Concept: Artifact items

  • before you say "good idea!" or "when will it be finished?"


    this is just an idea which is not working yet and which wont become reality soon. I call it concept coz there is nothing that would speak against it... it might become reality somewhen later



    so here is what i have in mind:
    in many RPG games you can collect a set of items that you need to create other more powerful items
    imo it is possible to do this in FL too (in combination with FLhook or an external program)
    you would be able to collect 5 artifacts and when you have all 5 they can be combined to a weapon/shield/whatever

    lol, you know what is funny? i was JUST about to tell you about that this evening when i have event ...
    i also played on other server (in the times when CF was down due to some problems), like on Phoenix server .... there you need to make missions to collect some parts - if you collect 5 parts with the same vorname, yu can get weapons or even a new ship (this was really great, hehe)
    and you only had to go to admin or SP so he "gives" you the ship or weapon


    great idea indeed ... it would increase a lag for a bit but players would have much more fun playing in those missions ... maybe if we made also harder missions this would be really a quest for every player...
    maybe we could try this out at the time when you release 1.8 (if you plan to) with new story about those ships / weapons ... ill be happy to help you with textes and introduction

    Fascinating^^ If such a quest were to include multiple aspects of the game, it would encourage players to get a more rounded experience of CF. For example, one artifact is salvaged from a wreck in a high-risk system, like Dom K'vash space; another is earned on a difficult NPC mission; another is purchased at a remote base for huge cost; yet another is found after mining the Sol asteroid field for some time; the last might be dropped by a specific NPC character in Altair (like the Petrov's!).
    Players who achieve the quest and reveal its secrets will have flaming bamboo thrust under their fingernails... [11]

  • That'd certantly increase the traffck in Yakutsk/Omicron Gamma=More RP ^^. But then, there is the issue of camping for artifacts....one person camps in Omicron Gamma, and whores all of those and become ub3r powerful with shields and guns and what-not...


    But on the other hand, it adds another dimension of power and upgradability (is that even a word??)

  • The concept is good,


    but the reality is that on another server I saw this, (Cant remember which one it was),
    You had the long standing members all flying around with uber stuff, and camping to set up other chars.



    The newbies didnt have a chance to get the stuff.
    Also ALL of the other ships, shields, guns etc became obsolite and had no worth.


    There would have to be alot of policing regarding camping.


    On the positive side, clans would be able gather thier forces and fight to win back the uber stuff from each other.


    However, on this other srever, that did cause a war...lol

  • of course, the new weapons and other comotisies should NOT be to powerfull then the ordinary weapons we can buy , they should be something like DKA atm, either use less energy and make a bit more damage (like 50 more)


    the idea of this is, as i understand it, to give us, players, something to do and be more active and have fun .. and not to have some uber-weaponed ship where noone can beat us cuz there is no sence at all after all, right ?


    just having fun and having more people online ....

  • well its a good concept but as already told i htink it would make the balance betvine the players colapse ..but if we think about it this concept could also be good for RP .. i mean the police adn army could guard the places and not alow eny caping ther :\ so theat the new players could get the items :\

  • getting the parts in missions sounds better then to make some wrecks and loot the damn wrecks cuz thast way no living soul is going to get the parts


    lets say: in every mission we get 1, max 2 parts and thats it ... you put few percentages (posibility) to get some parts and you have fun ...

    only Traders (new licence) are allowed to have a train
    holo projectors only for pirats
    weapon color depending on licence
    ...



    many nice things could be done




    btw would it be possible to make mines that dont move and stay longer till they explode?
    I want real mines ;P
    They should be like coali torps which dont move and can be triggered with a hornet ;)
