    You all may know me as Lord Hakkera I have been on this server regularly for about 6 month or so.
    On two occasions i have attempted to collect and assemble a Cloaking device for a SoulTrain trader.
    The first set of parts were lost during the Jump hole flight from Grum to Mandar during RED lag. (ping =168.0.3) coming from USA.
    the second was similar I had attached he device and was flying back to New Berlin when red lag struck again while use the jump gate between Omega-7 and Stuttgart. This time the red lag and the jump gate transition (Ping= 183.1.3) some how corrupted the character so it would not launch at all. Let me explain when I logged on in the character and attempted to leave freeport 1 the Crossfire game would shutdown. I attempted this several time and then reinstalled Freelancer and Crossfire MOD but the same problem exists. So I Deleted the the character which I had invested a weeks worth of time and more then 300 million credits of investment :cursing: After all that I talked to SA_Mozzi who recommended I write this information down here.
    It is possible to mount a cloaking device to a SoulTrain however it seems to me to be unstable.


    Looking for you advice.

    Yes but in future you should not delete but first take time and explain this problem with the people on this site that could help you better with this, Dont delete anything before the admins of the game were not able to help you after you reported this and said deleting it is only thing you have left to do..

    I have never heard that you can loose it after it is mounted, other than buying a new ship. Did you ever see a white console message like "Lord_Hakkera has mounted a cloaking device" ? U need about 100.000.000 in credits before it is mounted.

    Hm, it could be that if you got the cloaking device while landing on a base and you switched off the game (or game crashed after this) the cloaking device is lost. I am not totally sure if the game somehow saves the char at. However i would recommend to leave the base once you have the obtained the cloaking device.


    I need to try to test this scenario for cf20 - eventually i can improve the handling a bit or make it more secure. Furthermore i am not sure if its save to mount a cloaking device on a train - although there is no idea why it should not be possible.

    I can cover part of this money loses from GR char for this case. But next time will be good to leave this char and post ticket about this issue so Huor or OP can take closer look on this. Sometimes if your conection get temporary bad (I suspect more packets lost) then you can be killed during jumps (happen to me too few times).

    I don't think this is a issue with cloaking device as much as I believe it to be a packet loss during the Jumps. Forlon speaks well to this. I have been on this server and been locked in a JH/JG for several minutes just to explode on the other side and have the server tel me I pushed F1 while in between systems. Which didn't happen. I have been in combat (PVP) when the ping got to be so high the game just crashes and fines me for(pushing F1) which can't happen because I use this button to roll my ship to the left. I have also seen this happen to several other players. I'm almost certain that the combination of the cloaking device and the Jump gate packet loss during red lag caused the corruption of this character. I regrate not taking a screen shot of this type of thing but i will be more diligent in the future.
