Really fascinating...

    Well i am somehow impressed how much threads are opened with totally nonsense. You open threads to count upwards and downwards from left to right and back to forth. Never aimed to finally finish one before you start a new one.
    Then threads that were already present to give opinions about each others avatars and signatures (like yours bad, yours too, but yours too and yours too...). Totally useless in my opinion.


    I mean its sure an offtopic subforum. Offtopic but means that there should be posts (and not SPAMS!) about stuff that does not belong to any other topic.
    Things like birthday greets, discussions about the armageddons, what effect solar flares have on the environment and such. But must it really be spammed with so much useless count and nonsense threads?
    I find it also interesting that we open threads to get information about problems server side that are spammed with opinions, possible things and so. How do you think it makes it easier for us to work on the real matters, inquiries if we have to filer useless posts out to get the information we need?


    You really stress my nerves to read all these (nonsense) threads what is my job here - but tend to loose the interest and cloak this thread. Or i start to close and delete useless count and each others opinion threads what in my opinion is just SPAM.

    For important discussions not related with CF, there are "General Discussions" section in the "The SWAT Portal" section, "Real Life News" and several other sections, and the CF related ones have their zones.


    As I see at the description of the Off Topic section tells: "Talk about what's on your mind! For topics unrelated to our other forums."
    The reports and other important threads that appear in the Off Topic section instead of their proper section are the ones missplaced, not the counter and other threads.


    Flood and/or "useless" threads exist in the Off Topic sections since the SWAT Portal itself(2003 ? ), Top reasons of something being better than something else, Word Synonims/games, counters, etc... why to change it now ?

    Because you want to count to 30000 since 6 years and dont finished it yet, then you want to count the 30000 first prime numbers since 2007 and didnt finished it yet, then you start from 20000 backwards since 2008 and didnt finished it yet. What about counting the first 50000 Fibonacci numbers? The square roots of 10000 backwards? Besides that it doesnt make any sense than to prove if the database works correctly or you prove that you have learned counting it adds really no valuable content. And either you already have learned couting or you dont. We dont have the task to teach counting - do we?


    How about just finish one thread with counting and then start a new one? I mean its not the counting threads at all - they are part since ages now (unfortunate). But the totally nonsense lately posted just raised a normal level. I though you guys have facebook for such crap and must not waste this forum space for it. And actually we could easily move more than 50% of the threads to this section just because every useful thread is ripped apart and spam and nonsense arguments are posted.


    Sorry but i just think its too much lately. Too much of offtopic and spam! And it takes too much time to read them all, time that could be used for more useful stuff - from all participants!

    The counting threads are indeed simple flood in difference of others where the poster have to think a bit, but no one started new ones lately (as I seen), and why you have to read how others count from 1 to 30000 ?

    Of course it is too much off topic in the off topic section. It is not meant to read them all for busy people, with no time, it is meant as "not important" and "extra fun" for those who have the time and want to use it reading stuff, as the first threads started by Swat XL R8R then OP, you don't have to read the "Top 10 ways how to make your gf shut up" and such.
    The only thing to be read there are the Happy Birthday threads, whoever posts something more important there means he don't want to take it seriously.

    Counting threads are my favourite :verrueckt:
    But undoubtedly there is too much useless stuff appeared recently on the whole forum, as well as in the off-topic section in particular. Glad to see it's not only me having noticed this tendency.


    Another problem is that serious off-topic threads like the demo one I started are much less alive.[box=blue] :( [/box]

    double click the icon infront of the threads that you dont want to read or set certain board to ignore on your profile ^^

    Huor have a point about it but there comes the other part of problemm, just read the thread tittle say in your mind "not worth reading" and go on, about the threads number it's indeed a huge one and most of them are either worthless either just for fun, some ppl just uses forum nowdays more then actualy playing the game(wich is kind of sh1ti),
    And Michael threads like Avatars comenting/signature comenting and bla bla bla could be one thread for both, to not happen things like i comented on your signature thread and comes Spiky(ghey boy) and comments about my avatar and how huge are my sunglasses:)
    I mean no offense for anyone but both sides are right:)
    How about all fck the forum a bit and here speak more about what's worth speaking about, for instance why my ship always has a "slide effect" in game why missiles aren't fixed and most of the time goes straight off target without any aim i know it's not dedicated for the Off topic section but yet...let's actualy play the game maybe and leave the forum's "telenoveladrama".

    Well, there is no such threads in our clan forum. But we have another problem - forum members activity.
    It means - not all people are like talking always direct on the subject. Some of them interested mostly to spam :)

    And now just imagine what would have happend if I would have dared to speak out this point. which I alsmost did several times.
    I did mentioned similar things in several posts of mine already. And I saw what I got out of it.

    There are several spam forums outside, for those who need to spam/flood for no reason. Thats what they have been created for :)
    I see those forums as sort of butt bucket for the internet, where everyone can drop their mental waste ;)
