Hi
I've just started multiplayer and was Ordered to leave Sigma 13 and then blown to bits....this is Not FREElancer!. Aren't you supposed to explore these wonderful systems
and discover their treasures and have fun blasting aliens and each other and not be policed by anyone,I thought that was the whole point...I really enjoyed open single player and was always encouraged on these forums to try multiplayer cos it was so much more fun,but now I find I'm restricted it seems pointless trying to go to a particular system for a specific bit of kit
if I'm denied access or blown to smithereens.I would just like to be able to roam free!.
Vardek.

Hi Vardek,
Can you give here some details who attacked you and why? And what was your character lvl? We can much more help you if we know this. Is very good use in such situations print-screen and store proofs for later use.
... look also at Faq here about server rules. There you can found much very important details about MP.
... And not give up! Maybe is start difficult, but I can assure you that little later you can have much more fun in MP as in SP.

Was you char name "VardeIXL5" ?

if you want to "roam free " play SP
if you want to play Crossfire then learn the rules
PS
welcome to crossfire

If you think this is bad, try playing on a Discovery server...

You'll have to give us more info on what happened if we're to answer your questions. This is Crossfire. RP is always on. If you wanna just fly around and enjoy yourself without getting shot, you may just have to stick with SP. I enjoy MP because real players make the game a whole lot more interesting, but that's just me.
You tell us the situation and we'll be able to tell you why what happened happened. Hail anyone with a clan tag in game to ask questions and I'm sure they'll love to help you out! Looking forward to seeing you in space!

Playing freelancer does not mean that you can not be killed.

You seem to confuse some facts here.
You were actually in Tohoku, you were told that several times by me and maxbur.
We told you DC owns that system and we have rules.
You did not respond at any time and after being told to leave the system right through the jumphole next to you at least three times you tried to run.
Then you were engaged and destroyed.I know you only want to roam the system and I don´t hold any personal grudge against you, but enforcing my clans rules my honorable duty.
And if you ask the next time before entering Tohoku, we will most likely give you the permission, if we have no special clan training or something like that at that time.Sphinx

Even in Single Player there are places you can't go unless you have the right connections. (usually reputation)
If you're fully hostile with the Corsairs and try to dock on their Planet Crete, you will be denied...
Multi-Player is very much the same...there are places that you can't go without the right reputations.
Clans have the option to own their own system and set the rules there.
In this case...The Tohoku system is owned and patrolled by the Dragon Corps, and it sounds like they tried to give you a chance to explain yourself.
I know Sphinx and Maxbur pretty well...and I doubt they would take advantage of a new player for sport...
Try to look at it from their perspective...
You were a complete unknown in their "home"...and you (according to Sphinx) failed to respond to their hails...
If someone came into your house and started rummaging around with your stuff, and ignored you when you asked them what they were doing, you'd probably react in a hostile manner as well.
Remember...communication is key...I'm sure that if you had replied to Sphinx and Max, and explained that you were an explorer and just wanted to look around, they would have been more than happy to let you...(correct me if i'm wrong guys...but SA is pretty lenient with non-clanned freelancers and letting them come and go as they please)
We don't want to badger you...we want all the active enthusiastic players we can get...but players need to understand that there are certain rules (both server rules and roleplay rules) that must be followed...if the rules aren't followed...then you'll probably get killed.
It happens all the time...hehe
Fly safe...and keep your eyes open....the DC guys are cops...but there ARE pirate clans out there too, that can and will stop you on site and demand payment...according to the server rules...if you ignore them...they have the right to shoot you...
On the opposite side of the coin...how boring would the game be if there were no rules? then it would just be one group of the most powerful players controlling everything through sheer force...
If we play by the rules...and play for the sake of fun (that's why we're all here in the first place, right?) everyone wins.

And one important info for "only exploring safe
" (not count for clan systems as you know now):
Section 2c – Open (Cop/Mercenary/Pirate/Smuggler) Role-Playing Rules
Note: Character refers to a single character within the game. Player refers to the individual playing.
The Open Role-Play runs 24/7. In the Open Role-Play you play as if you where a Police Officer, Mercenary, Pirate or Smuggler. Characters actively participate in this by purchasing and mounting the appropriate Role-Playing licence. Characters below 40th level are exempt from the Open Role-Play, all other characters are included whether they have a Role-Play licence mounted or not. If you do not have a licence mounted then you may still be included in the Open Role-Play: Pirates may still tax you, Police fine you and Mercenaries pursue bounties placed on you. ASF/CSF role-play takes priority over open role-play.... if you want more than basic exploring, Incognito said a most important details.
