Crossfire + Windows 10 build 1809

    changed the installationfolder, but without any succes...

    changed it to where?

    I cant get rid of the feeling that there is a general problem with user permissions on your PC related to the installation folder.

    That this bat file does not even work is something that is nearly impossible.

    files.bat, nope something pops for a second up and than nothing..

    new installation folder is now on my gaming harddrive.


    everything is running fine, normaly i found a solution through the years, when i had the need for FL....

    but now...

    Hi, I´m back after a long break from CF and come to this same error :-P


    I tried everything mentioned above, even replacing the KernelBase.dll in System32 with the one from the 1803 Win10. No Luck :-(


    Don´t know what to do. I want to PLAY AGAIN!!!

    Any other Solution than going back to 1803 Win10???

    tl;dr version: Try to switch to Vanilla FL shader in launcher options.

    If the error persists, delete ".\Freelancer\EXE\launcher.ini".


    Or even that doesn't work?

    What should the Launcher update do, due the problem is in the KernelBase.dll Library?


    Heres what i tried:

    - Fresh install in another Folder than C:\Programs(x86)

    - Deleted Launcher.ini and select Vanilla FL Shader

    - Replaced KernelBase.dll in System32 with the one from 1803 Win10 (even that didn´t work! WTF!)


    Big Girls don´t cry, but this is serious :-(

    I can not imagine the slightest reason why the workaround that I created should not work for you at all.

    Something else must be the reason in your case.


    Can you please send a copy of the launcher.ini to gen1mds@hotmail.com so I can check it for errors?

    I cant´t imagine an issue with the display driver, installed the newest version a week ago.

    The Win10 Installment is fabric new too.

    got it and the config looks correct

    in theory it should work


    did the unmodded game work for you?

    the vanilla FL shader option uses exactly the same configuration that the unmodded game has


    also worth checking is if directx is enabled/installed

    I installed the DX Grafic Tolls shown in the video, still no sucess.

    FL Vanilla: If i click on the Shortcut, nothing happens at all. Not even an Error Message.


    FUCK M$ !!!!


    Im thinking about setting up a second OS, in the case we wont manage to get it to work :-(

    Fear nothing, I found my copy of Freelancer ( unmodified & repacked version for Windows 7 ) which still works ( I always used this copy to play CF in the past )....no cracks needed :)

    Installed CF back again, OP's workaround worked for me, deleted the launcher.ini, now everything works, just logged in :)

    To all who use Windows 10 like me: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE DIRECTPLAY ENABLED !!!

    If OP allows me, then I can make a way to share my copy of the game for everyone who needs an easy to install & working version :)

    Edit: I forgot how to tag someone in my reply, how to do that guys, please help xD
