Will there be ever a solution for the bann of ships having a cloak device installed?
Is it only a problem of old (1.9) cloak devices or of new (2.0) too?
If there will be no solution in some time, why don't you make a call back of
cloak devices and buy them back.
I'm thinking of 300mil for fightercloak, 350 traincloak and 400 bscloak.
And if the new cloaks causes the same problem, it would make sense to stop the selling of the
cloaking device parts until the problem is solved.

we dont know why this is happening and we have no insight into the code which causes this problem

That was what i was thinking of. So the cloak will not work in managable time. And i want to use those ships. Maybe some others too, but i don't know. So my suggestion: Make it like the big automible manufacturer, if a car has a big problem. They call it back.
In this case making an offer for everyone who deletes his cloak (simply buying a new ship) to get a compensation. (Cloak has cost a lot of credits and some time to get the components).
Maybe you find the reason of the problem in some time, then everyone could buy a cloak again. But meanwhile there will be less bans cause of cloaks. -
that wont happen
I am not compensating anything for the fact that I wouldnt have any time to do anything else then (including working on the mod) and for the fact that its nearly impossible to clearly tell if a char had a cloak before it was removed. -
we need people to help us testing the cloaking devices
today multiple patches have been released, so make sure to restart FL first
we need you to test if your ships with cloaking devices are correctly decloaking after launching to space and we need you to test the cloak commands
-
Did some quick testing:
- after each undock there is a message " Cloaking device off " and is started cool-down period 600s. This period is restarted with each undock.
-
yes, thats still something i need to improve. Important is if you ship is uncloaked and if after those 10 minutes the cloak command is working.
-
Cool down period after undock passed away (600 sec), cloak command (/cloak) was used:
Cloaking device is currently running up.
short time passed (few seconds)
Cloaking device on
From ammo left 10 crystals like should (ship is fighter).
Ship vanished from sight, weapons disabled
Passed approx 60 sec
Cloaking device off
ship uncloaked, weapons activated -
good

i made the same like Forlon, same result with the exception that i was cloaked for more than 2 minutes in a BS.
Edit byit was more than 3 minutes, sorry -
/c and /uc commands are functioning as well.

From my experience before, cloaking or uncloaking does not get me ban ... but, i got banned if that ship (with the cloak) got killed by some other players ... such as pvp ...
perhaps, others can test it ... undock ... then cloak your ship ... then uncloak ... then pvp ... make sure you're dead ... then, respawn ... then log off ... then log in ... and see what happen ... -
I used to get banned suddenly when hunting alien cruisers (all kinds) with (IOC)Osiris. (cloak installed during CF1.9) I would get banned halfway a fight, because my guns would suddenly no longer damage them. Getting cloak banned never involved pvp or dying for me. However, on every occasion it was after the cooldown timer had ended (10 minutes in system, then ban)

please report if happen NOW some issues. Old issues leading to ban once was used char with cloak were reported many times.
There should be no difference when was cloak assembled (1.9 or 2.0) -
Hi. OP.!
Could there possibly be set up a location where someone could have their Cloaking device disassembled and the parts sold at a reasonable price so the base could resell at a profit ?
That way if someone for any reason wants to get rid of their CD they would not need to delete their Cha if they really thought it was causing them a problem, they could sell and someone else if they had the resources could get a CD to try,if they were prepared to pay. The resale price could be maybe set at twice to three times what it costs in Domkavash territory.
The location for this might be Manhattan itself where they are assembled or else maybe Planet Denver in Colorado, for only the resale of the parts and you would have to go to Manhattan to assemble.
