  • during the past year I have done my job at 100% here


    - you got an outstanding mod
    - i made sure that the server can hold 50-60 players without problem (that is possible and we already have seen that)
    - i fixed its bugs and made it extremly stable
    - i have build (with some help) a very good website for CF
    - i have created a modern community here at SWAT
    next to that we have a very good roleplay set and good gameplay


    Actually ALL conditions are excellent
    You have no excuse anymore why ppl are not actively playing.


    So your job is to get this server full within the next 1-2 months. I dont care about how you do that. I just want it to be done. Active is +40 players regulary.
    I dont want to hear any excuses... that is your damn job now.
    IF you fail then CF1.82 is the very final Crossfire version and based on your failure it wont live very long.
    So you better get your asses up and do something now!
    I have done my job already, you not.

    I would like to use this thread for a few thoughts how it can be done.


    The very 1. of all.


    When you started to play FL/CF in the beginning you made friends and was talking to them, many of them are gone - everyone of you can write eMails just do it and invite them again with your own personal words. Most of you are telling all the time how great this Mod is - well, we all know it your old Freelancer and claned friends don´t - tell it to them and help them to step in.

    If you are going to google Freelancer Game Microsoft just search some gaming Forums, tell the people how this Mod is (please don´t do it at other FL Communities cause this will not higher the FL Players) take Huors post and post it there - but don´t do this in many Forums just use a few where you will look up later again and answer possible questions. And again help incoming ppl.


    If you do this on a dayly base only one eMail per Day and/or one other Forum per Day you will see that it is working after a few days/weeks - try to use the nick which you are using here or in the Game and feel responsible for the ppl. Oh yes, in no case recruit those ppl into a Clan before they came up on their own feed. You just have to offer 30 Minutes of your Gaming time to do so.

    Also, OP, isnt a mass email option you can use, sending mails to all the accounts on Swat with the TEXT Ad Huor made on the other side, adding the new screenshots of CF 1.82 he made which would dramatically help with our job ? :D



    Also, if it isn't too much asking, we could know (from you) a small short and quite nice for a freighter to make a bit of $ for their fighters to every noob we have as visitor ? The first thing new people ask is about $$ making :D Then to do something else... like exploring (with their exceptions).
    You could make a nice route there, and make newark or whichever, an undockable base by trains or cap ships...:D A route which could be about 3 times at week :P

  • Personally i will try to attract some ppl, but i think i am better in helping ppl who step at server, in order to keep them here, for a long period of time.And yes OP do all this work alone, but during past months many new players come and go, and i talked to and help many of them.PPl leave us cos server was unstable, trading was, let me say this uninteresting, many vital function are changed few times and many many more negative things.My idea is not to bring all arguments and facts, why server is so empty, cos i know that OP can bring twice more as our fault.


    I just wanted to find a balance when we talk about accountability.


    Of course many ppl can say:Hey where is OP's responsibility? He created all, he fund all, he organize all, he bring his free time in front of us...and many many more...and yes i share the same feeling...but i hope that many of u know:
    with high level of intelligence comes high responsibility,
    with high level of creativity comes the desire to create a variety of things,
    with high level of education comes that u "must" educate/ help others,
    with high level of energy and lot of spirit comes charisma and u must accept a leadership role,...there is more examples but i think this is enough for review of whole situation here.

  • Understood OP. I'll see if I can't recruit a few more people. I'm very proud of myself, though. Plus me, I've gotten two other people to play and a third who plans to as soon as he gets his computers back from the CIA (don't ask). ;) Unfortunately, I'm relatively new here so I don't have any "old" contacts. But I'll do my best to get some new blood. Thanks for everything you do OP, I'm sure everyone appreciates it. :blove: :bohsw: (okay, awkwardness over... :bwowdude: )

    1 correction, OP: how a mod looks like has almost nothing to do with the number of ppl who play the server, it's how Roleplay is planned and executed from the very beginning, and ofc, one of the reasons for the decrease that more than 60% of the old players were 25+ in age and have left video games for good or for an extended period of time for real life reasons... NO, this is not an excuse not to play the game, and I'm pretty sure you would have the mod even if it was only for you, cuz let's face it, not like you benefit financially from it, whether there are 10 or 100 players playing


    If it is action you're looking for, then don't add 15 new system to disperse players throughout space with every mod version, better redo what you had before, and enrich vanilla/1.7 bases/planets/ships database - with 15 ppl playing and the space as vast as it is now in 1.8 every player can trade in different system and never meet each other in space

    The way I see it, it means we have those 2-3 weeks then to take advantage of the new release to get "curious" visitors "addicted"...
    This leads to different threads about clan activities, RPing... There are more chances someone joining a clan will remain active for
    a while on CF than a freelancer... That would be my guess anyway...


    As for CF being too big... I think (correct me if wrong) Swat_OP would rather see all those systems filled than reducing its size to fit current number!

    it took some time to change the code of the portals mail system to allow to send html mails (good looking mails have much better effects)
    the newsletter is out, aswell as some ads on various FL communities (eventhough i have the feeling that the one sent to TSP got lost again, but i dont care about that one as its not frequently being visited by players)

  • Faaby, adict the Players to the Mod, the Gameplay, the Community and the RP, no matter which clan they will join after it they will stay long - just experiences from someone who saw many players coming and going.
