There are new people joining the discord on a daily basis. You would think those are all new players (hopefully also joining the server)

every year the same... usually the server population grows again in the winter months

in a few weeks the mod awards start again... we should use that opportunity

it's sad that FL is dying out, but is at the same time impressive that game persists for such a long... Special thanks to whole CF Dev team for incredible work.
I'm just in the middle of Crossfire missions and will probably join server online once i finish...

op is correct in that post. depends on the time zones and the weather. not forgetting players real life too. not forgetting there a lot of abnormal events going on too around the world. i have logged on at times and seen 10/12 players on and slowly go due to there timezones. also had times been on by myself and have 5 more players come on as i,m about to go for the night so just depends on whats going on really. i,m ingame on a daily basis nearly and see a lot of fluctuations in players. and on a yearly basis around now yes it do,s seem dead but can assure you it,s not. just look at its position every year in the top ten votes which are coming around again very soon. 
On a slightly unrelated note, I also find it impressive that people are still working on hacking the existing FL engine like this OpenGL render pipeline or even trying to reverse engineer it like with the LibreLancer project. I've tried out LibreLancer and it's really cool to see how far it's come.

Sad to see empty server. I remember better times, space full with RP players, clans, freelancers. Great chases with pirates and police officers, also bounty hunters. Enjoyable events and hard IC expeditions. Yes, we have new players i see them, but no RP here. Sometimes i see some police or pirate clan member. In present IOC is most active clan here. I supose all old players are too busy with RL, or just has done everyting and now plays other games. Even with some promote to come someone, when he join MP server he will see few guys or 0 population. Is not what new people expected. And then he will think nobody play this mod. This is a great mod with awesome systems, story, RP, events, cooperations and friendly comunity. Is really incredible the quality of stuffs devlopments give us from this old platform. I just want to say thank you all for great times here. BTW i still play sometimes with my IOC mates or solo (trades, missions or just explore).

hence my reply to your post. events, missions, hunts and many other things over the years have been put in to place by op and event managers etc. mentions of the mod in media etc also. one consistant observation with the mod is new players coming on and expecting players to give them things or tell them where everything is. the concept of the mod is to go out in to space and explore and earn $$ as they go testing and experiencing all that has been created in the mod. massive work has gone in to the mod and players miss a lot of it. i have watched on a daily basis new players coming and going. so people are aware of the game even today. they are always working on new stuff for the mod. but it has to be realized as is by many older players that the timezones play a part in things. the mod is always open to suggestions.
