    What is Wikileaks,

well wikileaks purpose is not to collect the knowledge of the world in one central place - no its purpose is to collect information about "mostly" political topics that should be kept hidden. There are many discussions about the pros and cons of this service. Wikeleaks is known to reveal secrets about foreign affairs, wars, diplomatic documents and a lot more.

I am whether not sure how much trust you can put on those revelations on one side i think its good to inform the people (but with the premise that those information provided there are 100% correct) and on the other side i think that not everybody needs to know everything (at least not in such tense times where diplomatic conflicts should be avoided - also for the safety of one countries security). I am kinda torn on this topic. What do you think about Wikileaks - do you have any thoughts about such a topic?

  • Wiki leaks is geared to politically assassinate the United States and any democracy that exists. Countries have been spying for years, using clandestine operations to stay one step ahead of the "next guy", which in a world that is chock full of unsavory enterprises, military complexes and corporate battlegrounds. Diplomats and operators have kept this world from plunging into several global wars, the arms race at bay and basically with 3 cases that are historical fact, prevented total nuclear disaster. Clandestine ops, backroom deals and questionable state secrets, although messy, are a necessity.

Mr.Assange will have an accident in the near future and he well deserves it. What he has done can easily destablize the entire globe by pinning the 3 largest economic giants to the political mat, which is a mistake.

This kind of information puts people's lives at risk, in my opinion it should be stopped.

    Hmp
    How then?
    If you think about it...
WHY DOES THE US GOVERNMENT hide shit?
The bastards are just trying to protect their reputation from the public and from the media because US is a nation build on democracy
The information simply states that what those bastards are hiding their mistakes and is the US government just going to say on national tv
"our army has just killed hundreds of civilians and we say sorry" = they lose votes from the public

By hiding information it angers other nations ect
AND the US get all scared and pissed when these information is leaks hmp
though the thing is...why is wiki leaks focused on the US
    hm
though the founder of wiki is going to get killed one day cause its not a very good idea to get on the US govs's bad side..

  • I agree with Gunny on this one, Assange will accidentally and brutally cut his own head off while shaving or something along those lines.

I also agree that the public does not need to know everything. People have a nasty habit of being retarded herd animals, even if comprised of relatively smart individuals.
However therein lies a problem - when is the information a "the public can't know of this because it's high risk" and when is it a "let's not tell that we screwed up just to cover our asses"?

In any case, history will tell.

  • I consider wikileaks the best thing that happened over the past decades.
It is not wikileaks which risks the lives of others... the ones which have sent the people to war are the ones risking those lives.

Unmoralic, unfair and heavily offensive stuff is revealed. And people really have the nerves to blame wikileaks for it?
If people wouldnt have done shit in first place then they wouldnt have to fear that their shit is being revealed now.
What is this crying about wikileaks good for?
Ever considered that many troubles could have been prevented by being fair, honest and forthright?
Ever considered that publishing the truth instead the propaganda can lead to more fairplay and something good?

There are way too many secrets in this world. History is written by the victor but the truth gets lost.

  • Mr. Assange is a known former hacker and at best with his efforts with Wikileaks, is he is now effectively a international criminal for releasing sensitive US government information, PERIOD. The U.S. government is going to see that the man is put behind bars and if the Australian government cooperates, his days as a free man are numbered.(which incidentally might actually keep him alive longer... as I'm sure there are numerous hit men looking for him now) Granted some might say the US government had it coming to them, of that I probably won't wholly disagree, but that's not the issue here... Had Assange leaked sensitive government data on say Iran, Syria or Turkey, the man probably would not be alive right now or he would be living in protection and hiding for the rest of his life.

I also second Gunny's thoughts on the matter.

Regardless of what you people see as transparency of governments of which I'm not entirely wholly against mind you... However, there are certain things that NEED TO STAY SECRET, lest it destabilize the entire planet's fragile government relations and bring us damn near to the brink of war.

Mr. Assange has done a good job of inciting that so far, so thanks pal, you're a real friend.

Not too surprisingly, Interpol placed Assange on its red notice list of wanted persons for a swedish sex crime investigation and have placed an arrest warrant out for him.

Learning the truth is important without a doubt, but without diplomacy and some tact in how to go about it, you could cause more harm than good in the long term. Most likely, it will probably be the last thing Julian Assange will ever learn, before someone makes an attempt at his life I'm sure.

  • I think it's great. With the governments of the world and the corporations having amassed such power over the average citizen, the citizens needs to have a way to balance the equation. You can't expect to live in a healthy democracy if the people do not know what the people they are voting for are doing once elected. If the government can spie on it's citizen the citizens should be able to spie on the government. And it's the same thing for the free market, one of the founding principle of capitalism is the free flow of information.

I see wikileaks has one of the greater force for democracy and peace at work in the world. The more power to the people the better.

And the people of wikileaks aren't criminals. They aren't the ones who leaked the documents, a member of the US military did that. They are no more criminals they the news services that are doing the same.

  • It is pretty simple...
Imagine a dark cold night somewhere in a forest. Suddenly somebody turns on a flashlight and the light cone reveals a murderer and his dead victim.
Who is responsible for the murder?... the guy with the axe or the guy with the flashlight?

