Fake Chars

Since you've brought it up, there is also another version of this issue which may be helpful to air out... I am not in a clan, nor will I ever be (I'm too restless for that), but, some of my characters have been mistaken for clan characters. I guess I missed the rule about how to name a character when I first began secondary characters, but since I was not using "prefixes" that were recognized clans, I naively assumed that the main-line clans would readily note the difference, Instead, I now am routinely asked what clan I'm in, and my newer characters viewed with suspicion. My original, and main, character is Centaurian Alpha; so when I decided to build a freighter, it seemed natural to call it CA_Cache, denoting that the "cache" belonged to C entaurian A lpha, and I had noted that I was not the only player using such a scheme.

This went well enough until I introduced the "SS" series of ships (Sirius Ship), SS_Endurance and SS_Damocles. For some reason, this "prefix" causes consternation among the clan guards, even though, to my knowledge, there has never been a clan here using it. OP declined to make any change to these character names, to avoid making them unusable with respect to their console function, so we're stuck with them.

I'm not inclined to kill a perfectly good character just to ease someone's insecurities, so this serves as record to anyone who wants to confirm my characters' ID...

Well, now that I have sort of recanted my resistance to clan membership, at least in the "normal" sense, all the characters named in my previous post here can be seen online with a prefix of (IOC). Not content with the existing clan mix, I have started my own, which predictably, is somewhat different from what I hear in the "established" clan ranks. More on this will be posted elsewhere...

Sorry , Have I missed something about char naming ? I have 4 chars , all named differently as I am not in any clans (travel my own path and still learning the ropes)
Should I use a common thread to bind the char names together ? Nothing in the server rules when I read.

I came under the impression quite awhile ago that you're asking for trouble if you don't somehow group your char names. If your names have no correlation to one another, then putting a bounty on your head or adding you to a KOS list would be entirely ineffective (not that this would ever happen ), as you could just switch chars and act like an innocent bystander. The problem (or advantage, if you see the issue in another light) is that most people won't know who you are when you're using a different char. As you said, I don't think there's any rule about it, so I imagine what you're doing is entirely okay (somebody correct me if I'm wrong ).

what about people on clans KOS list. They change thier char and we have no clue who they are. Freelancers should only be allowed to have 2 chars not 5 like us. They should only use one name like vagrant. He has vagrant-[trader] and then vagrant. People are changing their names completely differnet they should not be allowed to do that. Cuss in the passed i let a KOS person in my system because of name change. If it starts to be a issue u should do something about it. I dont want u guys mad at me for bring that up it is just i was so mad that i let a KOS person in my system. Thnxx u server police and have a great day.

Freelancers are not less then us, so if a freelancer whant's to have more then 2 or 3 chair's why not. maybe it woul be better that we force him to use the same name, no more no less.

But we can't force them to have less chairs, as he can always create another user in windows. Afterall the game is called freelancer.

IMO this is the way it needs to be considered:

You have clan tags of any type: All chars must have them.

If you are a Pirate in one Char using the {X}, then ALL your chars need to have the {X}.

All your chars should have the same name, so we all know who you are. For example: [CO]Gunny[CFPD]; Gunny[CFPD]; Gunny*[CFPD].

Like some players I know, you are committing offenses, then hiding under a different name. This should not be allowed.

the SP are not allowed to tell this to somebody else

so in fact every Serverclan has one member (not neccessarily the clanleader) who knows how to find fake chars

Finding a fake chars,,uhmm,,I´ve done that when i was in other servers but i guess people dont care about that in other servers that is one of reason I like CF cause there are rules as rules of behavior, rules of engagement, and of course, the famous gentlemans agreement

Well i have another ? what happend to the Flshell we cant send money through them ne more. I wish we could still do it that way but it is gone for a reason. Well let me know if we still have it. If not oh well. By the way i am with gunny 100%.
