HOW to access the chat on the forum

The option to invite members online is very useful, the one with "wcf.chat.invitation.open"

seems to work in chrome and ff but not in IE9 ....

I tried accessing this....not sure if my test was valid. I could see that 50 was online in list of moderators so I tried opening chat. All I get is a new screen that says "opening chat" and a progress thing that goes forever. Am I doing it wrong? I have ie8. In any event I will attempt to join at the meeting time

Edit...maybe is same reason I can't see spoiler boxes.....so hopefully it's not same for all members that might use ie8

the same for me too marauder the chat just says loading in progress but thats it and the spoiler box used to open but no more so i gave up in the end

Only Moderators can join moderator group... as well as Galaxy Rangers group, and etc.

The group names are there for something

ok...so I go the same place tomorrow...if theres a chat opened I should be able to join? I went where AD showed.

Uhhhh lol Probably your browser, ditch ie and go for chrome

Another browser is unfortunately not a solution on this PC

If I can find a solution for the chat not working on IE, I will post it, else I will try and borrow another computer.

Oh well, I spent a couple hours trying to figure out what is problem with ie accessing the chat...no luck. I really don't want multiple browsers so it looks like I can't make it. I look forward to hearing from others what I have missed

Edit.. I uninstalled java and reinstalled...no affect, I double checked all security related settings...no affect. I listed Swat Portal as trusted website and set with no restrictions, no affect. I tried a million different settings, no affect. Is the same as the issue I have with spoiler boxes. On the bright side, if I/we ever figure out why these issues are...then the other few billion people using IE will also be able to use some of these features

I doubt there are any kind of PCs that can't use another browser than IE. That means, you can have IE and another browser installed at once, as IE is needed for games and other software, stuff. But you can use another browser just for roaming arrond the internet... in a bigger boat like Firefox or a canoa but faster boat like Opera/Chrome. Chrome beta is another big boat, not a canoa.

some might use working PCs and firms often have a guideline or system limitation to use other browsers. If you dont want to loose your job - you better follow the guideline of your firm. Thats it.

At somebody's job, I doubt the "guidline" allows you to spend time watching sites or chat over anything, from msg to this chat.

hmm, now, it all depends on the bosses.

At my company I allow people to also do 'private stuff' during work hours, as long as it is in moderation, as they do spend long hours at work.

I also know a lot of my friends that allow it at their companies.

What is restricted, is the software that can beloaded, specially FF and Chrome, both of whom ignore certain security settings and allows cookies and tracing to take place.

What browsers your company uses ?
I doubt on a normal IE browser's security.

It's very odd....so I did notice that it showed in the meeting minutes that I logged on....but I was never able to see aything except "the chat is loading" and a progress circle. I enabled the java console logging and tested on several other sites. I checked alot of sites using java chat plugins and was able to access it with no problems on any other site. When I try at SWAT, java doesn't initiate the console or any logging either. It must be a plug-in issue? Just thought I'd pass on what I tried.