Life is simple... we just make it complicated to hide something.

Ever thought about the word "trust" and that no government on this planet can trust those people any longer. Why would I want to cooperate with a country which is constantly lying to me... and even to its own citizens. The day will come that this country will stay alone, seperated from the world.

Well and at this day you can practically say that this particular country is damned to extinction as of no export or import possibility's nowadays in or so greatly stabilized world trade economy this country`s economy will shatter and create Chaos and in chaos destroy itself like a person being sick from cancer this country will die and then the other country will wage war again about this piece of rock they where they would get more of the needed minerals .

this is a nice way of waging war and it happens even right now just nobody sees or knows about it wars is not waged anymore in sending troops to battlegrounds to fight and kill each other off no..no now they attack the cultural stability of a country and dos`t kill just a few people and take over the country no...no ...no.... they destroy an entire country so that there is no chance of that country to try to rebel over the overtaking of it.

That is Truly an art of how to kill a not a person but a country and its entire population. :applaus:

  • Bla bla bla, no offense ofc, but wtf is this? The Truth?...Ohhh my...Something that was supposedly been hidden for years, does not necessarily mean that it is true!Or it does?

Simple and cheap masquerade, and what is hidden behind it, time will tell!Anyway i do not buy it!!! Another lazy try from "world rulers"

Two words: Bull Shit :bhuhwhere: IMO

  • Quite impossible to prove the truth is the truth... Some invent conspiracies to please those who don't like the government. Governments are lying to save their face in front of the ppl... The point is that there is no solution to that except all staying at home. but now, we need to collaborate to survive... ah damn the problem remains !

    Lfetime of a country :
We find a piece of land, ppl live on it but we'll push them in a Natives reserve (or slaughter them or burn them or enslave them depends on the time period and location) and settle here. The place is different from where we come from and we start believing in different values, let's get independant and build a country where we live well like we wish to. Years of peace go by we are strong, we are peaceful, we succeeded. Now let's try to show the world how they should live cause, hey, we live great ! invasion ! we were stronger, we won, we go back home. it worked, lets do it again.... won again !..... It escalates until the unavoidable happens : a dude has enough and decide to act : an attack happens in our peaceful territory. So minor* it may be compared to the previous actions made elsewhere by my country but we want to avenge... we will do like we did for decades now, we'll invade them and show them how they must live but this time with a thirst for vengeance which makes our response much stronger than what hit us... It can go a long way like that.... until like the dude said above : the country collapse on itself due to a lack of internal maintenance...

*(You might have noticed the reference to 9/11 and the war in Iraq in the end of my story) I used the word minor because, with all due respect to victims of the World Trade Center and their families, its not much compared to the civillians that have been killed by the US and their friends (Canada, UK, France, etc...) for decades prior to it (Gulf war #1, vietnam, etc...). I don't have the numbers but i'm pretty sure its above the 6000 count at NY in 2001. Crying for our lost ones is normal but why are we not for the ppl we killed out of our territory ? Why do we hide our own dead ppl with white blankets with the utmost respect and don't give a damn about seeing hundreds of chinese/arab/russian villagers dead, piled in mud or under collapsed buildings after a natural disaster or a armed conflict ? The ppl we are and the ppl they are deserve the same respect IMO.

I understand the motivation of a country like the US to do-good elsewhere. All those soldiers (Gunny, SA_LOYAL, that Captain from the USAF that just returned from duty, and many others here) are all fighting for the good and to free ppl from a life style they believe to be wrong. The men and women in camouflage suits have my respect for fighting and sacrificing for their values and country they love, its a thing many ppl cannot do, although i hope each and everyone of you who fought or will fight, know that ppl in front of you are humans and they are so close to be just like you. Color and religion dont make ppl more or less human in biology. Native american had the most profound respect for the animals they hunted and killed. They feeded on them to survive like modern soldiers fight to help their lifestyle survive and prevail. The sadness is that respect has been thrown out of the equation at some point at the beginning of the last century...

I wish there would be a way to unite and accept common values and way of living without killing half the globe that is not agreeing with us but i'm no fool and i know its impossible. Unless something much greater arrives to threaten us as a race and not as individuals or countries. Unless NASA announces they found an alien invasion force coming towards us this after noon in their press conference, it's not tomorrow we'll have a united human race....

I guess it was way more simple in the time of nomadic tribes avoiding each other ^^

EDIT : wow i deviated so much from the topic !!! Sorry !

  • Pls pls pls pls pls

Arkane... give me just one try to guess in which country u live! :D

What has that got to do with anything here Diablo? This isn't just about the US my good man, this concerns the entire political spectrum of the planet and it's ramifications of said data opening up a proverbial can of worms that we very likely could all end up eating!

I'm well aware of the great likelihood of other country's dirty laundry of their past clandestine actions or internal communications as well that doesn't need any airing out by Mr. Assange. So also understand that no country on the face of this planet is innocent of such subversion, deception and crookedness folks. Nearly every nation does it, no thanks on the part of Mr. Assange, it's just the US got caught red handed.

I'll repeat this again for emphasis folks in the hopes you fully understand and absorb what I'm saying:

Learning the truth is important without a doubt, but without diplomacy and some tact in how to go about it, you could cause more harm than good in the long term.
