  • While I am absolutely not willing to start balancing the market conditions based on the possible trade routes or even create such routes from the scratch I will use this weekend analyzing the averaged market structure.

There were more than enough complaints saying that the trading is reason for lack of RP on the server. I see that different.
I do not intent raising the prices on the server... but I intend to lower the commodity volumes if needed so you can trade more of them.
I also see the chance to raise the profit for one BMG route per day.

These changes are temporarily. They will be reverted in one month if the server situation does not change.
It either proves you or me right.

These changes will cost me alot of time since if successful I will have to synchronize everything with CF2.0 aswell.
Working on 2 mods at the same time is tricky and costs time.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

OP there is a nice weather coming outside and summer is so close, not to mention that number of players dropped in last few months. One month is not enough to show to us desired results. 2 months will be ok.

    imo

  • it has to be enough

  • I'm up for this although I hope podding doesn't get restricted although it is the quickest route for making money.
I do have a thought that diamonds should be worth the most again like they were in some vanilla freelancer server so that pods are just 10% less valuable price wise and you have to go long distance.
Say Leeds to Manhatten, NY trading diamonds to make a substantial profit and so pods use less cargo space to even it out a bit for people who just want to pod.

  • Thinking in general it would be better if no one has to prove anything. Either we do something to improve a situation or we don't.
Everything else makes no sense ;)

Or aren't we a community as this?

maybe it,s just me but i agree with this statement too, but traders in space are exploring the different systems as they trade. to me there is so much work on the two mods as you say op, and each pilots plays freelancer for there own different reasons so to me one way or the other. personally i would like to see missions raised a bit too but never the less a lot appreciate your work op
    kermit

  • mission payout already raised from 1.8 to 1.9

if you guys want something to do then do RP

the market is going to be updated now

  • I think it's not about to acquire credits easily and quickly...rather it is how much of pleasure or not to play this mod. From my point of view or to take part in battles or explore / smuggling / taxing...etc, it's about taking part in the game of pure pleasure .. like i do. If some or others have different opinions about what and how, is very good ... but not so easy to get everything even if it is timeconsuming (and here I agree with OP's addiction balance). If someone has skills to offer for money as Maxbur, is a good way to earn easy money. In other words, I mean if you want to play CF, u do this unconditionally by someone else or something, otherwise play starcraft or something else.Normally that I have low trading complaints that take a long time, but you can still buy a computer and do trading / smuggling in the same time.CF 20 will bring for sure more satisfaction to many players, but there I'm sure someone will be unhappy that the planets revolve too quickly or trade lane`s speed is too low(I would like to see the arena a base with BMG for sale :woot: ).So from the start there is an equilibrium point of the game ... satisfied and dissatisfied ppl.I'm sure some old players here have complaints but they might help the game fresh by their experience and their time spent here. However, what is discussed on the forum has a purpose and an end in one way or another and that means that things dont remain unresolved.I hope my opinions to be read in a constructive way but I do not mind if someone disagrees with me :roflmao: .

