    f.e. pirate clan has access to a better shield, whilst a police clan has got a slightly faster/better ship/weapon on their hands, those can only be officially exchanged via daily/weekly clan meethings organised by event managers


    Event managers dont only have to organise pvp events, it can also be diplomatic space meetings, technology trading etc.

    It could work though, but I need a name for it , as Clan Wars is already taken..


    And Diablo , a real war can kick you out of the server(if your clan loses).

  • I have had some experience with this on the SW:WT server. They have a "conquering model" but it is kind of complicated (waves of attackers, alot of pre-determined planning,. no room for tactical approach)...Moreover, the conquering of a planet/zone could happen in one day, this meaning of course that not everyone could attend the battles.


    There are a couple of problems that we should keep in mind when figuring out a "conquering model", among which are:


    1. People have to be able to attend it.
    2. It has to be properly advertised so that everybody knows what's coming.
    3. There have to be Rules of Engagement (our ASF/CSF would be perfect, with a few minor changes)
    4. It has to be transparent, so that nobody takes advantage or contests it without an actual motive
    5. It has to be "lucrative", people have to gain something by seizing a system and lose that advantage by losing the system


    ...and some more that I cannot think about right now.


    We could set up a "brainstorm" team and kick off a project like this, Crossfire Conquering Model. I am sure that in about 1 week we could come up with something easy to use, fun generating, tactical and RP-inducing conquering model.


    I would suggest that we do not tackle systems right now...maybe it would be better if we could conquer basses instead (planets, stations,everything dockable)


    Benefits ->
    1. being able to enforce a monopoly on whatever bmg that base sells, in that system and those in the immediate vicinity (jg/jh away)
    2. being able to control the areas around the base (20 or so km) -> if the base is near a tl, then the owner of the base should allow free passage to everyone but the people/clans hostile to it, no need for permission though because some areas would be heavily transited


    Publicity->
    3. Any conquering process should be properly advertised at SWAT 1 full week before it takes place (so that people could make time or know when it will be) and if nobody opposes it (with a post in that topic) until the attack begins, then the system is conquered.
    4. The conquering process could take place under the ASF/CSF ROE, with the noted exception that everything transformes from "one system" to "one base" AND that if the attacking clan does not "own" any base within that system the attack would have to "spawn" from one system away, if not from the base that they "own" (beach-head)
    5. After a week has passed since the SWAT post relatingto the conquering of a base, the attackers should warn any one member of the opposing side via in game chat, takeing a screenie with a time stamp. If nobody comes to defend the base within 10 minutes, the attacking party can proceed with the attack and points are scored according to ASF/CSF ROE.


    Battle->
    6. Following the ASF/CSF ROE for one full week from the moment the attack begins.

    7. The "rented" clan system cannot be conquered but if it contains more than one base then that base may be conquered, PROVIDING the fact that the attacking clan owns all of the basses within an immediatly neighbouring system. (the aim here is put a strategycal dimmension to CF, because a clan in this situation would immediately either expand in the other direction or chose a diplomatic path to a truce)



    Also, please note that according to this model, clans will not be able to spread as they will...they will still have to defend those territories. This means that if one clan extends its territory too much so that it exceeds its resources that clan may not be able to defend it. Also, it would stimulate a strategycal RP in diplomacy and forming Alliances and Treaties (i.e The Universal Police Treaty, etc.)



    These are a few ideas that I could throw but we can develop the concept and make it our own Crossifre Conquering Model.

  • Addendum -> we could use the Autoreferee to score kills within the disputed system (but a victory should only win the base claimed) by using ASF/CSF like Attacker/Defender. We could use it like this now but in the future maybe it could be changed to Attacker/Defender. ASF/CSF roleplay would take place every day anyway...:)

