Dom"Kavash... handing it to me

  • Ok, first: the developer who decided that multiple, looong trips through Dom'Kavash space from one jump hole to another would be a great time.... you were wrong! :cursing:


    Alright, that's off my chest. :rolleyes:


    I'm in a decent coalition ship.... don't remember the name of it. Shield is a 10 with a booster. Weapons are 9+.
    Now, I'm seriously getting it handed to me. The DK gunships are simply chewing me up. I've been out of batteries for the last four jumps. It's all about surviving. I try to get my wingmen to engage the gunships while I remain in fast travel mode. I spam countermeasures to try to avoid the anti-warp missiles. When it works I'm ok. When it doesn't I'm as good as dead.


    I feel like a chicken and I also wonder if I missed something. I get chewed up so quickly it's like my ship isn't even in the same league as the DK ships. 8|


    Any help? Or do I keep playing "chicken" until this part is over. Arggggh!

    If you keep your Countermeasure Dropper status green (in the lower right corner where you activate weapons), it will work automatically trying to disable each and every incoming missile without your participation. :)


    When they are on your tail, try moving your mouse in circles so that your ship would fly in a spiral - this way the chance to be hit drops dramatically.


    Shield is a 10 with a booster. Weapons are 9+.


    I hope "9+" means at least 2 Coalition Gattlings. :)
    Class-10 Shields are different in Crossfire, there are three more powerful than all others. I would strongly suggest that you use an Adv. Barrier H.F. Shield MK2 sold at Planet Tobruk in Neophobos system.

    I had figured out that spiral flying increases my chances of survival.
    Yes, I have several Gattlings.
    I think I have the Barrier shield but I'm not sure if it's MK2.
    Oh, and turning the dropper green will probably help. Although I wonder if it will still take several drops to shake one missile. I haven't checked but no doubt I'm running low on countermeasures, too. :S

  • DK gunboats are slower as you (if you have best thruster). You can easily "run" using engine kill.

    That's another thing: I don't have the best thruster. I lost it in a fight and I could find no replacements no matter where I docked. I upgraded my ship (which I was waiting to do) just so I could get a thruster. Top speed now is 450.
    Two things: By "engine kill" do you mean cruise disruption? It seems like they gain on me even when I'm on cruise. And then they fire their cruise disruption missiles and *boom* I'm a sitting duck. I have never been able to outrun them.


    Secondly, I was able to get to the Rienland ship and scan it (after, what, 7 long trips) . My escort just jumped out and I am left with Juni. The next phase: RETURN TO THE SOL SYSTEM! Are you kidding me?! Please tell me I do not have to traverse BACK to the SOL System the way I came. Please tell me there is a surprise cut scene where the Ancients jump in and ferret me away or something. I am down to 9 flares, have only Juni as my sole escort, and barely enough nanos to fix a leaky sink. One bad encounter with a Dk gunship will end me... quickly.

  • Dom Kavash space, that must be the part in the Coalition space, not the Inner Core.



    A tip to survive with DK Gunboats, stay at their tail, and fire from behind. They still have a weapon firing backwards, but it's better than the group of weps it has in front.

  • actually I meaned use engine kill while using basing acceleration (speed 200+). Gunboats are little slower so you can leave them behind.


    Search in config 'Engine kill' map it to key. After this in free flight try use it and watch your ship movement. You can 'run' much longer using this.
