Mission difficulties?

  • Well now, I have been fortunate enough to get top of the line weapons, a Deathblade fighter (which is awesome, I love the handling and the cargo capacity), and am now working towards a train.

I have been doing missions in Oasis, which are very nice, rather easy, and the targets' escape pods are all Lieutenant, meaning 100k a plop. That said, I am always looking for ways to make the money come quicker, so... what is the system with the highest difficulty missions? Or perhaps a mix between mission difficulty and actual ease of performance (lets face it, corsairs take longer to kill than outcasts, for example.)

  • You can try visiting some of the systems linked to X-3043, such as Vega, Tarsus, Casius etc. There you can find missions against CSF fighters, each carrying a pod with a cost of 150K per piece. Also, the mission itself has a reward of between 820K and 940K. Each mission lets you kill at least 10 to 16 fighters, which in rough calculations mean:

    15 pods * 150,000 = 2,250,000

    2,250,000 + 850,000 mission reward (roughly) = 3,100,000;

3 million credits for just 20 minutes of work sounds good to me. :) That's what I'm currently doing.

Apart from that, Casius is IOC's home system. If you'd like to do missions there, then feel free to enter and do them, I'm granting you access. Pick missions from the planet right above the X-3043 jump gate.

PS: CSF ships hit hard as well, stay frosty out there ;)

Edit: CSF ships also drop MkII guns, each of which costs almost 50K when you sell them. Bonus money!

  • Well then, I think we have a winner! Here's to my skills being good enough to not die out there.

And I am very grateful for granting permission in your clan's system. I will be sure to conduct myself accordingly.

  • I'm sure you'll do, don't worry about it :) If someone from IOC asks what you're doing in Casius, please let him know that I've given you access to do missions.

  • Yep, I def use batts and nanos (need to remember they are a no-no for PvP...) Still tough for me. I actually did switch ships to one that is tough and manuevers well, the Scourge. Still, I have decided to move back to Oasis. Just so much easier, and really not that much worse of a payout. And actually generally closer objective locations... AND only a system away from a prison!

  • Sad to hear that, I wont have company in Cassy now :'(

You can also kill Xenox in Hudson - free pods and good reputation ;) (not well payed)

  • Haha, don't worry, I find myself drifting quite a bit. Still, having the CSF bearing down on you when you are just travelling gets painful... Just furthers my drive to get a big ol' battleship and blow them all up! >:D

EDIT: All of a sudden, I feel like I may have made a statement that will cause me a great deal of PvP strife...

  • The way you can grind money quickly is this:

    ~Gather 50 million credits
    ~Buy a Liberty Siege Cruiser
    ~Buy an Armor Mark 10
~Go to Omicron Minor and shoot those Rheinlanders
~When full, go to Alaska and unload your cargo
    Full Cargo:
    50-90million credits
Time that takes to get full cargo: 2-4 hours

Edit: If you need help with the cash, contact me ingame when you see me. Names are in the sig.

  • ~Go to Omicron Minor and shoot those Rheinlanders

Rheiland Police's not gonna like that, and will close a quarter of the Sirius sector for you.

  • Don't forget about ALG and other Rheinland companies, they can also meet you past-X-3043, and they sometimes use Fighter Ace Pilots as escort.
However, in Oasis you can ask for missions with reinforcements. Sometimes these reinforcements are 3-4 ships with fighter ace pilots. During the missions attack your own reinforcements, and you will get additional 450-600k.
BTW, don't use Hornet CD and Swatter mines. That's the ammo NPC drop, and it can be sold for a good price.

  • @Ajay's ghost: I am not sure if others can actually see what you say, in your current nameless status.

  • Wow, this got quite a bit of attention when I looked away.

I honestly don't really feel like getting in the bad graces with the Rheinlanders. Not the least of which because I like that house the most, and plan to use their designs most of the time.

If you kill reinforcements during a mission, how badly does it affect your rep? Sounds like a nice possible boost (and you are right, reinforced missions are quite common.) But again, I am pretty happy with my current rep.

And I don't really use the ancillary weapons at all, like missiles, mines, and CMs; for the most part, the AI seems to be very good at ignoring them. So yeah, it leaves plenty to sell after each mission.

@Duck_Dodgers Honestly if I had close to that much, I'd just get a soulforge train, which is really my current goal anyways. Its getting there that I am working on and trying to find the quickest way to. I appreciate the offer of help, and wouldn't necessarily be against some kind of assistance, but I kind of also want to accomplish this for myself.

EDIT: Err, that was not intended. How do you delete posts?

  • If you kill reinforcements during a mission, how badly does it affect your rep?

Actually it should not since you encounter more enemy fighters than reinforcements.

  • Incorrect, reputation goes down way faster than up. So if you kill 10 Outcasts, Corsairs will be happy with half a square. If you kill 3 Corsairs, all what you did before won't matter. (Outcasts and Corsairs are hostile to eachother) Which is realistic, trust is hard to earn in real life, but 1 incident and the dude can be your worst enemy xD

Just that mission reinforcements, as they are specially spawned/generated, if they get killed in middle of the mission and not after it was completed, apparently they get like "casualties" and your reputation won't be affected. At least this happens in vanilla missions, I can't assure it's the same for any CF missions.
