Samsung looses against Apple...

  • Apple has won its claim against Samsung, now the US laws have decided. Samsung now needs to hand over 1 billion dollars to Apple because of several patent infringements (software and design wise). Features that Samsung should have copied are:

    • The jury found no infringement by Apple on any of Samsung’s utility patents.
    • The jury found that Samsung infringed on patents for ’381 “bounce back” scrolling functionality on all devices.
    • On the ’915 patent, relating to one finger to scroll, two to pinch and zoom navigation, all but three Samsung devices (Ace, Intercept and Replenish) infringed.
    • For Apple’s ’163 patent (tap to zoom) all Samsung devices except Captivate, Indulge, Intercept, Nexus S 4G, Transform and Vibrant infringed.

Dunno what you think but 1 billion dollar - is that not a bit too much??? How can Apple have patents on those points. I mean every programmer can program a list to start from new if the end is arrived. Its not even hard to realize zoom and scroll functions. Most of the features are not even developed by Apple - but they do have the patent rights. I admit i am not a fan of Apple products - mostly because they are too expensive and well they are restricted. I find it very odd that such sums are result of a claim. 1 billion dollar *shakeshead* What are your thoughts about it?

  • question would be if these features are pure copies (same code)
if so then apple is right... but one billion because of such minorities... dunno
    sounds not reasonable

probably sony should raise claims against apple for creating a mobile device that you can use to listen to music (remember the walkman?)

    apply is totally overrated

  • Imo apple now need expect 'return' strike. Such things never come alone.

What I have direct feedback from Ipad user ... looks and work great, but if you need to do some easy operations while you want interact with others then nightmare.

Imo app things are way too expensive for common user.

  • What else can we expect from the jury when their country's company is up against a company that is not local.

Apple just found the most lucrative way to make money without really doing anything.

I have never and will never purchase any apple product. I don't support bullies and people that cut the knees off others to make themselves look better.

" The U.S. ruling, read out to a packed federal courtroom in San Jose, just miles from Apple's headquarters, came less than 24 hours after a Seoul court found that while the iPhone and Galaxy look very similar Samsung hadn't violated Apple's design.
Samsung issued a defiant response to the U.S. decision, which it called "a loss for the American consumer", indicating the legal tussle is far from over. "This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple's claims," Samsung said in a statement. • Its just sad to see something like this happening. Sure if they break any copy infringements then they need to pay. But 1 billion - where do they take these sums from? I guess thats the freedom the US is proud to have?! They can make even patents on design - like round edges. Which sounds stupid at all. How can anyone make a patent on how round edges are? I dont know for sure but heard that Samsung has the same round edges like Apple and thats a copy infringement? Who of those who decide about this is actually not corrupt? I think there are a few instances before it comes to such law battles (Samsung vs. Apple) which have failed.

  • the amount probably is due to "if we would have these features alone then we would have sold xmillion iphones more"

  • I am going to Patent the way that a ship in CF slides around when Starfing.

Because I published this intention, I have 1 year (12 months) to do the patent and nobody else is allowed to patent this information.

Then I am going to ask royalties for everyone that Starf their ship.
