I meant in a pvp, just circling zik-zak around so he can't hit you and just firing missiles

As a fighting tactic?
Yeah, Hit&Run pvp style is the topics name, nice work shocky...
-
Sry for off topic, anyway hit and run in FL is pretty much hard if not impossible... i did it many times in other games and many said noob and stuff like that , the hit and run style in mmorpg's usualy it's called simple "kite" you either hit and run to annoy enemy in one of your traps or to bring them on a terain you like or to bring them near your party/group, or you just choose to piss of their nerves till they can't take it anymore and stop concentrating at the actual game and ofc that's when you have the upper hand...
[/video]
The only available hit and run i noticed you can do in FL is trying to win some time until your dead mate from planet/station undocks and comes to hit from behind(that's a tactic too)
not to many enjoyed my hit and run as i did here, but i won:)

when you're able to do something like that, you can say you know to hit and run:) -
well this is usual what people do, who wouldn't stand a chance in a "normal" fight.
If someone fires missiles only and you can't hit them with your guns, then be faster with your CD's to make them kissing their own blast
-
the undoubtedly lamest PvP style is that of flying around in circles, shooting a salvo every few seconds, spaming CD and trying to constantly avoid gunners.
I usually try to avoid these people as it takes away the thrill and fun I have in PvP -- and it is a waste of time.
-
I agree with Spiky.
A waste of time and dishonorable as well.
-
I agree with both
-
I agree with everyone who is against this "tactic", it's the most lame one and everyone who used it got hated and punished by players sooner or later. That is not a PvP tactic, it's a cat and mouse playing.
-
I have maybe weird question: if is run&hit tactics working, then why should not ppl use it? That it is "lame"? ... but LOL ... is not right reason that such fight simply not fit for old school players? What about ability to be adaptable and learn how to fight against this tactics? Sorry, but it looks to me as nonsense that all should use only one unified style so ppl really good in those fight will have always advantage. Imo fight in PvP mean find better tactics how to kill your opponent ... history never ask how was things done, but only have record about result.
I think you know me, I also like guns fights, but I see no reason why should ppl who are really good with missiles use the same (for them less effective) tactics ...
-
hmmm i love all pvp tactic...
-
Because that tactic is not a PvP... for a PvP to exist both players have to fight eachother, not one run and the other one chase, where in bigger fights the chaser may have other people chasing him, while he's wasting the time to catch that runner, and if the chaser turns arround and fight the ones behind him, the runner turns arround as well and starts to use everything he has, including guns.
That is why in a real life war, there were at least 2 fronts to fight eachother, never 1 front going over another country's terrain and chase some guys in pink bikini running arround keeping their distance to avoid getting shot.
-
Meh, I'm on the practical side...
SHS' signature is nice in this manner. Honor is a fool's prize. Glory is of no use to the dead.
-
Well, it's not practical either as people will even break the rules to destroy those runners at any moment of their game play. So he will be more than dead.
-
Just bs...anything that will destroy you will be fair and noted as a tactic or non-tactic(doesn't matter) that will pwn you, i've met that kind of guys and don't think works that great their so called tactic. Doesn't matter which way you use to win as long as you're the one standing at the end:P Al speaks about honor bs in a game, srsly act like that in rl:P
-
PvP is nothing else than Player vs Player. No declaration how long the fight hast to last, no declaration how it has to be done.
Everything "special", will have to be settled before the duel/pvp begins. So all parties are pleased
If someone prefers to use missiles and avoid gunfire by spinning around. well. let them try. Even those will die.
I prefer having those guys to fight than having those who constantly try to run from/avoid each fight, or login off before you can even hit a shot.As long you have moving targets. SHOOT.
-
Hey its RP. There is nothing that can force you fight one or not. Has also nothing to do with honor or not.
Example: Lately i had a bounty on my head (yeah that happens from time to time :)). I was going to leave Arena as i got a message if someone might take that bounty. I replied sure you can.
Then i left Arena and accidentally met this guy. He said go and i was going. Away from himHe thought i would turn and fight him. But first of all i didnt said i fight him. He wanted to get the bounty. I complied he can.
And actually its called bounty hunter and not bounty fighter. Hunting, running, escape belongs to the RP as well and it actually can be really funny. My all time favorite the whole PX clan was once on my tail but werent able to stop me - hunting me down the entire Sirius sector. That was more fun than just saying. Ok lets fight, i die you are happy. So all aspects of the game count - running belongs to it very well too.

Whe I was collecting bounties, I sometimes swoop in, collect the bounty, then bolt. So, some guys say, "Hey, you need to give warnings before you do that!!!!"
Warning: If you have a bounty on your head, every merc for 500 parsecs will be coming to blast you out of space. Consider yourself warned.
Pirates of old raised the skull and crossbone flag to instill fear into their prey, cops have sirens for warning. Bounty hunters don't call up bounties and tell them to get ready, we are coming to get you. Except for freelance pilots, we should all know by now who the pirates are. We should all know who the cops are. And we should all know who the mercs are. We all have a list of who is in space and what system they are in. We all have a HUD. I check these regularly to see who is near and what I might be dealing with in space. As a result, I've never been ambushed. Even on the few times when I've had a bounty on me.
-
I find it interesting that no one noticed the sarcasm in my before-last post
It doesn't matter what tactic you use, you will have the consequences.
-
Well. Bounty Hunters (mercenaries) are free to choose whether they give a prior warning to their "victim" or not.
And I agree with HuorIf I got a bounty on my head and I prefer to ignore the BH's then they will actually have to chase me for "their" reward.
Rex knows how long it can take to collect a bounty, don't you Rex?. And I was polite waiting every time he had to come out of the station in Theta again
But it was fun, and thats all what counts, I think
If you got a bounty placed on your marble, then you will recognize if someone is heading your way, when you pay attention to the other pilots out there. -
hehe, so bounty hunters also have it hard to catch somebody, as well as how pirates have it hard to catch a copper who's not up to fight at that moment.
