Well, yeah, humankind never got stopped, no matter how big the cataclysm was, like in the American continent before the "civilized" humans discovered other fellow humans there.
Future Life...

Yeah thanks NucNuc, i more would like to know what could happen in billions of years if we will be able to survive somewhere else - which would mean we need to travel there first and that again could takes eras...
I admit we would have a major impact on our life if a solar flare or a cosmical flare would reach use and eliminate big parts of our technology...

well.. i am not sure if i understand the question
if we reach other worlds then the same will happen that we have today
people live their lives -
But would we be able to reach other worlds? How long do we try to settle on Mars meanwhile? Although technology is good enough - no one made it until now. Ok in comparison to another billions of years to reach this goal the time currently passed is just a split second. And just in case we have the technology to reach other worlds, how do mankind manages to bring itself (we are currently more than 6 billion people, in billions of years how much would we be) to other worlds.
Do we build sleeper ships? Where do we store (dunno) 6 or more billion people? Would we choose the elite? Kinda like Noa's Arch?

we did not try actually
there is no step done in this direction so far -
The technology is there, ... and developing further and further. To USE it is the question of will and motivation.
I , personally, believe that it will be done. Most likely NOT on a worlwide scale as an enterprise of the - let's say "United Nation" that might come - or not.
Not the club of toothless, selfopposing, boyish games playing diplomats, that it is atm.
It will be done by one group, that has the will, motivation and resources to set on this task, as well as a kind of "believe" that can carry such an enterprise
for a fair amount of time. Perhaps something like the pilgrims, whoQuote........ the "civilized" humans discovered other fellow humans there.
One (of several possible) scenario, that comes in my mind:
the Aga Khan decides, that htings here are worse enough for the Alawites, that they have to "move".
They would have the resources and the believe, necessary to get on this, building an "Ark" to reach out for
a new, "safe" home.
Perhaps it will be first an habitat, like good ol' O-Neill space stations, perhaps some asteroid bases, but a first step
to go further. And then ? Again, as the story of the american pilgrims: if one makes the first step, a LOT of others will follow.
