  • well this is a mail from a guy working on a economy mod for FL...
well imagine that you go to new york and destroy something there... and this would have an effect on the prices of the goods in NY
well mike did something like this for the singleplayer and he is going to finish it now
I offered my help and resources to get all this running in MP aswell (you can imagine why ^^)

  • Just like X games and well JumpGate and EVE online. That is a hard task to acomplish, especially on a game that kind of interaction was not in mind when they release it.

That would be a great addition to any mod out there in the Freelancer community so I hope you can pull this out...

    Sincerely,

  • :D That'll be fun. What about this project in conjunction with the Asgard (think it was them) stock market version. Somehow they got something to work out where they trade, buy, and sell commodities for money without having to be on the server.

  • this sounds like a great idea. what i think is, the more realism in Freelancer, the better. but unfortunatly, "realism", such as the things here in everyday society are offten difficult to put into this game due to obvious reasons. such things if possible, could greatly enhance the game and so forth.

    good luck OP:)

  • Realism can only be a good thing for any game i agree. But there r somethings that should really be left out of the mod, (human bomb implants being 1 of them), have to say this OP but i think that they r in bad taste if u know what i mean.

  • I agree we could possibly do with fewer black market items, and some of them tend to strike a nerve with people. But if the values could be adjusted to take this into account, it would increase their relevance to the underground economy, and make it more worthwhile to risk hauling them. There are few contraband cargos I will haul, just because most of them aren't worth the trouble... An adjustment might be made in long-haul values, by giving higher returns for most goods at some distance, as is the case for most VIP's. Just a thought...

  • before i join this mod i have playd allot at total warr (but becouse off the lag there was not possible to play anymore) but they had a dynamic econamy between 4 group.
dunno iff you know this mod op but am sure that it will be interesting to check out.
and also nice for the ppl in clans becouse they have to stay at work to keep the things payablle.

    have fun all

  • Hi OP, sorry I don't know the first thing about modding, and greatly appreciate all the hard work that YOU, and all those that do, put into them.
I only suggest this as a player with no modding knowladge at all, but is it possible to have random trade good requirements?
for example:- a message on the consol saying something like "For the next 30 minutes Battleship Hood requires HFuel and will pay $1500 per ton .
or MALTA requires Light arms and will pay $2000 per ton for the next 30 minutes etc.
Random items required at random places, paying random amounts between $1,000 and $2,000 for set times.
Then it's up to those who wish to, to get whats required there before the time limit expires.
Spot supply and demand, like in the real world.
Could be good for those who want a bit more challenge to tradeing.
Can give traders a personal challeng to see how many runs they could get in before time limit over etc.
Also good incentive for everyone explore all of CF, to fill their nav maps, and find all the goods for sale at all locations.
    Only an Idea.
    R_39NB.

If things don't change, they'll stay the same.
Then who the hell you going to blame, for not getting any better.

This is not a slap in the face for anyone when I make this comment, but this is only a game.

HBI are no more real here than having a gun in your hand, satchel-charge or grenades in other games and running around killing people.

Although the HBI may have an impact on some people's personal level, we should do our best not integrate our real world demise here.

  • from what i know there are events that have influence on the price of goods... im not sure if it is possible to change the goods at the stations

and im sure that this will not be announced on the console because every planet/station will have a newsticker with prize changes

  • I like the idea for better economics( longer trading missions means bigger payoff) and all the other ideas posted here.

But if whe gonna have a active economie the server has to do a lot more data traffic and that means more lagg i think. at the moment whe already have a lot off lag so that fighting becomes almost impossible.

my advice would be to keep it simple and figure out a way to do as much as possible without burden the server to much. :)

  • i think that the server wont create more traffic

most likely the economics will be settet just one time when you log onto the server

but im not sure... a mp version is not available yet
