crossfire updates not downloading

Probably the update server was not available or restarted what includes to be not available
Try again... If you continuesly have this error than you should post here again.

Or is possible that AV blocked internet connection for freelancer. .I was now 2 hrs on-line and server was OK. Try look at FAQ (here)

Maybe also the Firewall Settings...

I think it was the first one, that the update server was down maintainly.
AV Blocked? No, then he couldn't play from the beginning.
Firewall? Same as AV.

Are you sure on your connection ?
For some modem or software reason, you could have (as happened before) a (big) loss of data, which would make the launcher deny you to start teh game for hacking protection...
you can try your connection and every detail at pingtest.net and see your quality lvl

Was teh [E12] the only error number you saw ? Cus sometimes there's antoehr error E5, which is cus the freelancer.exe didn't closed the last time you played it, and you can't start a new game until you close the old one with task manager(Ctrl+Alt+Del).

I have this same problem, I have Microsoft Security Essentials & Zonealarm Firewall. I allowed all in Zonealarm haven't been able to figure out the procedure for AV? Does one have to disable AV while installing CF? I've been playing SP for several years & wanted to start MP before 1.9 release any suggestions? Thanks is there a patch?

I am not sure if this is due to Antivirus, but in case,
in Avast make sure to have Freelancer and FLMM folders excluded from scan
(also those folders properties must not be set on "read-only")

Protection -> Files -> Advanced settings -> Exclusions - then set the paths to those folders.
(not sure about proper title names translation, but should be more or less this ^^)

isn't crossfire server only for 1.82 version?
