Multple FL IDs

    And yet another noob question by the reluctant, notoriously dedicated SP-player, who has been drawn so DEEEP into MP and servergaming,
    that I even haven't completed new story line :P
    but I will do so after that last fix, ... at some point, ... sometimes in furure, ..., when I know, how to forget about all of you great folks here, that DREW ME IN SO DEEP
    ^^ most likely impossible     ^^


    As we (me) know, you can create only 5 chars on your account. But some players sport MUCH more chars. I wondered how.


    By searching (use "search", I did), I got to the point, that it has something to do with runninmg several "account IDs",
    this 36 digit long number, you have to type after a reinstallation, to get to your "old" chars on the server
    (the one you SHOULD WRITE DOWN for exactly this reason and that people often like to forget, asking OP to - somehow, magically - resurrect them).


    I also found, that a tool "FL ID Changer" has something to do with it.
    But atm I'm too afraid to use and play around with it, fearing to spoil everything.


    So I ask for an explanation a BLOODREDDED NOOB like me can understand , follow and USE it.


    1. How do I create several account IDs ?
    preferably - if possible - without several de- and reinstall-procedures


    2. How do I switch between the chars of different account IDs WHILE on the server and ingame ?
    preferably - if possible - without crashing the server or getting kicked for cheating



    If there IS already such an explanation, tutorial, guide on this, I wasn't able to find,
    I would be happy to be directed there.

    First what you need to do BEFORE USE ANY ID TOOL!!! ... IS PRINT YOUR ACTUAL ID!!! (and do this for every ID you will use!). Using ID changer allow you erase actual ID and when you log to MP it will offer you new one randomly created ... continue and create new char on new ID. After sw to ID tool and save new ID and you can sw between them. If you want use installed sw, use second link (imo more user friendly, but be warned that this second tool do not work with IDs. I do not know theory well, but I use those two in combination (more as one year) and with 10+ IDs not slightest problem.


    p.s.: is better think if is not worth join clan before use more as 5 chars :);)

    The second link for the account manager I've seen already,
    but as it is an .exe I#m a bit afraid on using it without a "readme" or other "manual".


    Do you know, if there is one ?

    but the site got only a small feature list and a dl-link,
    unfortunatly no "readme".


    Perhaps there will be a "help" included. Will have to try it.

    Have just installed the Freelancer Account Manager 1.0F.
    After installation there IS a readme in the installation folder (C:\Programms\.....etc.)


    Now I have to get the balls to - also - TEST IT. :S

    I'll write up a short manual for the Account Manager later, as that's the the tool i use. coupled with FLKeyGen to generate new IDs without starting the game.
    promised to meet my parents for dinner first, tho.

    the first time you start FAM i should realize that it doesn't know the current ID and offer to import it. (see FAM0.png ) of course this happens everytime FAM sees an ID it doesn't know.


    next you're given the opportunity to assign a name to that ID. you can always rename it later you you don't want to bother about that yet. (see FAM1.png )


    you should then get a success message like FAM2.png .


    Finially you should see the main window (FAM3.gif).
    here you have the chance to export one or all your accounts into a file, import accounts from files and most importantly to switch between known accounts by double-clicking on the according line. you don't have to close the game entirely to switch accounts, being in Main Menu and Alt-Tabbing out to switch is enough.

    now this is the tool i've used to create new accounts. just keep on hitting the generate button until you find one that you like ;) and save it. (see keygen.png) there are two options to save, the middle button allows you to create a .adf file with the account information, that you can then import into FAM while the right one directly imports it into FAM as "New Freelancer Account" once you've provided the FAM directory.

    About FAM, I (at the beggining), and other ppl found it too complicate to make the program "detect your current FL ID", encode it, and export it to actually make a copy, and that, in a text you can't understand and that doesn't show your real FL ID (like for printing your IDs when you have more), so that's why I recommend using FL ID Changer for your first time, it literally has 5 buttons (3 more at the Manager), autodetects IDs, it shows your real IDs, and it's safe :P



    To generate real account keys, you can also (using the FL ID Changer) simply click on the "Clear installed FL ID" button and let the game generate one, but on some windows/PCs it may generate the same ID, so then you can make more windows accounts/users and play/launch the game from there, each windows user will get a diferent ID by the game itself (no tools), then you can use that FL ID Changer or FLAM (and do the whole thing to encode and save IDs) to swap between them in a single place, the first one, and delete the rest of the Windows Users.




    Btw, once you use the FL ID Changer you can never lose your IDs, even when you "Clear installed FL ID" you won't lose your ID, it will be stored at the "Manage FL IDs" button. Ya the only way to lose your ID is, after entering at the manager, to click "Delete FL ID".

    These are the kind of tutorials PERFECTLY fitting a dumbass on MP like me :D


    I've tested Whiskyrunners_Inc. method so far and it works GREAT ! :thumbup:
    But as Michael stated and IMPORTANT TO KNOW, it doesn't show you the account ID as you have to type it i.e. after a complete new installation.
    (perhaps working with FL ID Changer in addition you might be able to obtain it for "hard copy".)


    I will try the FL ID Changer later on also, to see which method I might goto prefer.

    I i'm to lazy to use FAM so i just opened another user account on my PC and CF was already installed with a fresh ID :D

    IKR... That's what I though :D I never used FAP *cough* FAM anyway :P My 5 buttons FL ID Changer seems much safer and simple :P