    An event that a few clans take part in a battle between themselves. 1 clan vs 1 , 2 vs 2 , 3 vs 3 etc. It depends from the participants ofc. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Intrussion Defence Event:
    An event that allows a clan to protect its clan system against other players(the participants) in a matter of time. ( 45min, 60min .. or more.) The team who has most kills( attackers / defenders ) wins. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Convoy Escort Protection Event:
    An event that players protect trains from another participants. The trains should be those who can carry the BS turrets and has 700 cargo or so. They need to protect the trains until they reach their final destination(a system) ... if the trains get killed, the team loses. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Colloseum Race Event:
    An event that the participants races in the Colloseum System, in that circle things. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Collector Event:
    An event that the players have to get a stock of 250, 500 or more from a player. The 2 teams have 1 member who collects them in his cargo hold. The players needs to get to the player who has the stocks in the cargo and get 25, 50 or more items in each turn, then they have to bring them to their member who collects them. The team who collects more in a specific time, wins. That's also includes fights during the collection. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Race Battle Event:
    An event that the players needs to get a stock from a planet and bring it to another system(which is the Event Manager located). The player who gets firs to the EM , wins. The event should have 3 places. 1st Place / 2nd Place / 3rd place. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Capital Vessels TDM Event:
    A TDM event which only Capital ships are allowed to participate. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Capital Vessels and Fighters TDM Event:
    A TDM event that only capital and fighters ships are allowed to participate. A fight between both kind of ships. => Event Manager Needed <=


    - Convoy Escort[NPC] Event:
    An event that is similar with the Convoy Escort Protection, but this time with npcs, such as nomads. Two teams who has a few trains with them and they need to escort them to a location given by the Event Manager. The convoys needs to get passed through the nomads and safely get to the EM. The 1st team who does that, wins. If some of the teams dies, he loses. => Event Manager Needed <=



    These events + the ASF/CSF and the original ones ( TDM , Smuggler , Nomad Gun Hunt etc. ) can take place every month and each day. A full month of events, everyday events so the people can have a really great fun in CF.
    Until each evening, the players have a lot of time to trade and make money, do other RPs (police, pirate , mercenary) before the evening , or exploring CF etc... If that becomes ruteen , the fun within the Crossfire Server will never disappear. I now just need Event Managers to run all of these events. These events would start the next month(October). And until 2011 , we should really discuss how the Tournaments would really look like.

  • The clan Wars event would need an EM outside of any clan.... unless the EM CAN participate in his own event :D


    The Coloseum rings race (not things) is randomly made by some people...I ahve a racer char dedicated to stay always at the Ring no 1. Anyways I can easely manage that one.


    All other ideas look cool tho :D Even some aren't really new.

    I (and not sure if others who pay real $ on a system will) will never agree on loosing what's inside a 'rented' system, it's rented with all it has inside, and as all clans have only 1 (or 2) links mainly only to X3043 system (which can't be conquered ? or it does ? ) a clan can easely own a neighbouring system to the ones in X.... Also PX would have advantage on this as they only have 1 station, and are the ONLY in having only 1 station, (maybe) that's why it was even made ^^ Why not 3 bases min.... or more.... but anyways a rented system has to be untouchable, else the clan leader can easely stop paying for something he anyways don't own.


    Edit: Imagine the inactive clans like IOC or BG or LP, or with too few members active like IOC , DC or CFPD(even we have 2 'top guns' active) or the active clans with many new (unskilled) players for example UR... they do have their leader quite skilled, but except him... and ofc any clan could 'abuse' on their systems as they want. This is a "No Go"

  • The Clan Wars Event can be innitiated when or if the inactive clan members returns. And it also can be innitiated when or if new players joins the clans.

  • What you mean, that it won't start until even SZ come back active ? :P


    Or it will start only for the active clans, not counting if the members are newly recruited who don't even have a fighter char ?


    The rented system's can't be touched at all, system rules and payment aren't for nothing.

  • Clan Systems(aka rented ones) should be out of the event. The systems who could be used must be free of rents... with another words = Free Systems.


    And this event CAN also be innitiated when a lot of people in different clans are active. This even can be like " A random one " , as we don't have so many active clan members.

  • Yes, all the problem here was about the rented systems possible to be mostly owned by other clans, which isn't admittable.
    If DC can't loose their Tekagi base, or SA their GMG gate, and neither any single item in teh systems the leaders are paying for, then noone rlly has problems with it. If a clan isn't active, they can simply keep their own system as until now... instead of being 'abused' by some more active clan ^^

    There's a big difference in Clan Wars and Intrussion Defence Event.


    => Clan Wars => NONE Clan systems shall be used. => Not any kind of a damage done to the clan.
    => Intrussion Defence => Clan Systems shall be used and you have to protect your clan system. During the event , the system needs to be protected, if you lose or win , doesn't really matter. After the event, you can use your clan system like nothing happened at all. => Not any kind of a damage done to the clan.
