Much luck, sounds more like a mechanical defect than just a windows defect.
Mechanical defects can be quite a pain in the ass if you cannot figure out which of the devices stopped to work especially if you have nothing to crosscheck...

Yikes! I had this happen to me up here at work not too long ago! The power going *POOF* all of a sudden on my computer and the smell of ozone freaked me out pretty good for a few seconds!

I immediately knew it was the power source when I couldn't power the PC back up at that point... I took it to the IT guy here and it took about a couple of hours for him to round up a power source to get me back up and running!

Freak thing man... Glad it was nothing serious and you're back up and running OP.

Heehee. Last time I had a power supply issue, it was because a colony of spiders and other crap had built up in it! Boy, it was beautiful! Sparks and smoke flew everywhere when I plugged it in! I even received a "small" jolt myself! Moral of the story, don't take electricity lightly.

good to hear your PC is good OP. Years ago my first PC's power died, and caused a small emp and killed everything, i was quite upsetting at the time and from what i am told even modern power units can in theory do the same but it is very unlikley.
