[DRA] Clan Recruiting discussion

  • I understand pirate role playing, I was just discouraged by this unspoken rule in general not being made public on the main site under server rules.
Hell I sometimes make myself neutral sometimes to factions to get an advantage on our clans enemy hostiles such as rheinland, liberty, military, police etc and all those fun factions to kill and pod.:)

  • Well BlackWing, I understand your doubts about the rules, they may get fixed soon enough, when OP has the time.

Meanwhile, you now already know that rule, and I see you already changed your Clan's Thread. Well done.
To NPCs, you can do as you wish, kill police, kill pirates, get allied with police, there are no issues on what you do with the NPCs. The limitations are just to keep fair play for other human players, not to be afraid of moving a finger cus of a huge list of rules.

    And, welcome DRA :)

No need for anyone to repeat the same thing to DRA anymore, so don't pick on them ^^

  • I am sorry if my stubbornness and determination infuritated people over a simple issue.

Which I have now come to understand that this problem isn't widely regarded as one by some people here and thanks bond.

Its nice to speak to people who can see both sides of the fence.:)
Thanks Michael and yeah I get this rule now.

  • Determination is good. Else you give up too easely on things you shouldn't, like making good RP online and not falling into personal conflicts arround (making bad RP ) :D

And don't worry, no one got mad about this, else it'd be noticed.

  • After reading some posts on the forum, its easy to believe that Freelancer as a whole is losing players to other games/ consoles etc.
Of course its great to see a fairly good community here on Crossfire and some quite obviously loyal and hardworking players that have spent alot of time building it.

On the second hand its also great to see newer members trying to get a grip on things , and try to commit themselves to crossfire by making clans of some description and contribute towards the Roleplay element. I have met Blackwing a few times, and to be honest, he`s a nice bloke with good intentions towards the server as a whole.
As far as the rules go, somethings do not seem black or white to newer members and long term members can sometimes seem intimidating where it comes to "interpretations" of certain rules.

Give him time, im sure adjustments can still be made as the DRA clan is still in its infancy.

Good Luck Blackwing is my messege.

  • And how many times in 1.8, before smuggling required a liscence did you guys [yes, all you guys] call it "trading". How many times you guys ask to enter Casius to "trade" on the Station Blueprint run? IOC stands for Independent Operators' Consortium made up of indepentent mercs and "traders"...yes, trader with quotes. I'm an independent merc who joined IOC with Centurian Alpha...who is an independent "trader". As far as I know, it's always been this way. I have several fighters and always wear the merc tag [never switch]. Centurian Alpha has several cargo vessels...all with smuggler liscences [even in 1.8]. It has been this way since IOC was formed. And smuggling has always been called trading by everyone except the guys who are smuggling. :D

So, when you see on the Server Clan page that IOC is a merc/trader clan then, yes, we "trade".

  • Interesting, hmm ... but before it here move to 'wild discussion' can we all wait a little? I ask OP for exact rules for such situation.

  • My opinion:

One clan one RP. Or we dont need licenses in general = chaos ...again. The same should be valid for veteran FL.

  • One clan = one chosen RP = one chosen RP license. Means the clan must choose a license and its RP. They may not change the license. IOC have chosen the merc license - means their main territory is merc. Must not mean they may not "trade" at all.

Its eventually not written that way. But there are several older players here who have confirmed this already.

  • We are indeed talking about an unwritten rule. Unwritten because it is logical result of the entire RP system. There never was a need to write it down.
Infact if we would put every eventuality into the server rules every new player would need to read a book before playing.

    One Clan, one roleplay.
It was already explained why switching is no good idea and why it does conflict with the existing RP rules.
This also is not CF1.8 anymore... we have CF1.9 and as part of the RP system we have been working on features as the licence restrictions or the (not active) reputation changes when choosing a licence.
All this is something that was discussed here on the forum and wanted by the players.
If you want to call it Merc/Trader, Pirate/Trader or whatever... is your choice.
Trader is no official RP on the server and nobody can deny that every RP faction is trading.
If this will ever change is something i can not say atm.

there is something else which i have to ask now.

    Quote

    Roleplay: Pirate
Access for Freelancers: Yes so long as you pick or mount the required pirate license, members who are below lvl 40 need not mount the disired pirate license.
Access for Clans: PX, LP, IOC, Fallen.
    'Subject to change.

is this about a clan system that i dont know of yet?

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • No it is only about a clan and who maybe allowed to join or interact with this clan.
With access restricted to the quoted clans and rule's above.
And there is no need for a clan system as of yet as to quote what TEZZ said.
DRA is still in its infancy.
