Let's hope that at least his game will worth the money. He's a professional, so he should be capable of it since he also has a team, no alone, but yeah... you never know. I doubt he can live with only these millions, so he may try make a super project before "retirement".

The first 8 points on that list I would have thought to be BASIC ... and not something "specially added".

1 million $ more and you get fuzzy dices on your ship's cockpit.

Though the additional million is for a cake 'n coffee dispenser.

i hate to say it, but, with all the stuff i have read about all this, the more i think this is all an elaborate con. i do hope not, but there you go.

if CF had such a budget and such a large team, we could easily make something 3x better than chris roberts ;P

Something 3x better wouldn't work for a multiplayer server like ours... cus of the PC limitations, that's also why the last versions of X series have no multiplayer support.

Chris's game shouldn't be able to have multiplayer, but I think it was mentioned a rooms based one, like... max 8 or 16 players on each room, dunno...

star citizen will have a instance based multiplayer... like in wow
or maybe a better example... like in star trek online (not a bad game if you ask me)
but it wont be a game world like in FL... thats not possible

I think one of the BIG assets of FreeLancer - and also CF - that it isn't so demanding on PC-power.
Makes it playable for almost everybody. Therefor : even it's old it has a big community still - AND - anew playing it.

And that's reason, why I won't get this Star Citizen and Squadron 42 stuff. I would have to buy a power-PC, I can't afford.

Maybe 3 -4 years AFTER it has been released (if ever) and it became "old" compared to the most likely following games.

And that's why MMOs are great If you are sociable, you have fun.

did anybody else notice that since the money-making started the Freelancer boards over there are mostly dead?
did anybody else notice that the fan spotlight all of a sudden stopped when the money making started?
did anybody else notice that the golden ticket is gone and (unlike promised) has lead to absolutely no benefit for those which registered?

does anybody remember me saying before the big announcement of the game that they already have a concept and that all discussions about possible styles are a waste of time?
launching the site one month earlier and offering golden tickets was a RP gag... a dishonest one actually
They said that they did not expect that so many people register and that the community is still that much alive. Do you really believe that?
They did launch the site to get attention so all the people wet their pants and were ready when the pledging started. That are cheap promotional tricks.

me at the very beginning.

Yeah, the well worked gold ticket and the story with great special effects video advertisements were very efficient in attracting space sims and sci fi fans.
