CFPD Standdown

What, i don't get to come to meetings? I've got MSN... On the other hand, my foot is still rather lodged in my mouth. Lol, if you want any imput though, you'd be surprised at how wise and serious I can be when I choose to.

I didn't mean it in a derogatory way. I've just never taken a lot of time to look at the CFPD's roles and achievements, just as members of other clans rarely take time to appreciate the roles that clans like the LP or DC play. The officers seem to keep really busy all the time, so I haven't a doubt in my mind that they're striving for all sorts of noble goals. Kudos to CFPD for working hard and tolerating me.

because, im now on holidays and im not playing at the moment, but im just curious:
i know that we had some problems because i had mercenary license and i done some piracy to other players, but then i bought pirate license
but, as far as i know im still on pending for DC clan and that is a mercenary clan, right?
so when i enter that clan ill only be mercenary
uh, this RP is really confusing to me: there are about 5 totaly different licenses and when i buy one DO I HAVE TO DO WHAT I HAVE LICENSE FOR???
can someone explain it to me, because how the things are going now, when i get back i wont even be able to undock the planet because everyone will be there waiting to shoot on me

and 1 more thing: some day a LP clan member wanted to shoot me because i didnt want to pay 5M tax to him (and i only had 2k $, lol) and he went after me and then i killed him (lol, some pirate). so, DO I HAVE TO PAY TAX to him OR CAN I JUST KILL HIM??

1. if your a pirate then you should act this way and wear a licence (pirate or at least csf)

2. a 2nd slot for licences (just for asf and csf) is not possible

3. too many rules are crap coz ppl wont follow them and its hard to tell them to read them all

4. no you dont have to pay them if you can fight

5. i dont really like the idea that ppl tax players and destroy their base of existence forcing them to pay more or all money they have

As I have said before in other posts, I do not see the need for clan members to have licenses. There is however a need for FLs who engage in RP to have them.

I am in PiA, so all those involved in ASF/CSF know where my allegiance lies. We advertise our clans RP function in the forums, as do all clans. If I see another clan member from whichever clan, I know what roles they play. What I cannot know is the role FLs have decided to play. It is for this purpose that licenses are useful.

I also agree that any FL who is engaged in RP, should have an appropriate license, and should stick to that role. Individuals who engage in random acts of piracy out of boredom, give RP a bad name, and they should stop.

its understandable that if you are active in the asf/csf war then you have that license... because an opposing faction should attack them anyways, so you dont have to worry about job licenses. and we all should know what role each clan has, be it pirate, military, police, or whatnot. the biggest thing is that this is an RP server, and if you dont want to RP then, well, to frigging bad b/c thats what the rest of us are here for!!! if you are committing acts of piracy, or smuggling illegal goods then you run the risk of having the police on your tail. as the biggest cliche in law enforcement history goes... IF YOU CANT DO THE TIME, DONT DO THE CRIME!

there are a couple of ships that have two license slots but as far as i know non of the older ships pre 1.61 have two slots and to put them in would meen Op remaping all them and that i carnt see happening.

you can have 5 chars so make 1 for the csf/asf and the other 4 for your other RP

Just a heads up here. I know a lot of you guys out there are not US residents so I will try to explain how we see the police(or at least how i see them)

"Real police"
1. Can stop you at any time on the roads.
2. Can inspect your vehicle for illegal goods.
3. Can take; your vehicle, license, anything in the vehicle, and impound it to be sold at a later date in a gov't auction.
4. Will make you pay fines and costs.
5. Do sometimes become corrupt.
6. May take an occasional bribe.
7. Are not perfect, they make an occasional mistake.
8. Are always identifiable as Police officers, where the criminals are NOT always identifiable.

"CFPD"
1. Can stop you at any given time in the system.
2. Can inspect your ship for illegal cargo.
3. Cannot take your ship, license, other valuables that might be stored in your holds (if they do get tractored in, talk to the officer to see when you can get your property returned).
4. Cannot MAKE you pay fines, but can blow you out of the sky
5. Do sometimes become corrupt.
6. May take an occasional bribe.
7. Are not perfect, we make an occasional mistake.
8. Are always identifiable as CFPD, where pirates/mercs/traders/etc. are not always identifiable even though we know who is who for the most part.

As far as RP goes, i think it is great. Just remember that the criminals are criminals for a reason. If you are a criminal and you get caught by the CFPD expect to lose the cargo, or be destroyed, (be glad we will not do all of it).

If there was a big sign over every criminal then there would be a hell of a lot less real crime.

Only if they have cause. They cannot stop you unless they have a reason. I.e. broken tailight, irratic driving, etc.

See 1 above and only if a judge dictates.

Do not make you pay. They can fine you and if you do not pay, a judge can issue a warrent for your arrest.

Bad apples in every barrel no matter the job.

Pretty much so except for undercover.

NP there Chief, I spent 30 years with a Conservation officer for a father I dont claim to know everything but I do remember everything he drilled into my brain.

As for 1. they can stop you at any time. You and I both know there are dozens of different reasons they can use to pull you over. The same with a search (gee that cigarette but looks an awful lot like a joint). you may say it will not hold up in court and that may be true but there are always ways around things. As an ex-officer you know that as well as anyone.

I speak to number 3 only from a CO duties as i do not claim to know the police part of anything else. He has the power to take anything related to the offense. A judge MAY give it back or he may not. It is the officer that does the actual taking. I cannot count how many guns, boats, trucks, 4 wheelers, boats, jet skis, deer carcasses, decoys, tree stands, etc... that my father has taken from offenders, brought to the house then turn them in. Then come home and tell us how much they went for in a gov't auction a few months later.

on Number 4, i agree, the officer cannot make you pay the fines, the judge does that, but when you dont pay them guess who comes back out and hauls you back in... lol

8. Undercovers are the exception and I am not at liberty to say whether CFPD has undercover agents... [wink2]

CFPD is no longer taking fines to my understanding Wavey. Therefore it is drop your cargo and leave or we will drop your cargo for you.

wavey, the idea behind the fine or die isnt really what it sounds like. its when we catch someone with illegal cargo they have 3 options:

1. Pay a fine in respect to their level and how much they are carrying
- if the fine is paid then the smuggler is allow to go on about their illegal business
- if the fine is paid CFPD will no interfere with the smugglers business for 1 full hour

2. drop all the illegal cargo and leave the system
- Upon dropping the cargo CFPD may confinscate it or just blow it into space debri infront of the offender

3. if you refuse to pay the fine or drop the cargo, then you pick option C
- CFPD will fire upon you and completely obliterate you and your illegal cargo

that was the official CFPD mandate as of earlier this week. at this moment the penalty for carrying illegal cargo is nothing, as CFPD is on a stand down from law enforcement issues. IF CFPD resumes its law enforcement duties the options stand at:

1. Drop cargo and leave the area
2. Death

its not pirate like activity, what are we supposed to do? tell them that they are bad and let them go on? if we only had the two options ... fine or death... whats wrong with that? i mean, what if the didnt want to pay the fine? again, do we just tell them that they are bad and let them go?

Hi all, i dont think its any secret that i'm a pirate, i have the licence at all times on chars i use to tax people. As far as leaving the system when a cop kills me, i would not mind doing that at all but for maybe an hour or so, not a day.
I have to earn my living still

As for my names in game, im not hard to spot... Spirit{GRRr} and Serenity{GRRr}.

Now dont forget, pay me my taxes when you see me, that includes you coppers... GRRRrrr