  • I will be brutal on the criticism with regards to the easy earning on this mod seeing as within 12 hours or less I had earned enough credits to buy a phoenix class 10 ship and fully kit it out with all the upgrades, shield, max power, max shield, max thruster etc and enough fire power to launch a space shuttle on top of that full ammo with ease.
So yes personally I feel this ease of achievement has gone to the dogs so to speak, its just too damn easy and that my friends is why they're less people playing the Freelancer crossfire mod but on the other hand for people who want to earn quickly.
I am not just going to keep my podding a secret and the best place to do it, if someone asks I tell them.
Or I tell them if I am wanting to give them a quick achievement route if they're looking for one.
So really the entire buying, exchanging systems needs to be overhauled badly, I have three individual freelancer installations using registry tricks.
Freelancer Vanilla(original), Freelancer Crossfire 1.9 and Freelancer Discovery 4.86 and they all work flawlessly just so, I don't get bored easily and discovery seems to have a lot more players then crossfire it has to be said because they have stayed true as much as possible to Freelancer Vanilla(original) whilst still adding new ships and new parts but you still have to work hard to earn them.
So take a leaf out of there book if you really want to save this mod and all this anal ocd bug fixing is all fine and good but you are loosing time improving crossfire.
I really don't want to come across as an ass here but, I am a Freelancer veteran who has been playing since its release and taking short breaks with Freelancer Vanilla online yeah like a month or two if that or sometimes just a month.
You want to know why? (sarcasm) because the original Freelancer vanilla makes you work for it period!
I used to love trading diamonds and making a few million credits at a time going from new Tokyo main planet and selling the diamonds at Manhattan, NY but you have f******* killed the entire trading system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel all crossfire is now is a glorified Freelancer mod which boasts new awesome features yes of course by far and with enough eye candy to make my eyes bleed >< but it has a bad bases for trading and achieving a rank or the parts you want.
Now I just feel cheap playing it and only pvp and some rp keeps this mod alive in my opinion so do yourself a favor and fix these problems unless you want to loose more players.
I used to play on Freelancer vanilla way back in the day even after Microsoft closed down the servers with shed loads of players not just 15 or 20 players for god sake.
With many clans, I even was apart of quite a lot of trading clans or I escorted them on very long trade runs as a fighter pilot.
This was f******** awesome! this is what is fun for not just me but many other veterans that enjoyed this trading aspect of the original Freelancer Vanilla game and you have killed it with crossfire. This upsets me to the point I sometimes feel the need to voice my opinions and comments like now as this was a long time coming and my god is the new voice overs for the new factions crap, dude get a proper mich for god sake and remove the damn noise in the background they sound f******** horrible!!!!!
Or just stick to the original audio files for the faction pilot voice overs, I swear I am growing tired of this.
You have good additions to the game in terms of parts and ships but as, I have mentioned earlier in this post the bases of this crossfire mod for Freelancer is just plain horrible and too damn easy!

Edited 2 times, last by BlackWing: update ().

  • @BlackWing: WHAT? 8o:S ... I was lost in 1/3 of your post. Actually you have on CF many ways how to spent your moneys and actually you can earn them imo on good speed (needed time). If you are OK with one fighter then nothing weird you think money are coming too fast. You heard for example something about cloaking device or BSs and theirs costs (and many other different ships)? And what about costs for pvp? What to organise something and sponzor it? Maybe you should learn little better about CF before posting criticism.

For market changes: I like it ... did once again mining with good feelings) and trade also offer much more possibilities. Profit and possibilities are better but still not too much high.

  • 2 days... it took 2 days before people started to complain again

last week i was told that the players are leaving because of the old market system... now i am being told that they are leaving because of the new market system
... guess what... why dont we just shut down the server? People are leaveing no matter if the trading is hard or easy

  • SWAT_OP-R8R: always will someone complain (and if I understand this last was more about pods hunting prices?). Actual changes imo open wide possibilities for trade and mining and ppl are starting use it. Is also worth launch mining on comodities as water if ppl cooperate. Pirates and police have again what to do. Now is again worth use also smaller traders for legal runs and do not hesitate use bounties.

... simple: give it time pls.

  • time is a luxury i dont have and considering that this server needs to be paid by clans (which are barely active) the server also has no such luxury

OP if so, then we need to reconsider why? Something else is wrong, i mean something else has to be changed or added?

    Guys?

  • ... Summer time and end of school semesters - exams ... really dunno how we can change this ;)

and what can we do? ... simply take care about organising some fun for others. I actually have some ideas and will work on them in my next play evenings.

p.s.: doing nothing is wrong ...

  • i actually dont know what could be the reason, seeing as i only played mp once. But is it possible that players simply get bored by what basically is a nearly 10 year old game?

What i mean by that is not that it´d be your fault or that you could actually do something about it, more along the lines of normal "player shrinkage" (for lack of a better name).
I was in the position to witness a quite similar effect on another game that was quite popular at the time (Counterstrike). The technology got old, so when something similar came up with more recent tech (cs:s) a massive number of players dissapeared never to come back. And at the time the original mod wasn´t even that old. After the first wave was over the number of players steadily shrunk, to the bismal remains, still playing 1.6 today. (It went from Millions of players in its high time to a couple of thousand today, and that´s a game with a much higher volume as freelancer)

Btw something along the lines of finding new mp-players: On my attempt i found it extremely difficult to get started, as the only way to get even a little bit of money was a mission and those npc´s were so darn jumpy i needed 45 Minutes to kill even one. In that speed it would take months before i could even think about trying serious RP or even a PvP for a change. That´s what sort of ruined MP for me. It just shouldn´t take that long to shoot down one scrawny little level 1 liberty rogue npc. I don´t say i´d want to get there in an instant, but seeing light at the end of the tunnel would be nice. Sorry, btt.
