Connection / Ping Problem ...

  • Dear All,

Just need some advice btw ... ok, here is the scenario one by one ...

    1) At desktop, i check ping to 81.169.228.227 ... and it indicates average around 215
    2) Then i launch CF accordingly ...
    3) Then, at the "Freelancer Servers - Select a Server" page, i see CF server with ping ... also at 215 (this is a good ping to me btw with no fluct or loss)
    4) So, i clicked CF server to start playing and so on
    5) However, once i'm in the game ... i check the ping again ...
    6) But this time, the ping is tremendously high with ping = >250 reaching 300, Fluct = 10 to 30, and Loss = more 5

This is the first time happen to me since i play CF and it happened just a few days back ... i can't remember the exact time btw ... sorry
And i have not done anything to the files or anything... i just keep playing it sometimes more than 24 hours only...

So, is there anything u guys did with the server or something ... or is there anything that i can do at my end to fix this ...

    Thank you in advance ...

  • it might be a regional problem with a hub between you and the server... dunno

  • I actually have the same issue, it's a fresh install of CF and all, and no antivirus to check and mess with the signal, but maybe some permission issues ? Idk I will try look into it.

Pings to any place have no loss, no fluct, but when in game I have Fluct around 12 but loss always 10%. And ping 170 instead of 50 or so.

With a loss that high I get very unusual effects, like things shooting at me that I don't see or are at a tradelane distance away from me (a player), or such. I cannot shoot something that is at 10km away on my screen that is killing me :D

  • First time I saw it was when your EM char got banned. But that was also the first time I was on the server these few months :)

It's a constant issue, was never better. Even if it's 2% loss, it's unacceptable for how the game works, I can get my account corrupted and/or banned like this lol It could probably be related with your EM char autoban.

But nobody I asked online had any Loss, so I'm assuming it's something related with CF permissions on my PC or filters or something.

  • Well for me it's not started after that EM banned ... but, just recently, perhaps 2 or 3 days back ... in fact, i have done any changes to the files, permission or anything ...
Since you are a master programmer, can u help me bro ... ? You got any software to detect the problem somehow ... ? thx ...

  • sometime this happened to me. i do the same with Ori. nothing change then. will back normal in few day.
As Micheal said. i got some banned account when this happened. Hope OP check to avoid banned in this case

  • Guys, when i did the pingplotter below... i saw addresses among all other in the hops that give out high percentage of packet loss.
So, is there any way to skip or bypass this address (is it server... idk) and straight to CF server ???

  • Your pic link is broken. Anyway your ISP doesn't handle that stuff I think so I got no idea how to change it except proxies which would lag it even more... maybe. lol Better a higher ping than even up to 20% data loss.

  • Hmm, for me it seems to be working fine now... it started using different hubs or paths I guess.
0% loss and 1ms fluct, now this sure looks better xD Good xmas gift from the heavens :D

  • Just saw this but Op and Hour are both right. Only way to "possibly" by pass all the different points would be to pay through the nose for a dedicated line btwn you and the server. Major bucks!! And you still would have to rely on the providers at each point of interface to ensure that the best route is being provided with 24 hour monitoring to ensure connectivity and no packet loss problems. Again, major costs and only done by large commercial concerns and governments. (Worked in that field for many years.)

Having said that, if you have the ability to upgrade what your ISP is providing without a lot of cost, you can come by better path conditions that way. Something to research.
