Welcome to the Cold War II or (in my humble opinion the still ongoing cold war I). Russia is the opposing power related to US. Ukraine was belonging to the former USSR and so now Russia claims its right there. US has nothing to loose there and they really at a certain point should stay out of a conflict. It cannot end good if they let drag themselves again into a conflict. Some politician here in the EU say Ukraine belongs to the EU - which is surely not true. It never belonged to the EU and it should not belong to the EU. Historically seen belongs to nowhere else than to Ukraine. They got their independence and so it should remain.

The problem i see is that its current government is not elected by the people in Ukraine and as the president was forced to leave there is no right for them to reign their country. The current temporary government also acts not by democracy and for sure does not abide to the former signed contract between the former government and the opposing revolutionists. If contracts have been signed then they should be carried out by both parties. I am not saying that Janukowitsch did well - but a president and a government has to be elected by honest elections. As far as the Ukraine did not elect its government the crisis is just made from 3rd parties who involve themselves where they normally should stay out.

Slowly i am becoming tired of all the conflicts here in this world. Its always the same and in most but not all cases its the US and Russia who make the whole a lot more difficult. Their opposing veto rights are just sick. This veto stuff should be removed - it is unfair. The most votes should win and not what US or Russia wants to have. A through and through wrong system to solve the issues in this world nowadays. Unfortunate.

but it wouldnt be a bad decision to wait for elections to make a decision about whats legit or not
the current government simply didnt get the chance yet because nobody gave them the time to call new elections

and lets face it
a democracy can relative easily turn into a dictature
it is much harder to turn a dictature back to democracy

In my eyes presidents like in syria or ukraine lost their democratical rights when they started to imprison and suppress the oposition. Thats pretty much turning a democracy into dictature.
Legit or not the people just have one chance now to get such a president removed... and thats pretty much what they try to do now.
It never would have made sense to expect that janukowitsch would have been removed by the next elections.... no he already started to imprission the opposition and change the laws to guarantee that nobody else has the chance at democratic elections.
Removing such a president and government was the only choice that the people had in order to get changes done in their country.
Fact is, you dont remove a dictator by elections.

New elections would have shown whats the people really want... a new legit government would then have taken its legit place.
But using the time before that even can happen to start military operations against the ukraine is just... mehh.

IF the ukraine people want to be aligned to russia they could vote for a pro-russian government.
IF not then they would vote for a pro western government.
The people of the entire country should get the chance to vote for what future they want.... without russian soldiers making up opinions with military force.

I dont like the USA does and did in the past in other countries... thats also a clear fact.
They went into war even without NATO resolution... for reasons which are pretty selfish.
What russia does right now is in my eyes even worse. They dont do this to help suppressed people in that country... they do this clearly and openly because of OWN interest... which pretty much means they are just up for resources and strategical position for their military forces.

My opinion about russia actually is not bad... my opinion on the russian government however is.
Putin is a dictactor in my eyes.
Yes he was elected... but... hey looking back in history 90% of all dictators including hitler were elected in first place.
They did remove remove their opposition either by murder or by imprisionation.
The day will come that there are riots in russia... that will be a very bloody day.

My views on NATO are... welll...
Lets say it this way... the NATO is an oragnization with many countries which have one common goal and many different interests.
The NATO acts when the members think that the members of a country need help... when human rights are broken and when its a moraly justified decision.
The NATO often enough decided not to act because the circumstance were not clear or military actions where moraly not right.
I am certainly not a fan of the NATO as whenever military forces are sent people will die. But from all the military forces in the world this is the only one which can not act just because some stupid president has a bad day (or wants oil).
And i am absolutely against that the NATO is blamed for any shit. Infact one universal law is "cause and reaction".
When NATO acts then there needs to be a legit cause.... afterall the NATO is in first place a defense pact... not an imperialistic army.

A president should not have the final saying to limit the rights of the opposing parties, limit the rights of the constitution or anything else. That topics have to be discussed openly and decided from the parliament. That is not happening in Russia, nor in Syria nor or very limited in Ukraine too (and many other countries). Democracy just works if the people of a society have their weights in decisions - either directly or indirectly.

I can somehow understand the Russia actions however i condemn how it was done, Russia just did occupy Krim. Its against international law - the funny thing about that- the USA also does this very often and now praying Russia not abiding these laws. Thatswhy i see the intervention of the USA wrong. I remain with my opinion: Its the Ukraine who has to make a decision without being forced to decide either the one or other way (by 3rd parties involved). If the majority of the Krim inhabitants want to belong to Russia then it should be discussed if Krim might split apart from Ukraine and belong to Russia - but then they all have to live with the consequences - but that decision has to be made by the people living there - not by Russia or EU or the US. Russia has no right to claim who might reign the Ukraine or parts of it. If it just could be guaranteed that the elections would be honest and fair - then the Ukraine probably has a chance, but i somehow have my doubts. The same as i have my doubts Putin election was honest and fair and Assads election was. Corruption through and through. The cold war the 2nd is starting right now we just might hope it will have a good end.
