This is something I need to learn. Tell me where to find the best source where I can learn this, so I can be of help in the future.
-
i had that tutorial somewhere ... its not so hard to make it when you know what to do .. but almost every possible shape has been done until now ...
OP, cant we just extract few ships from DS1 and make them work in FL ? it should work .. i tried it already, but i cant find the damn ship files on my installation disc for the game ... maybe some error ..

Gunny,
download milkshape from isohunt or use limewire pro. it includes a tutorial. -
Fl Hardpoint editor is helpfull too (you get it on LR)...
-
I`ve tried moddeling some time ago... And realise, that i have no talent...
-
Good to see you LJ.
Thx Dopp, Inferno & C9.
Meanwhile, lets spread the word in game to get people involved.
Another opportunity to assist Op, lets not allow it to go unanswered.
-
Why good to see you'''?
I`m home allmost 2 weeks now...
-
Im like Gunny...i have no clue how to do it, maybe i will try. If you want ideas for new ship there is a new trailer of Space Force Rogue Universe game...maybe you can check their ships as examples...
-
im not interested in new ships... just in some old (for the moment)
-
lol i used Milkshape and i have tinkered ships and one station
but is was only a test version and i had no time to complete
this project.

The truth is that i like very much the actual ships in CF, they are original, the only thing i see similar to all of them is the textures, i dont know how you make them but if some of them could be a little more flashy color, i mean just change some grey texture for other colors...cause in the space they all look a little black/grey...but that maybe its because of the ilumination...dunno.

is there a direct download link for this Milkshape thing?
id like to try it and see how it goes -
go to www.isohunt.com and download the torrent. alternatively you can use limewire pro, also downloadable from isohunt. just type milkshape into the search and pick the torrent with the most seeders to download from. be sure to get one with a keygen.
http://www.isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=milkshape
http://www.isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=limewire+pro
if you use limewire you get more sources to download from.

I do 3D CAD design for a living, but using different tools than Milkshape. I have found MS a bit awkward to work with, since it wants to create objects in 3D from the start, instead of allowing for discrete modification of planes and other features. Obviously, its popularity indicates that it is a good tool; just be prepared to devote a few days to getting used to it. I wish I had the time, myself
-
things that are planned:
- retexturing of the coalition ships (if someone has the time and ability to do that) (details on ICQ or MSN chat)
- recreation of ALL CF custom ships and stations (in a special way) -> i already did this for 33 ships (details can be requested on ICQ or MSN chat)
- work on a new version of the lag reduction kit (which requieres moddeling this time) (details on ICQ or MSN chat)
-
hmmm... Sounds like an allmost complete CF rebuild...
-
I will need to download Milkshape first and I will try to help with the ship models but I doubt that I will be a good texturer
-
Hmmm.....It's a good thing I found this topic
See speeking of retexturing......I played this one game....it's called prject freedom. (don't buy it though...not worth it....freelancer is better(Storyline wise))
See what it lacks is that there is 24 missions and that's it whereas freelancer you can fly around afterwards like in CF.
BUT what it lacks in storyline it makes up for in excellent graphics on ships.....I was wondering if you guys cant just take it's texture and put it in freelancer...give it shader model 2.0 or 3.0
Is that even possible....because I think it would bring a whole new perspective to Freelancer...Keeping crossfire alive.....
Think about it......is it possible
-
shaders -> no
project freedom -> dunno if the stuff can be extracted (will need to install the game again)btw. i consider this a very good singleplayer game which was alot of fun
