CFPD Standdown

  • Greetings Fellow CF members.

CFPD will stand-down from any and all Law Enforcement activities in CF, for the exception of assisting freelancers in trouble with pirating.

Also, this does not apply to the CFPD / LP role play agreement we have.

Privy, Stoned or Canoso get with me in game so we can make adjustments.

  • This is a Role Play server, so we play our role as any cop would.

    1. We check for illegal cargo and respond to pirate attacks.

    2. If we find illegal cargo, we ask 1 of 3 things.

    1. Drop the cargo
    2. Pay a fine for hauling the cargo and the money will goto a fund for events or helping noobs.
    3. Refuse either of the above and be shot down.

The fine is normal in the real world, so why wouldn't it be used here?

Like I said, this is a RP server, so Pirates need to pirate, Mercs need to be mercenaries, Smugglers need to smuggle. Police need to be police and eat donuts. The Military acts like the military.

So if you are taking a gamble in your trading or activities, then you are doing just that.....taking a gamble.

I am reviewing current CFPD policy to make changes.

  • so... how is the CFPD standing down? so far sounds like you're doing what you're supposed to be doing

  • at this time Pandora, we are standing down from law enforcement, we are only going to protect tarsus and assist when asked if we deam it necessary.

  • hmmmmm.... the CFPD guys are well organized... I supose this a preventive anti-scandal measure. Btw, scandal is defined as: loss of or damage to reputation caused by actual or apparent violation of morality or propriety ~ DISGRACE

  • Actually Amhos, you have no idea what this is about, therefore you should not comment.

But in the spirit of good sportsmanship, I will be looking for sport with your ship in the server.

Also, after reviewing the CFPD Policy and talking with a number of CF members, the FINE portion of our enforcement will be removed from the options a frieghter has.

We will aggressively seek out pirates who are in the act of pirating and assist players when called upon.

So my question to the Pirates is: When you are killed in the act of pirating, are you going to leave that system for 1 hour or 1 day? We need to have some policy in effect for this. Please post your opinions.

Just a question: Does this apply only to pirate serverclans, or to ALL pirates?

Once again , you know nothing of why this post was made.

So your gesture was not required.

Centaurian, this is in effect for all pirates who carry a license that we can scan.

Some so-called Pirates, carry a mercenary license, but will pirate all day long.

  • i think it needs to be a server rule that all chars must have a license... be it pirate, merc, police, military or whatever... the license slot should have to be filled so we know the intentions of the player.

  • agreed

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

    This is ten percent luck,
    Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
    Five percent pleasure,
    Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name!

  • Getting serious:
I think we may define a period of time for a killed pirate to be out of the system he died trying to do his piracy... but the police or military that is killed should receive the same penalty. In this way, pirates should be good in performing their function on the server, and police should realy care about security matters, being alert.

What u guys think about that?

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

We, tagged Pirates, dont need the license... and we should have the slot free for CSF license

    I agree with oldgit.
What is the point of having a merc license when a player is truely a pirate.

That seems to me a deceptive practice.

If a player wants to pirate at all, then they should be labeled as a pirate.

If a player doesn't want to be labled a pirate, then they should not loot other players

Just because one pirate extorts another pirate, that does not change a pirate into a mercenary.

Historically pirates looted each other whenever they had the chance.

The only allegiance they had was to there own shipmates, in this case it would be clanmates.

There is a Clan that is a merc Clan. Do they have any history of piracy? I intend no disrespect to merc Clan. I honestly do not know as i am newer player to CF multiplayer. In my dealings with them, they never attempted any form of piracy.

If it turns out that a pirate and a merc is the same thing, then why are there two different licenses ?

    Yes Burros Do Bite.

  • So then, if a ship has an ASF license mounted, others may safely assume that they are not looking at a pirate? As it stands today, all the pirate clans are CSF. The merc vs. pirate license question would then only apply to rogue freelancers who choose piracy as a vocation, as far as i can tell from the commentary so far... :-|

  • The general feeling I'm getting from all this is that players ought to have licenses according to thier serverside roles. Wasn't that the point of having licenses in the first place? As for the ASF-CSF problem, I think that this could be solved by having a second license slot that would only accept a ASF or CSF license. Because a member of one of these factions could be filling a number of other roles, it would make sense to do this to avoid confusion regarding the intentions of members of one of the groups. On the other hand, it's not like having a pirate char and a seperate CSF char would kill you ^^.

And btw, I hope this standing down business is resolved soon...it's sort of weird not having cops around to do that miscellaneous cop stuff...like, well, I don't know...cop stuff. Hehehe, good luck with resolving whatever it is that is wrong and I look forward to watching you loaf around and eat doughnuts again like you used to (Doughnuts...*drooling*. Lol, I wish I was a cop :D).
