• me and a friend haved played Crossfire mod since a month ago, with hard work and respect for other players we earned our first ten millions, so we search for a ship to buy, i know there is clan limitations to specific models and permissions to enther such systems owned, but we both play in night here (we lived in Chile, and Argentina) so at such time there is NOT people in Custodian, except in certains hours, so the problem begin days after that, my friend was intercepted by police ships and they treathened with BAN his account for having these ship, so i ask the following... First : Its our fault the people of custodian was sleeping in time we buy these ships ??, we buyed we DONT stealed ! Second: This is roleplay so if systems clans dont wanna ships belonging to others why dont block these birds for only his mates ?? why menacing with baning account, is not my fault the ship is on sale , again i know the rules, BUT this is ROLEPLAY if u guys wanna keep these ships in safe place try to make police stay 24 hours or make dissapear the thing
we are new players, and we both in our merchant career try to help less fortunate players, i dont wanna polemize about this, but i show respect for others, always, i try to play clean, maybe i tresspased rules, maybe i thinked this was a GAME not CIA top secret stuff matter, i hate to be threathened becouse i play a game like a game means to be played [8] [8] [8] [8] [8] [8]

  • Yeah, I would think they would threaten you with KOS, to force you to sell the ship, and give you a harsh tongue-lashing, etc., but this business of banning players for "breaking the rules" seems ridiculous.

Half the Sirius sector are supposed to be pirates, misfits, and rule-breakers, for crying out loud.

I am not talking about technical rules that need to be enforced, such as cheating or misrepresenting clan affiliations and so forth.

But when it comes to infringing on territories, that's what makes online role-play interesting, ain't it? Someone sneaks in and buys your ships. Well, time to get that bastard! Hunt him down like the mangy rat he is and make him sell that thing! But jeepers, ban him from the server? That sort of over-reaction will quickly make for a dull, over-refined, extremely clique-ish community. Everyone will be flying around kow-towing to one another and sipping tea.

This is a wargame of sorts. Lines are drawn in the dirt. If someone crosses your line in the dirt, kick their butt, by all means. It's all part of the fun, I should think. But ban them from playing? What kind of fun is that?

  • As far as I know, banning is not a legitimate threat merely for system rules infractions. It's possible someone threatened to have that done, but banning is for server rules infractions. Of course, if you choose to mark yourself as a trespasser by buying a ship, then you bear the risk of falling victim to the legitimate enforcement of system rules by the offended parties, which may include hunting you down and dissecting your ship. If this gives you excitement, then enjoy the chase that is sure to come, while it lasts! [doom] [7]

  • Compared to u guys a got away lightly then.

I was murdered and then asked to sell ship (not BG people Tarsus clan I think) - which was okay after I took sometime to understand their side of things.

Rules say even if people are not around u still cant buy their ships without permission.

Threatened to be banned is not being banned but I totally understnad how u feel.

I advise to sell asap, pref in place where u can get another ship and continue yr adventure here. Take some time out to relax and cool time and then come back - I open my arms to u.

BG guys in my experience are really, really nice people so don't break their rules.

  • I agree with him. There's something missing there. Noone can ban you because of system rules infractions.

The clans legally have authority over those systems and their content since they've payed real money to rent the systems, so, policing them is, most times, entirelly up to the owner clan.

  • There was a thread about this sort of thing a couple weeks or so back. Op said you can't be banned for going into those systems, but you can be chased around by the owners if they catch you. My recommendation, write down the names of people threatening you with ban and report it to the admins.

  • I agree with Marcos along a couple of lines. Firstly, if you don't live in Europe it can be very hard at times to find members of certain clans, and if clan members don't want you flying a ship then let them patrol their space and keep you from it. If people don't want you flying their system's ship then they should "persuade" you into getting rid of it through RP means, not by threatening to boot you off the server. It's a game and there are rules to be followed, but if nobody ever broke the little ones, then what kind of place would this be? Lol, it's a game and we're all supposed to be having a good time. Respect server rules and try to get along with the clans and there shouldn't be any reason not to enjoy yourself :D .

  • @Azadur. Murdered? No....you were shot down for telling me you entered Tarsus anyway, despite knowing it was CFPD space.

You post a thread claiming you are leaving this community and we tell you the benefits of being here. Then you post about being "murdered " again.

Violate any clan rules, you will find yourself learning respect at the end of some PPC's.

  • yep have to agree with gunny i have "murdered" many intruders in many clan systems some are innocent most are ignorant. If you enter a clan system its your own risk so you take your chances which most the time are not good.

  • It's just like if you were to enter a secret military zone.
You might not get killed but you sure won't be left alone too.

  • Sorry Gunny - I did not realise who u r or what u do when we first met - Yes even despite constant messages on server - remem, some of us r thick.

Will not mention it again and have deleted it from my memory.

I also note u have a good sense of humour (No? Yes - really)

I would suggest rather than leaving someone in Deepspace without food, water or a ship, a fitting punishment would be to spawn them into the extreme edge of a nomad system 1hr game time away from safest jumphole - in a ship of ur choice - thus giving them a chance to redeem themselves - but still having to sell that ship they stole off course - if after their ordeal u still think it was appropriate

  • ok this is how it does work

if you enter a clan system and break rules you risk being killed without warning
if you think that you are save just because you are below lvl40 ... no you arent
the rules (Custodian system rules) say that every1 above will be killed... there is no word about that BG is not allowed to kick players that are below that system out of the system (several ppl came to me with that excuse)
BG also may close the system completly if there is the need to (such as for training purposes or clan internal tournaments)

BG will not ban you for entering custodian once without permision... they simply kill you and kick you out of the system (dont expect a warning - coz we expect that ppl read the rules and the console messages)
if you get caught several times in custodian we tend to set you on KOS
if you refuse to leave custodian we for sure will set you to KOS serverwide
if you get asked to leave by a SP or Admin and you still refuse or come back to custodian after that you most likely will find your chars somewhere in hiruga or DK space
if that still does not help a temparily ban might be an option (but so far it was not neccessary)

the protection of the serverclans and their systems has highest priority on CF because they pay the server and you others better should start to respect them because without them you would have no CF server.... and no CF mod

on a sidenote: ppl can thread with bans as much as they want... but only the SP or the Admin can do bans
every ban is reported directly to me and i would see if some1 is banned for no real reason
