Thanks for your support of the mod. I think this will work even for MP, but
that has not been top priority for me. I am not really sure what
requirements there are for an MP economy. Maybe you could ask around and
contribute some ideas or things which are a must have feature for MP.
I am currently in the finishing stages for the SP version of the mod. I will
publish this version for testers and contributors, so you'll get a copy. I
just wanted to note that there is still a lot of work necessary to finish
it, which I hope to receive some help for. (An example: Keep the balance in
the economy accross an entire universe, take relationships between goods
into account, such as the connection of Boron, Basic Alloy and Ship Hull
Panels... There is a lot more things needed.)
Additionally I see a lot of potential for an MP version of this mod. For
example I could imagine not using random events to generate market news, but
instead to rely on the players of an MP server and their actions. (I can
track everything you and NPCs do in the game in SP and I don't see a reason,
why this shouldn't work for MP too.)

well imagine that you go to new york and destroy something there... and this would have an effect on the prices of the goods in NY
well mike did something like this for the singleplayer and he is going to finish it now
I offered my help and resources to get all this running in MP aswell (you can imagine why ^^)
