prisons

  • I have been playing Freelancer as long as it has existed. I always play single player every few years. I just started using mods and decided to start with Crossfire 2.0 single player. I am still on the original story line but have been searching for the prisons outside of Liberty Texas. They simply are not there and I don't understand why. Does it have something to do with the original story line?

Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • They are just way outside popular routes. E.g. Vierlande Prison orbits Planet Hannover in Hamburg, about 40-50K to the nearest Trade Lane.

"Across the savage skies and through the fissures in the fields,
The rumble of the engines and the trundle of the wheels,
Through hell and horror trudge and yet their spirits never yield.
Will they sing of these forsaken pawns of war?"
-Miracle Of Sound, "Pawns of War".

  • What do you mean that it's not there? If it's vanilla, it must be there. Try the one in Manchester then, here is where you can look it up on the map:

Sectors & Systems - SWAT Portal

Edit: There's also one in Shikoku that you can go to and sell your pods, another in Alaska that you can go from:

If you're doing the same thing that I did to skip the leveling up by selling the pods, you can just sell them at the same prison as much as you like, be sure to sell only the amount of credits it requires you to go to the next level so Juni can call you up, there's really no point of selling them all so you can go and collect more afterwards. When you move from Liberty to Bretonia (during the storyline), you can easily go to Manchester and sell them, then when you move from Bretonia to Kusari you can go and sell them in Shikoku and that's pretty much all when it comes to 'moving through the storyline'.

There's also a third option though -> if you want to skip the FL Campaign all at once and start the CF Campaign, I can upload you a save of mine if you want, with 2 billion credits and a fully equipped VHF (I did that on purpose because I'd rather be fully equipped when I end the FL Campaign because if you skip the waypoints during the CF Campaign, you can easily get it to crash due to the fact that it's an unofficial extension, so I came prepared prior to the CF Campaign).

    - I was in a hurry earlier and wasn't able to write so much.

  • I have read about several prisons locations including for example BPA and it is not there. In fact the surrounding mine field is not there.

Which System are you in? If its Manchester then its BPA Newgate

Here as shown on the System Map in WIKI:

Here it is as seen in the game map:

Here is what it looks like, with mines clearly in view:

  • My apologies it seems I did not do an adequate job searching the area. I relied on actual locations I found on line which turned out to be incorrect.

Thank you for your help and consideration.

I would like to receive the save game mentioned. It might be fun to try. Thank you for the offer.

  • Here are the save games:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1vipo7bop1dfwpijrv3lq6d-qezk20hdn

There are two types of Save Games:
    1) That is prior to end the FL Campaign, which means you're free to go wherever you want and change whatever you want BEFORE going to the meeting to start the mission, by which I am implying that if you don't like the VHF that I chose to fly with, you can change it to whichever you want, if you don't know what you may like to fly with, here is where you can take a look (the systems shall be opened for you to go and get the fighter you like):
    Ships - SWAT Portal

For example I didn't get my lovely Saracen (my favorite VHF) because the one I chose to fly with kinda looks like a real life fighter jet and I was kind of nostalgic as well so you'll see the weapons that I mounted were - Phoenix Project Cannon , these were the 'old-school' weapons that we used back in the days, but not to worry... you have the newest and most powerful weapons that you can mount at any time, both Alien (from the Inner Core) and the Coalition weapons + more additional missiles.

What I am trying to say is... do not change or buy any upgrades, you have the latest and best equipped, only those which the CF campaign will ask you to mount will be ok ofc, so you can change only the weapons if you don't like those that I mounted (I prefer the Coalition Gattlings hehe).

    2) This is the save where you start the CF campaign directly and if you want to change your VHF, you have to change it during your campaign, you can't go astray of the waypoints because you might bug it (means crash it) because as I've said earlier, the CF Campaign is an unofficial expansion so you have to stay on the 'path' and not go astray, which is why I made those saves prior to ending the FL Campaign in case you want to change anything. Also, in case you're stuck on some of the missions of the CF campaign, you can reload the 'auto-saves' in order to work -> again, because it's an unofficial expansion.

Another thing, in case you buy a new VHF be sure to unmount the Power Generator, Adv. Scanner & Sub.. substra... (damn I forgot the name of it lol, the thing that you get things in your cargo) FIRST and then buy the VHF, then when you buy it you can mount all of the weapons & upgrades that you have unmounted. I am saying this because these are the only 3 upgrades that it will not allow you to transfer to your new VHF and you have to unmount them first before purchasing your new VHF.

Anywho... in case you still have some questions, let us know here in the forum.

    Good luck and enjoy ;)

    PS:
If you want to experiment, I think you'll love this:

Summary: Press 1 & 2 (in sequence) as fast as you can and then fire.

  • I relied on actual locations I found on line which turned out to be incorrect.

I would be interested to viewing this incorrect on-line advice.

I've got a voluntary map making role here at CF2.0, producing the latest System Maps for inclusion at our WIKI Site. Hopefully that's not where you found the inaccuracies. ;)
