Fine/tax limits reminder

  • Because this is tiring to keep repeating same things over and over, it seemed to me
appropriate to remind here a few server rules regarding taxing/fining (and so you cannot say
    you did not know)

    Limits on fining/taxing:

Players below lvl40 cannot be fined/taxed (nor bountied for the matter)

    From lvl40 to 49: Up to $500.000

    From lvl50 to 59: Up to $1.000.000

From lvl60 and above: Up to $10.000.000

    (server rules section2C: Role-playing Rules)

Hence, I do not want to see again people taxing a whole system without even checking if they may or not.
    (friendly warning)

    Sincerely,

    [GR]Faaby

  • not to be offensive....but 2 things
    1) I notice many richy riches...now only putting small amounts of cash on their fighter chars .....I guess this means that I would only be able to tax 500k - 1mil.......while they move all cash to chars they keep in home systems? This seems ludicrous

    2) rules are to be broken

For me it is avoidance of RP. Just kill him. :)

    i agree

The Rules was not made to protect the 10th char of a Player but the first char of a Newcomer.

  • Hmm ... I little not understand here. IMHO are not server rules "a Well of wishes". I understand very well ppls notes here but server rules are in this simple and clear and there is not add-on. Unless this change, and someone will tax/fine more, he clearly broke current rules. I'm not GR (fortunately) .... You all want that GR need first check player's account before GR could decide if is complaint right or not?? And what with freelancers with multiple accounts? or clan members with separate ID "Store" account? You want that someone "less wise" or "less clever" must pay and "clever one" no? IMHO it will only bring chaos. Sometimes is better go with simple rule, regardless that it is not perfect.

  • Those rules are clear and simple (excuse me if I disagree but server rules are not "made to be broken"!!!)

This is not a debate I want to start about such or such rules,
my intend is just to inform possible persons not aware of those rules, as I often see them broken.

    @Forlon: Exactly! :thumbup:

  • the rules apply for the character you are in.

which means in example on my own person: some of my chars are on a higher level, wich means I'm obviously rich. thats nice. BUT when I'm flying around in a lvl 49 character (for what reason ever) I can just get taxed for the limit concerning the level of THIS PARTICULAR character, which is going to be taxed. NO matter if I have other chars with more money, and NO matter, that I could easily transfer the 'robbed' money back to this char which just got taxed.

this counts for ALL levels regardless whoms character it is.

there is not going to be warning after warning toward those players who actuallly know exactly what the rules are, and just trying to break them ever and ever again, hopefully to go away with this, without any punishment.

If any GR's are catching someone acting against those rules, there might be a punishment and no accepting of the excuse 'sorry, I didn't know' - 'sorry, but player xy did the same thing, and there was no GR online to punish him/her' - 'why do I get fined for this action, when others are doing it as well and simply get away with it?' bla bla bla.

Repeating ourself can take the fun out of every game, very fast.

so we might simply stop repeating ourself over and over again. Since ALL players who are ONLINE have already AGREED to the terms and conditions to be able to play online.

since the agreement is required in order to be able to play on the server, ALL players should be aware of the rules, terms and conditions.

and should not expect getting always a warning first.

    thats my 2 cents.

  • Very true and exactly what i expect of GR or SP or whatever!

    Bring it on!

  • I am going to be observing this with great interest.

I would like the GR to know what the rules are to start with and the difference between Server, RP and Clan system rules. All 3 are very different. Most Server rules do not apply in Clan systems and unless a clan agrees to use the RP rules in their system, the RP rules do not apply in Clan systems either.

GR need to be willing to make the tough call even when its against their own clan member and friends, even if it means losing your popularity. I have witnessed on several occasions where a GR member was giving warning after warning to the same group of people with no action. I have witnessed and been the recipient of GR acting on half of the facts because they "trust" their source.

There isn't any place in the rules where it states that a Pirate can't jump into a system and say " TAX " as a general announcment to all people in the system. He is giving the chance for people to flee, or be prepared to pay accordingly to their rank OR lose their cargo.

As a Cop, I will enter a system and say: " Ok all smuggling is over, under penalty of fine or destruction". There is noting in the rules where it states I can't do that.

Partially correct. There isn't any sort of mandate to register to the SWAT forum and read the Server Rules prior to downloading, installing and playing CF. If there was, it would certainly help.

  • The scrolling rules in Manhattan are not accurate in accordance to the posted Server and RP rules in the Forums. Argue if you wish, but I was SP for a long time and I know the consequences of enforcing rules as they are written and I also know how far players will go to literally lie to make the SP look incompetent or too aggressive.

However I will no longer comment and just be a player, while the GR learn the hard way.

You cannot claim you don't know the rules, like you cannot ignore the law.

    Only if you understood it...
Dont forget about the "language barrier" when someone don't knows english at all. So if I was not being studied english at school, I just could not know the rules of the server physically for now.

  • We're constantly translating rules in other languages : french, spanish, german, croatian, russian and more...

It's pretty hard not to know them (perhaps announce in-game where the translated versions are would be good).

Finally, the server is clearly identified as an english server, if you don't communicate on a minimal level in that language, perhaps it's better for yourself to avoid it until your perfect your knowledge... OP already try to offer a great playground for all of us, he cannot learn 15 languages to translate the rules and address everyone in their native language... :(

Yes. But i'm the russian and thinking in russian right now. This is the reason for my short or sometimes offtopic messages (perhaps, but i hope that is not happend with me) and too long time for my reaction with TAX for example.
And I saw you had not the rules in Russian because I was translated it only to read in in my native language (It's may be funny but not for me...) after my return.

    it will.
But I advise to put all the versions in to the game-loader too.

This was a second reason for my LAN Crossfire Server request in 2007. I did't play the game becouse I could not.

I understand it. But i just talked about some patience with this in my first message here. Not more.

  • reasonable enough  oh and it's you who made the russian version :whistling: i'm glad you did ^^ i like the idea of multi-languages rules in the loader... (in fact i wanted to review the whole rules to correct gaps and make some points clearer... OP said when 1.9 gets released...)

  • Quote

In contrast to the reverse translation, translating from english to russian is more easy for me, but sometimes through very hard work. So, any perfection of language is only can be done with practice. This what I'm doing now.

I've seen many people who never read the rules, becouse they can't find it. This will be the easiest solution to this problem. But if players will be able to select their language by option like in mode-activation - they will not need to look for "familiar letters" in the loader (afaik, usually the rules are in the main loader page).
