Whenever I try to join the CF server, I keep getting this screen:
While Windows Firewall seemingly tried to block me out of the server at first, I later gave it permission. I still get an empty server screen. I also tried to use a fresh FLID. No luck. Any advice I could use?
I'm wondering if I screwed up my install (again) and have to do it all over again... 
Is possible that while install were not overwritten all vanilla files? ... (write protection problem?) and TWC instalation use old (vanila) server list?
I think im correct in saying you should select LAN only when it ask u ,dunno if that will help
Lan ? You never select LAN if you want to go on the internet servers aka Crossfire.
If none of the tips helped... this one might not be a proper one but could get the servers list to work. Try adding the FL 1.1 patch, which is not neccessary since 4 CF versions ago, but it could fix that. Instead of reinstalling it all again.
The 1.1 patch is just a server patch and does not solve client related problems. You probably should not install it - could be that you make more broken than you repair with it.
Instead it could be that the gls_workaround could be broken or is blocked for unknown reasons.
I use LAN option and it works fine. Have you uninstalled your antivirus yet?
It doesn't seem to matter if I choose LAN button or Internet button...both show same thing (the same list of servers)

Well, in that advice I tell that it should be the last option to be tried, before reinstalling it all again, as screwing the install more wouldn't matter. That said, it's not a recommended way. Though I remember it worked for somebody that had a similar problem, in 1.7...
If you need to reinstall its best to do it this way
uninstall cf using flmm ,uninstall flmm, uninstal fl
then check the folders its in and delete them, main fl folder and game save folder
reboot,install fl,reboot
install flmm,reboot,install cf and activate it in flmm,reboot
always works for me

then i run Ccleaner registry cleaner and restart pc
then check the folders its in and delete them, main fl folder and game save folder
reboot
here i run ccleaner again and restart pc and follow the tutorial for installing CF....because I love the "Hitchhickers Guide to CF" lol... very similar to what Wavey said, it does seem odd to install flmm and CF before FL.....but the tutorial always seems to work.

just a thought but when ur on the mp screen alt tab out and see if its asking you to do summat in windows and try and launch it with administrator
You may already know this but with AVG if you go to "components" then click on Anti-virus, then find the line that says Enable and uncheck it. Complete install then go back in and re-enable the anti-virus. I leave mine running all the time and haven't had any issues that couldn't be resolved. If I get what I know to be a False alert on any of the CF files, I just add those files to the exception list and no issue after that. I also have sent those files to AVG so they can look at what they need to do to correct the false alerts.
burn AVG its rubbish ... did u try global server workround ? ... that might help ? dunno just a guess
